Just like that?

Yeah. I can't speak for all areas but in the US it would likely fall under the heading of failure to report a felony and/or criminal negligence depending on the specific circumstances. Spiritually speaking Ezekiel 33 talks about a similar situation where a watchman is supposed to sound the alert if he sees an enemy approaching. If he sees the enemy coming and remains silent then he has blood on his hands for it.

Well Peeday,

It seems despite the advice given you are unwilling to break the trust of this "close friend". Your friend is even counting on you to keep silent if he proceeds with the crime. At this point, you have to carefully ponder what God says in His Word about keeping company with others who do criminal activity. You get tainted with them. I know this is not a easy decision to make, but even if I had such a friend who gave me the amount of trust you have for each other, I could not keep silent if the crime as you say is a serious one was committed. I don't know if you are a believer but God in His Word tells us not to please man but to please Him. I would pray for guidance and strength in doing the right thing.

This is one of the very few people I know to have a good heart even though he got involved with doing some pretty bad stuffs.

Sorry your perception is flawed.

Getting involved in pretty bad stuff is not a sign of a good heart.

Warn him and leave him, if he is telling you about intended crimes, making you an accessory.

That was easy for u?

A friend is one that tells the truth and always acts in your best interest. A friend in the bible is one that you KNOW will always do the right thing, even if it hurts. You know this else you would not ask us.

Would you report a very close friend to the authorities if you knew he is about to commit a serious crime and he told you about it.

Yes.   Of course, first I would try to talk him out of it.   Talk as the Lord leads you to see why he wants to commit the crime.

As others said, you could get arrested for not reporting a crime you knew about.   If someone dies in the course of the crime, you could be charged with their death, too.

A short time spent in prison or an eternity spent in hell?   If he was a true friend he wouldn't put you in such a position unless he is hoping that you WILL stop him from committing this crime ?   You don't say what sort of crime he is planning so naturally everyone assumes the worse but ANY  crime hurts someone there is no such thing as a victimless crime and committing a crime is going to hurt him too IF you are his real friend then you will do anything to stop this crime from happening INCLUDING reporting him to someone who can stop it even if you cannot do so yourself ..I have known parents who have reported a crime committed by their own children and after the initial anger in most cases if the person is really a " good " person they have come to understand that it was done in love and in the hope they could prevent damage to both the victim and the perpetrator

If you have come here trying to find people to agree that you are being a good friend by NOT reporting this then you are doomed to disappointment here and in your friendship with this person :th_praying:

I threatened I was going to report him but he is not backing down cos he thinks I can never do that. He believes I will never stab him in the back. In his words, if trusting u will cost me my freedom then so be it.

This is trust bro, with his life. Ever see anyone place such amount of trust in you?

He may be putting his trust in you, but it also sound like he's trying to make you feel guilty so that you wouldn't report it.  You shouldn't be given the 'guilt trip' .

How do you do that without reporting him.?

I think you need to re-read my post. I said I would report them without a doubt.

It is worse that he had told you outta trust placing his own life and freedom in your hand, how do u just report him?

I realize the relationship and the trust of your friend's situation with you. Still, just knowing makes you an accessory and that's a major impact on you personally speaking. This is very serious, so please to the right thing.
