European Christian Antisemitism

European Antisemitism

Coinciding with a a new wave of European anti-Semitism, the fiscus Judaicus (Latin for "Jewish tax") made a return in 1342 under a new name during the reign of Emperor Louis IV the Bavarian, who ordered all Jews above the age twelve and possessing twenty guldens to pay one gulden annually for protection. The practice was justified on the grounds that the emperor, as legal successor of the Roman emperors, was rightful recipient of the temple tax  that Jews paid to the Romans after the destruction of the second temple. Again, adding insult to injury, the tax was collected on Christmas day.

In 1290, England expelled the Jews on an auspicious day in Jewish history - the ninth of Av, the date both the first and the second temples were destroyed.

In 1306, France expelled the Jews two days before the the ninth of Av on the Hebrew calendar.

In 1492, Spain expelled the Jews on the tenth of Av.

In 1941, German SS commander Heinrich Himmler received formal approval from the Nazi Party for the "Final Solution" on the ninth of Av, launching the Holocaust in which one-third of the world's Jewish population perished.

The Christian Church, throughout that history, has too often played the role of bystander - or persecutor.

If the Christian Church had raised a standard against the evil of Nazism; Italy I have no doubt would not have gone Fascist and joined Hitler. Even today as Antisemitism again rises all across Europe; where are the Christians raising a godly standard against it?  Where is the outcry? Where are the Church Leaders protesting this scourge that took so many millions of lives across Europe? https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/documenting-numbers-of-victims-of-the-holocaust-and-nazi-persecution

So where are the European Churches such as the Catholic Church? Why is there no godly standard being raised against this? Why is European Christianity making the same mistakes they made with Adolf Hitler and Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini? Why is Mein Kampf a No.1 Book Seller again not only in Europe but all across the Middle East?

WHY doesn't anyone including  Christianity seem to care?

Is It Time for the Jews to Leave Europe? - https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2015/04/is-it-time-for-the-jews-to-leave-europe/386279/

Now, I can't speak for anyone but myself however since I tried to emigrate from the USA and go to Israel back in early 1973 and I'm not Jewish I think that pretty much answers how I feel.  :th_wave: I would not spend another day in Europe now that there is a nation of ISRAEL; if I were Jewish! Hebrew name for Israel is   יִשְׂרָאֵל (Yisrael). Remember Hebrew is read from right to left.

According to the Biblical explanation, the first part of the name "Israel" is derived of the verb לִשְׂרות (lisrot, "wrestle"); the second half of the name is אֵל (El, "God"). This name was given to Jacob because he wrestled with God's angel.

Why is Mein Kampf a No.1 Book Seller again?

In reading recently, the upsurge in the current rise of neo-nazism both in the United States and throughout Europe, comes as little surprise. The terrorism is instilling rampant fear among the nations as well. Fascism is literally running rampant among the world's nations like never before. Hate groups are marching the streets, looking for the weak and vulnerable to victimize. But, how can we stop this?

Christian Persecution of Jews over the Centuries

Churches who were at one time anti-semite are not putting into check their agenda of hatred. Things have taken a dramatic turn-around from the prior stance against judaism as a whole. Thank the good Lord this now changing. And for the better as a whole. And yet, there's so much more to develop a noticeable change.

Christians as individuals and as Christian Denominations need to take more of a public stand against it all!

Isaiah 59:19 King James Version (KJV)

19 So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.
