Are barn cats like alley cats or strays? Lol. They do have pesticides that are all plant based and safe for animals, like Essentria. It’ll have your whole house smelling like mint, but it kills everything from roaches to bed bugs.

Actually I make a peppermint spray for spiders:)

I have a special recipe made with boric acid, sugar and warm water. I also had a problem with ants but after using this stuff they have been completely gone. But you do not want to use it around small children or animals.

We use "Ants be gone if we have a problem.. "

But what I use is cheap and very natural. I am very choosy what I use in my house and around my house. NO PESTICIDES! They cause cancer.

White vinegar can get rid of spiders. You have to use it full strength.

I had an infestation of box elder beetles. I don't know what kind of beetles you have. There were hundreds of them all over the house. I got rid of them with a high power spray bottle with full strength white vinegar and Dawn dish washing soap.

Lol yep, soap can kill them. They love any Side of the house that the sunshine’s aimed at. They can bite a little too.

Mice hate peppermint. They will not go anywhere that there is the scent of peppermint. I fill a small spray bottle with water and put 4 or five drops of pure peppermint oil in the bottle and shake to combine the peppermint and the oil. I spray around where I think there will be mice. They can get into a garage during the winter when it is cold. They can get into the engine of your car and chew on the wires. That has the potential to ruin your car.

where can I buy those gel beads?

The gel comes in a tube....you just place dabs of it inside the cracks of your drawers and cabinets.   Many years ago our apartment building exterminator did that for me.   It really worked!!!   Haven't seen a roach since then!!   I heard Home Depot has it, probably Amazon, too.

Also, a friend says Diatomaceous Earth is safe and kills roaches and several other crawling insects.   All size bags available...

To the OP, if you live in an apartment, ask for the gel treatment from your manager.    Otherwise, buy Diatomaceous Earth or Boric Acid.

As I said I was mistaken,we never had cock croaches but beetles, this year wasn't too bad and my husband sprinkles lime around the house. :) Debp, I don't like crawling insects :) We don't live in a apartment but in a old farmhouse  :)
