Jesus said that a better man the John The Baptist never existed.....I don’t think trump and John should be mentioned in the same sentence

I don't think Donald has made such a comparison. He likes to point to his accomplishments, but he almost has to, because the mainstream media seems to want to put him in the worst possible light.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It might be safe to assume we probably won't see that happening either.

So where are the similarities between Trump and John the Baptist if one never mentions Him and the other was all about Him?

btw, Trump says he has never ever asked for forgiveness.

I think both John the Baptist and Donald Trump have shown disdain for people in high places who act selfishly.

Well, sure. Notice though in scriptures John's humbleness.

Mark 1:7 7And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.

Matthew 3:11 11I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

John 1:27 27He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

Acts 13:25 25And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.

What can you do when the mainstream media is trying to destroy your presidency? Would you handle it any differently?

When it comes to politicians I'm wary about any religious beliefs they profess. If they speak of faith in Jesus that's a good start, but it's also important to look at their policies and voting history as a whole. All too often we have politicians who profess Christianity but endorse laws and policies that are a far cry from Scripture.

Would kissing babies, handing out cigars, or having a 'beer bash' out on the front lawn of the White House help a presidential campaign at this point? It's done wonders in the rather distant past. :whistling:

In my opinion, you are giving the media too much credit. They are not trying to destroy his presidency. They could careless who is president. They go where the money is. If bashing him sells papers, they will bash him.

I was wondering if anyone saw a similarity between Donald Trump and John the Baptist (the one in the Bible - not me).

If I ever hear of Trump in a five star restaurant ordering Melania a bowl of locusts with a side of honey; I'll start looking for similarities

But seriously, I don't see Trump as a forerunner of anything, with the possible exception of; his work on the Israeli peace process. I'm thinking this could be a forerunner of the one the Antichrist confirms or parts of it. I'm thinking the "Temple" being rebuilt will be the key to everything? I think the Bible is pretty clear there will never be a two state solution.

I see trump more as our Cyrus.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/31/opinion/trump-evangelicals-cyrus-king.html

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ezra+1%3A1-10%3A14&version=NIRV

NOTE: The NYT story is horribly biased, but the core point is a sound one: A representive leader that "saves the day" does not have to be an overt Believer in all their actions. In fact, look at David.
