:)Some of you know that I loooove Christian music. Messianic is a favorite of mine and is mentioned in my profile interests. But I also started a thread called " Let us Lift Up The Name Of The Lord-Through Hymns." Then there is Jesus music (from the 1970's to 1980's.) It was the kind I grew up on in my early years of being saved. Keith Green, Petra, Phil Keaggy, etc. I appreciate some of the newer music, too.

Recently, I was thinking about how lyrics have the ability to really get you to thinking. They are like mini sermons, in a way. They can deal with important messages ranging from abortion to suicide and everything inbetween. Sometimes a short, but hard hitting message set to music can make more of an impact that a sermon that is soon forgotten. (no offense to sermons, of course. :))Plus, you play songs over and over so you often memorize the words in the process.

The thing about songs is they are catchy and so they stick in your head. I know some don't care for the contemporary sounds. I understand your convictions and we all have unique tastes in styles. The purpose for this thread is not to debate that. But rather to share Christian song LYRICS that have left an impact on our lives.

So I will post a few that speak to me and hope maybe they will do the same to you. I would likewise appreciate hearing some of yours. I hope and pray this thread will be thought-provoking, in a good sort of way.

Thanks for putting up with my :b:lol long-winded  intro.

Mercy Me - I can only imagine.

As this is something that I often think about. How will we feel when we are there looking straight at Him, and He is looking directly at us, individually!

"I Can Only Imagine"

I can only imagine what it will be like
When I walk by Your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see
When Your face is before me
I can only imagine, yeah

Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for You, Jesus
Or in awe of You be still?

Will I stand in Your presence
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?

I can only imagine
I can only imagine

I can only imagine when that day comes
And I find myself standing in the sun/son
I can only imagine when all I will do
Is forever—forever worship You

I can only imagine, yeah
I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for You, Jesus
Or in awe of You be still?

Will I stand in Your presence
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?

I can only imagine, yeah
I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for You, Jesus
Or in awe of You be still?

Will I stand in Your presence
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?

I can only imagine, yeah
I can only imagine

I can only imagine
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever—forever worship You

I can only imagine

Well out of several songs that hit me like a brick is ten thousand reasons by Matt Redman, and Amen by Stevin Curtis Chapman.

You have given us
A new name
The sons and daughters of your righteousness
You have taking all of our shame
And given us the gift of holiness
Lord we're crying out for faith
To believe the words you say

You say we are loved
You say we belong to you
Your grace is enough
Nothing more that we can do
You say we've been bought by your blood, by your blood
And all that we can say is amen

You have given us a new hope
An anchor for the soul that shall not fail
Jesus we believe your truth shines
Yes in the darkest night, you shall prevail,
Lord we're crying out for faith
To believe the words you say

You say we are loved
You say we belong to you
Your grace is enough
Nothing more that we can do
You say we've been bought by your blood, by your blood
And all that we can say is amen

Amen, your word is true
Amen, we trust in you

Amen, your word is true
Amen, we trust in you

Amen, your word is true
Amen, we trust in you

Amen, your word is true
Amen, we trust in you

You say we are loved
You say we belong to you
Your grace is enough
Nothing more that we can do
You say we've been bought by your blood, by your blood
And all that we can say is amen

Amen

Encapsulated in two songs “ Just as I Am” and  “ Nothing But The Blood” is enough info to save the world, if the world would believe what these two songs were saying......

I love this song a lot.  I listen to it on my daily walks and it still brings tears to my eyes.  It’s our Abba Father speaking to us.  And the notes are beautiful. :emot-heartbeat:

Amen. It is very comforting. This song has special meaning to me, too because it comes from one of the earliest Christian records I ever owned (1974)

It was also my first introduction to Messianic music. I wore my Lamb records out! I love that they are heavily based on scripture. Many of the lyrics are pulled straight out of the Bible. Thanks for posting this wonderful song, Sonshine :)

That was the music being played when I was saved in '86,, ...along with the Praise Music, ...that is the music I brought with me in '91, wore out the cassettes, ...praise the Lord for YouTube, ...I also enjoy Terry Clark.

@JustPassingThru :amen:Excellent! I went over and watched several Terry Clark videos after reading your post. I came across one (a scripture song) from his Maranatha days. I posted it especially for you :) I hope you go over there to play it (and anyone else who is interested.) GBU.

Here is the shortcut link to it.

Hi,

Sanctify -Kaddish is one of my personal favorite praises.- By Baht Rivka Whitten. I have posted it on Christian Music category  here in the past.

Psalm 46 (Lord Of Hosts) is another, it has become the anthem of one of the local bodies of Christ that I affiliate with weekly (Usually on Thursday evenings) when in town. "Our" own body, led by a wondrous voiced woman of the body of Christ, is a  more power filled version than Shane and Shane's

And the two personal stories; one as imagined or envisioned of another which is written  about Mary Magdelene  "In The Garden", plus the other a personal testimony "It Is Well With My Soul", having been written by Haratio Spafford  quickly at the  presumed sight of his children's death at sea..

Thanks turtletwo for thinking of me, I appreciate it very much sister, ...back in the States our Church hosted a Pastor's Conference and a Worship Leaders Conference, in the months of March and May, Terry led worship at the Pastor's Conference and taught at the Worship Leaders Conference. The Conferences was held at the Presbyterian Conference Center at Lake Tahoe, CA, it was there I experienced worship so profound..., in March it snows all of the time, kinda like sealing us in, and when Terry would worship the Holy Spirit would come in such force, it was like a thick fog, so thick it was like it could be cut with a knife, ...interesting thing is there wasn't any hooting or hollering, croaking or barking, running laps or falling over, no..., Terry had quit playing and all was silent, there were grown men and their wives, standing with outstretched arms, their were those that sat with raised hands and there were those that were on their knees, ...and there was so much Love, so much Love that Terry had to stop it because we felt like we would die from being Loved so much.

Thanks again dear one for the memories.

Lord bless
