Lol.  I think the devil does that with just about everything in life

Case in point. So should we avoid doing “everything in life” because it could turn into something sinful? Eating can be turned into something sinful...

The matter of gluttony has already been taken off-topic, and repetitively so on another thread. "Is it a sin to enjoy alcohol?" or something like that. Anyway, the thing we were discussing was a 'mind-set' at this point, correct? Here's a good reminder on that aspect.

2 Corinthians 10:5 5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

I know that some will say this is just something men say as an excuse to get sex but regular ejaculations contribute to prostate health. Look at #4

http://drtague.com/prostate-health-10-strategies-lower-risk-risk-love/

This isn't the only research out there that states this either and it makes sense. Any guy will tell you about the discomfort after a week or so of build up.

Once again it really seems to come down to your heart. Everything in moderation. Some things become a problem quicker, like heroin but it was used as medicine at one time, in some place it still is. Buy a lottery ticket, that's gambling, but you probably aren't going to loose the farm. You are a single person and you self gratify yourself a few times a month just to take the edge off. So you don't burn as Paul put it. I don't think that makes you serial rapist. Just normal.

My apologies for going off topic.

And that is the perfect Scripture to quote for this thread!

Are you going to teach your daughter that masturbation is ok too? It's not only males who have strong urges.

By the grace of God, I’m going to teach my children what the Bible says.

I brought up males because I believe it can be painful not to release what has been built up. Especially for teenage boys.

And what about girls? Do you recognize the intensity of their sexual feelings?

Sounds like there are some double standards going on here.

Is there a double standard here:

Matthew 5:28-30 King James Version (KJV)

28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Christ did not mention girls here.

In any case, I absolutely recognize the intense feelings of girls.

I don’t believe the act of masturbation is a sin. We can agree to disagree.

I would say that it is. It is a lustful act.

As per whether or not there's pain or an unbearable urge... There isn't pain caused by it. God doesn't lay more on us than we can handle, but the urges can prove... Difficult at times. It's like it can consume your thoughts and distract you, but that is why I advise prayer. In all things, restraint is wonderful. It may not be impossible to avoid such a thing completely, true, but that is by no means permission to emission.

Are you suggesting that the Bible doesn’t teach that having sex with a child is a sin?

As for everything else you mentioned, I believe they are ALL in the Bible. Porn is not mentioned specifically(I said there are obviously things that were not around in biblical times, therefore they aren’t  mentioned in Scripture), but we can use discernment and know that everything about porn is wrong and that there are specific Bible verses that clue us in starting with Phil 4:8.

No, I'm not suggesting that teaching against having sex with children is not in the Bible - I'm telling you.  It's not in the Bible.  Does that make it OK?  No, it does not.  If every single sin that mankind can commit were in the Bible, we would have to carry our Bibles around in a wheelbarrow.

I've been reading the Bible for 40 years and teaching it for at least 15 years.  I've had this discussion with many who have found the same thing.  There a many sins that we KNOW are wrong and harmful and lead to further sin that are not described in the Bible.

No, the things I listed that were not in the Bible are NOT in the Bible.

  •  Lesbianism was not in the Law.  Only male homosexuality was.  Lesbianism is not found until Romans chapter 1.  Was it overlooked as sin in the Old Testament?  No.  Even though it was not listed as a sin in the Old Testament.....it was.
  •  Child abuse is not addressed in the Bible.  Is it still sinful?  Yes, it is vile.

Renee, porn has been around since the first man picked up the first stick to draw with, used berries to paint with, and used a tool to hammer and carve.

Even before Jesus' days, there were pornographic images drawn and painted and sold to people.  Some pretty vile stuff, too.

Are you trying to say that Jack Deere ended up in a brothel with 14-year-old girls BECAUSE he taught self-gratification is wrong?  Surely not.

If so, I know endless amounts of men who believe self-gratification is not for them who have NOT ended up in a brothel with 14-year-old girls.

About your boys, how are you going to teach them to protect their minds and hearts?  Besides, not one single person here has said that we are to teach our children to not touch their bodies until they are married.  Not one.

The act isn't and shouldn't be the point. The point is WHAT"S GOING ON IN YOUR MIND AT THE TIME. Are we betraying God's word or are we satisfying a need in a Godly way. What we think about is what can lead us to sin. Therefore we should guard our thoughts and minds and focus on Godly things.

God's word says we are to take every thought into submission.

We all know the verses that teach us to control our thoughts.

Why do we act like we're in Christianity 101???

This is not about rules and regulations (LEGALISM ), this is about how you live for God and with GOD from your heart. We are to live everything through our love for our SAVIOR including the God GIVEN act of masturbation. A Godly release to be used with the right HEART condition.

Do you think God turns His back while you satisfy yourself. He not only see's you do this every time, but knows exactly why and the thoughts you use to "GET OFF".

First, you originally said that child “abuse” is not in the Bible. I quoted you incorrectly.Let’s look at what abuse means:

abuse

verb

/əˈbyo͞oz/

use (something) to bad effect or for a bad purpose; misuse."the judge abused his power by imposing the fines"

2.
treat (a person or an animal) with cruelty or violence, especially regularly or repeatedly

I believe the Bible  teaches against abuse.

Second, our government has said child abuse is a crime. The Bible says God set up government to punish evil doers. Romans 13.

I also need to go back and read commentary on Leviticus 18 to see if it alludes to not having sex with children. I believe it addresses  not  having sex with sons and daughters. MOST people who endure sex abuse as a child endure it at the hands of someone related to them.

Congratulations. I’m actually enjoying following your Psalms challenge.
