One must die to the old nature before the new nature can grow. Christ came to free us from our fallen nature’s, but death is the only thing that can end the nature’s we inherited from Adam. This is why death must come first. This death that Christ died on the cross was not to appease a infinite wrath in God toward mankind. It was to take mankind to and through death so man could be born again, could be re-created in righteousness, be given the Divine Nature as the nature of his life. Where it would be as natural to live in righteousness is Adam’s fallen nature was natural to live in unrighteousness. This exchange is done by believing and having faith in what Christ accomplished on the cross for us. But we must want to die to everything of the old nature, than with the faith of the heart turn to Christ for the operation of God in us. This is a constant turning to Him moment by moment, second by second as we go through our day. It is a continual faith pointed towards Him to live His life in and through us.... For the just shall live by faith. For just as we all have received the Spirit by the hearing with faith, in just the same way are we to walk... By the hearing with faith. Faith in the operation of God in us. This is the simplicity of the Gospel of God.... It all comes through the faith of the heart turned towards God.... Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. For the first time I notice the kindness Paul had towards the "Gentiles" believers in the Churches... He did not made a reference to the ten commandments, who were given to people who were not under the blood of Jesus Christ.. And came under a different system... Paul is very careful not to guide the Gentiles with the fear of punishment and rejection from God....when they realized that they have been doing something wrong a big part of their lives...Paul was careful to protect the people from feelings of grief upon realisation.. He is very careful not to motivate the "Gentile believers with the fear of punishment.... He knows that they were called to faith and included in the family of God in Jesus Christ as they were.... He is guiding them into developing a new conscience... He is giving them the knowledge, a list of some of the things to reflect upon...and stay away from... Paul never used words such as "repent"... In their situation this is not the right guidance for them...words such as this suggest that the people knew what is the right thing to do...and they did something in their knowledge that it is wrong.....this situation suggest "guilt"...it is applicable to the Jews....who knew it was wrong to do those things....and there is no need to tell the Jews or those who Knew what they were involve with...it was wrong.... "renew your minds", and accept what this or that is wrong because they have this understanding and knowledge....to them with the knowledge we can say "repent", or "is wrong to do this or that", refrain from doing this or that and they understand what is all about... The "Gentile believers", had to be taught what is the right thing to do....to renew their minds....to learn a new thing....to develop a new conscience... Paul understood in their culture some of those things were part of the lives of those who now believe in Jesus Christ....they do not have to feel guilty for doing things as unbelievers...in their past life.....only after renewing their mind as to what is the new way and being understood to them, they will be able to examine themselves... During the growth period...from an old way to the new way they need to afford the liency of the transitional period and not burden them with guilty feelings and feelings of failure...and worthy to be rejected....only after they have establish them selves in the new way and then go back to the old...then they can judge them selves more severely... I notice that Paul does not give them the ten commandments as a guide....but he points to how Jesus treat and accept the others...with compassion and acceptance...forgiving and guiding....live in righteousness...not cheating and deceiving...and without malice...and not thinking how to revenge... I thank you for your thoughts. As far as I am aware, all people that were born from Adam have inherited the same fallen nature. It was this nature that we were separated from by our deaths with Christ on the cross with Him. Those that by faith believe and reckon this true, can now, by faith walk in newness of life. This faith continually pointed towards God causes the Divine Nature, which is the new birth, to grow, which causes Christ to be manifested in and through their life’s. For we all need to go through the same death and resurrection as Christ. This is the salvation offered in Christ and all are invited to Him.
