Honestly, a Denial of Service attack can come out of nowhere ... whereby bots are flooding the server with information. If you notice, the number of GUESTS -- gets to over 200 people at any time -- usually it's a flooding of bots. Earlier during the craziness there was hundreds over the normal amount. I checked their IP addresses ... and started blocking as best as I could. But once they started I couldn't simply block IP blocks ... I had to shut down access to several countries from which the denial of service attack happened. I'll go with what our leader has to say about it. Sounds about right. Glad that whole ordeal is over for this round. Obviously, this thread will be picked up again. Trolls and bots flock to sites that are conservative - both religiously and politically. Is there anything helpful we can do if/when we see the "guest bot" flare up? Would it help if we signed off and logged back in later? I know on Monday when it was really bad, I was trying to catch up after being off the site during the weekend. I just kept plugging away during the slow-down. Part of this is the parsing by intelligence services especially between UK, Israel and the USA. Not to mention Goggle snooping and 'others' looking for saleable titbits.
