Many years I've been lookin' for a place to call home
But I still haven't found it so I must travel on
I don't care for fine mansions on earth's sinkin sand
Lord build me just a cabin in the corner of Gloryland

Lord build me just a cabin in the corner of Gloryland
In the shade of the tree of life where it may ever stand
Where I can hear the angels and shake Jesus' hand
Lord build me a cabin in the corner of Gloryland

Lord I'm not askin' to live in the midst
For I know that I'm not worthy of such splendor as this

I pray for His mercy while humbly I stand
Lord build me a cabin in the corner of Gloryland

I've many dear loved one's who've gone on this way
On the grapevine of mournin' shall I hear them all say
Come and join in the singin' and play in the Angel Band
For the Lord's built you a cabin in the corner of Gloryland

Not sure if people in heaven will have living quarters. Living quarters we have on earth are built for the comfort of The Human Body. Once a person goes to heaven they leave the human body on earth. The body one has in heaven will not need comforts of a human body.

Makes me think of the song "I'll have a mansion just over the hilltop"

Unworthyservant,

Maybe the author of the lyrics was thinking something along the lines of:

  • John 14:3, "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also."
