Hi,

It is not my intention to undermine anyone's intellect with anything I may state here in this thread, but I do wish to address what I believe to be a complete failure in proper reasoning and understanding of many things written in scripture as being litterial when they are indeed figurative.

Throughtout scripture, the Holy Spirit uses the things of this world which are literal things that we have to look upon as help in our reasonings of that which is of a spiritual nature.

Since we have no knowledge or reasoning of the spiritual world and are in need of being taught, the Holy Spirit has used the things of this world that we can relate too as symbols, metaphours, edoms and like such to help us with properly reasoning a thing out.

A diciple [student of Godfs word] needs to be aware of this and look for these things when studding the scriptures.

Example: The locust army mentioned in Revelations.

This is not a litterial army. but is addrerssed that way for Gods chiuldren to reason out that a force will be let loose upon the earth that will consume everything as a literal locust consumes everything in its path.

Since the locust is figurative in the end time and not a literal creature, then that which it consumes is not a literal thing, so we must reason out that the substance which we need to survive and be healthy that is taken away by this locust army is spirtual and not literial.

So what is this substance that Gods children need to survive and be healthy?

Gods word, which is living food for all of Gods children and able to save them.

The locust army "Spirit" will consume "cause the teaching of Gods truths to cease" by muddleing the waters so as to prevent the truth from being recognized.

This is the famine of the end time as stated in the prophets: Amo 8:11

So be aware of these things and seek understanding from the Lord who gives freely unto those who seek Him.

Hope this helps someone.

God Bless

Perhaps a study in dispensations would help you to understand things more fully as they are.

Not just your opinion, Dennis. Theologians into dispensational teaching know this well.

FYI, there are no such things as demons, they are daimons- to distribute fortunes, which is self. The jews believed in demons being ancestors, who would pass down to them traits like alcoholism etc. Yeshua cast out self, as it can send you crazy, like schizophrenia, which is why the pigs threw themselves off the cliff, they couldn't stand all that self! By the way, other areas & cultures also have their so called demonic beings that are myth, like genies for the arabs, faeries for the celts, & guardian angels for the romans.

You have never encountered one. It was not a myth or a "self" that some of us have encountered.

I agree that a "student of God's word" needs to be aware that some things in the Bible are literal and some are metaphorical or as you say figurative. (Even in the teachings of Christ) I just want to add that I believe that if a person studies the LITERAL teachings of Christ first and does them, then there's not so much to digest in the beginning. In Matthew 7:24 Christ says “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock". (Literal teaching) Only then can one ever begin to understand the more nuanced studies or commentaries or even the metaphorical references themselves.

Yes.  The locust army is a metaphor or symbolic of Satan’s army that appears when Satan is released from the bottomless pit.  The locusts are not bugs at all; they are men—Satan’s army, full of deception and lies.  Let’s not be deceived by the antichrist when he appears, folks.  He comes at the 6th trump.  Who comes at the 7th?  Our Messiah!

If these are men... They're going to be some awful ugly men  :amen:

Thanks for all the replies and all are welcome unto their opinions pertaining to the teachings of the Holy Scriptures.

It was only my intent to help enlighten some who may have not been instructed pertaining to the literal and figurative reasonings of scripture so that they may properly divide the word of truth as instructed by the Holy Spirit.

As concerning the book of Revelations, unless the literal and figurative reasonings are properly divided, the understandings as they are being taught today in our assemblies are just fictional.

That which is literal pertains to the earth or this natural existence and that which is figurative pertains to the heavenly or spiritual existence and there are scripture that pertains to both the literal and figurative at the same time.

Not everyone is a self made scholar of scripture, and there are still those who could use a little help.

We are called to both Learn" and "Teach" at the same time.

Have a good day and God Bless

JTF
