If you could go back to the past what piece of advice would you give your young self?

Leave the RCC, and find the gospel truth sooner.
Quit smoking.
Go find and meet my wife sooner.
Don't sell the 49 VW split.
Go for the first sheave and start sowing seeds.......

I would have told myself not to damage my self esteem by looking for love in all the wrong places. I thought my sexuality gave me power.... and I was very wrong. I have asked for God's forgiveness and know that He has and I am grateful, but I still did great psychological damage to myself. I wish I knew the love of God could have given me that love I was wanting so very much, before, in my confusion, I thought love looked like sexual intimacy. Even over 40 years later, I look back at those years with great sadness, because I didn't know better.

I don't think I would do anything to change my past as without all the horrid mistakes I made I wouldn't be who I am today nor would I have my children, grandchildren and greatgrandchild .. Could I have lived a better/ happier life YES YES YES    BUT would I be happy now? would I have helped those I met along my path ?   I THANK GOD that time travel is not possible so I don't undo things and possibly make things even worse :emot-fail:

I'd tell myself that it gets better and to take the time to find "you" and let yourself heal from the past. That being alone isn't terrible and you're worth fighting for and you're more loved than you know (My mom died when I was 18 and I rushed into a lot of things based upon fear and needing to survive).

I'd also remind myself to enjoy life and that carbs are not your friend (eat a salad girl).

Yes, among many of my failures without Jesus in my life.

Don't wait until you are 44 to come to Jesus.

I would tell myself:  follow all the discrepancies in scripture, you'll get to a place of accepting that you are not good enough, ever.  And just trust that Jesus is.

Ha, funny I guess it is a quick quip anyway.

I am tempted to say, I would advise myself to not change a thing, because of my first wife! In fact that is what I think.

If anything I'd go back and say what a fortunate man are you. Look at that gal in the Girl Scout uniform, the one with all the badges on a sash and the pony tail. God is going to introduce you to her tomorrow. Be glad. Get busy making a life for you both that you will endure together  so fortunate even in all the harshness of this world.

If I could go back to the past, I would try to convince myself to just deal with the bullying. I went from being a straight  A honor student, to barely graduating from high school because I just gave up at 16 yrs. old. I had been bullied since I entered the school system. Had I stayed an honor student, I would not have ended up in a place I ended up,  and met the evil people that I met who eventually damaged me. I wish I would have told myself "This too shall past."

If your kids are being bullied, please take it seriously. It can affect their self-esteem and make them vulnerable later in life.

Missmuffet,

I would definitely change my sinful empty lifestyle.  It was all about me and having fun and enjoying the parties.
