Jesus spoke these two verses in Matthew 24.

1. Matthew 24:15 about the AoD placed in the temple

2. Matthew 24:30 (1) about the Sign of the Son of Man in heaven and,

(2) His coming in the clouds of heaven, in great power and glory

Everything seems to be referenced off the AoD placed in the holy place (the temple), Jesus referred to in Matthew 24:15.        And the times given in Daniel 12:11-12 regarding the AoD setup.

The AoD placed in the temple - then 1290 days to the sign of the Son of Man in heaven.

The AoD placed in the temple - then 1335 days to the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven (on the 1290th day): and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory (on the 1335th day).

Nice connection of the AD with Daniel 12:11, not with Daniel 9:27, which is a red herring. However, I believe the common translation of Daniel 12:11 leads to the misunderstanding that the AD takes place at the beginning of the 1290 days. My understanding is that it comes at the end:

Standard translation of Daniel 12:11-12

Dan. 12:11 And from the time that the daily/continual service shall be taken away, and an abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be 1290 days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the 1335 days.

Literal translation of Daniel 12:11-12

And from the time the daily/continual service has been caused to be taken away and/even to the placing of an abomination of desolation: 1290 days. Blessed/happy is the one who earnestly waits, and comes/attains to 1335 days. ...

“to the”: ל This is the Hebrew preposition lamed, which means “to” or “for.” It has been omitted from the translations of nearly all versions of the Bible. Of the many versions I have consulted, it is found only in Youngʼs Literal Translation. Normally, this preposition would have a Shewa vowel pointing [ ְ ] underneath; but in this case it has a Qamats [ ָ ] underneath, which signifies that it includes within it the definite article “the,” the Hebrew letter ה . So this is to be read, “to the placing of an abomination of desolation…” ...

The addition of the preposition “to” significantly alters the understanding of the text. The standard translation is rather ambiguous – at least, it has been to me – about the relationship of the 1290 days to the two acts: 1) the ending of the daily religious ritual, and 2) the placing of an abomination of desolation. But the inclusion of the simple preposition “to” indicates that the first act begins the 1290 days, and the second act concludes the 1290 days: “from the time of the [removal] even to the abomination of desolation: 1290 days.”

I look at this a little different.  What are these 30 and then 45 day periods?  The 30 days may be the duration for the Battle of Armageddon, start to finish.  Up to 1.5 billion may die in this battle. It takes time for those to march into this battle. Then the 45 days are the length of time for the birds of the air to eat the flesh of men and horses.  Then at the end of the 1335th day is when Jesus sets His feet on the Mt of Olives.

Hi Marv, there is not  a "Battle of Armageddon", in actuality.   The "Battle of Armageddon" is a popularized term by the secular world.     Armageddon is the place where the kings of the earth gather their armies to prepare to make war on Jesus.     The battle is actually on the great day of God Almighty, the day that Jesus returns.

Revelation 16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

Revelation 19:19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

The birds and beasts feeding on the dead bodies will be after Jesus slays those armies and their kings.    We are not told how long the feasting on the dead bodies lasts.

I show the 1290 days and 1335 days on the latest version of my chart.   Including the immediately after "the tribulation of those days" of Matthew 24:29, which indicates the sixth seal.

Let's put it this way.  This battle follows the 7th Bowl.  When the Euphrates dries up, this allows the vast 200,000,000 army from the east to cross on its way to Megiddo.  Then there is the army from the North, South and West which also end up at Megiddo.  Some go through or near Jerusalem, the others miss Jerusalem because they are to far North.

The Euprhates is dried up at the sixth seal, making it possible to for the Kings of the East to cross over, with their 200,000,000 man coming from the east - destroying a third of mankind enroute - through Pakistan and India.

In Daniel 11, it is the news from the east that will concern the beast in Daniel 11:44.

All of the armies of the world will have been brought into the area of Israel.

Then the sixth seal event happens, which will send terror into the hearts of all of them.    It takes the convincing of the beast, the false prophet, and the dragon Satan, to unite and assemble their armies at Armageddon to prepare to make war on Jesus.

The Euphrates is dried up with the 6th Bowl Rev 16:12.  Then the three evil spirits come out of the mouths of the A/C, F.P. and Dragon.  Then the 7th Bowl  where every island (continent) was moved out of its place.  And the mountains could not be found, and then the plague of hailstones. All this just before Armageddon.

Marv,  .... before the battle of that great day of God Almighty.    Armageddon is a big plain at the base of the mountains of Meggido, located about 80 miles north of  Jerusalem.    That's where the armies assemble themselves to march down to Jerusalem, and take half the city hostage, and the beast, the  false prophet, and the living speaking image of the beast incarnated by Satan make their stand.

Revelation 16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

Zechariah 14:

2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

Marv, I don't have a problem with calling the entire event Armageddon, as what takes place at Jesus's return in Revelation 19:17-21, although I myself prefer to call it Jesus's return.    But Armageddon is not a separate battle prior to Jesus 's return.

There are over 500 square miles of dense armies (approx 1.5 billion) some with horses all dying in or at Megiddo which is about 180 square miles in area.  Lucky for Jerusalem that there are few if no Jews present there.  The winepress is at Megiddo.  A winepress is ring shaped.  The harvest goes from the outside and the wine is collected on the inside.

The AoD is 1290 days until the Second Coming. The 1335 is the Two-witnesses who show up BEFORE the DOTL which begins on day 1261.....1260 days from the Second Coming.

1335 the Two-witnesses show up....A BLESSING of course.

1290 the AoD is a sign for the Jews to Flee Judea.

1260 is when the Anti-Christ Conquers Jerusalem/Mediterranean Sea Region.

All three are a SET NUMBER of days until the Second Coming hence the verbiage....HOW LONG till these Wonders End !!
