I only watched part of one of the movies.  They do seem to be full of witchcraft and occult.   At least the old fairy tales had clearly defined good and evil, and psychologist first endorsed them for that reason.  Since then there has been a proliferation of occult but with evil being called good.

The congregants of our church were warned about the Potter series when they started coming out to local theaters. The books were also discouraged, and one of the members is a librarian. Well, she got her nose all bent out of shape, and took personal insult, saying they were literary classics. I'll admit to viewing some of the movies, as my current setting has them for sharing? Don't ask. I'd have to say, they are dark and too witchy for my personal taste. The later ones were even more sinister than the earlier. Not my particular choice in films.  1552020852_smirkemoji.gif.059e75aa82c4683d2516f0a3df0b304f.gif

I do not support and I have never supported the Harry Potter books or movies.

I have talked with a couple of people who are unbelievers and they loved the books and movies. But even they said that they became darker and darker as the series went on.

Darker and darker, yes.  There were comedic and childish elements in the first few, but as the story grew to a head - with the final confrontation against evil with good prevailing - it lost some of  it's comedy elements and gained some frightening elements.

However, Harry had to be willing to give his life in order for good to prevail.

This s how they sell evil as being good .   They always paint a thing known as light and dark scorcery or witchcraft .  Always make their seem to be a GOOD SIDE .

WHEN IN TRUTH ,    THE HOLY GOD smiles not at any scorecy and witchcraft .

Folks ,   Look how kind and nice that soothsayer was that even fed king saul meat .  YET GOD HATES THIS PRATICE .

Don't matter if they are a loving grandma and grandpa , give over ninety five percent of their money away and hug every creature and every person .  ITS EVIL .

And that is simply how black and white this is .       Maryjane ,   guess we know I aint even close to be soft sold on a thing contrary to scripture .   That should make you leap up

and rejoice with joy .     Now put those hands up and just holler out praises to the LORD .

I read all the books as they came out and loved them. The 'witchcraft' in them is nothing like real witchcraft; it's pure fantasy. It's like a parallel universe, where the problems that we have can be looked at from a different angle, which can be quite enlightening. Good and evil are clearly defined, and the many different forms that evil can take are dramatised. And what leads to the happy ending is not some dark or even 'light' magic, but the good old-fashioned virtues of love, courage, loyalty and teamwork - and even faith!

I've seen some of the films, and they aren't as good - darker and less thoughtful. Film directors these days do seem to enjoy their special effects so much, the storyline often suffers.

When it comes to the other spin-offs, I have nothing to do with them. It's the witchcraft side that gets commercialised (no surprises there), and there are no redeeming features to it.
