Revelation 13:1   And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

Revelation 17:12   And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

John saw the horns in Rev 13.  He saw them when they received their crowns.  He got that vision first - of them ruling.  Now in Chapter 17, he is shown that these 10 horns were not in existence *then* during John's day - when Rome was in power. It's clear they were not on the scene then, but to come (future).

Revelation 17:13   These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

Revelation 17:14   These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

The 10 horns shall make war with the Lamb.

Daniel 7:7   After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

Daniel 7:8   I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

Who came first?

The 10 horns?

or

the little horn?

The first beast is the 10 horns.  They sit on the 7th head (the last kingdom).

The 7 heads don't have crowns because they've come and gone.  Focus on the ones with the crowns.  They are the active ones.

Your explanation leaves out the 10 kings, who are a major part of this mystery.  The false prophet comes out of them.  They are working side by side.  Go back over Daniel.  He lays the groundwork for us to build upon, preparing us for the book of Revelation to understand better.

iamlamad,

I don't see the first beast as a person, but 10 horns with crowns.  Rev 17 goes back to what John saw previously in Chapter 13.

This first beast talks too.  It talks through it's laws and policies.  It also blasphemes.  It was given power to "continue 42 months", because it's been around for a long time preparing everything.  It has an "image".

The 2nd beast is the False Prophet.  He is the puppet of the 10 kings.  He is their voice.  The Son of Perdition.  He will claim he is God, through deception and lying wonders. The miracles he will perform is because of craft (technology) This kingdom is full of lies and smokescreens.  Everything is a lie, even the miracles.

2 Thessalonians 2:9   Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

Since the New Testament is the Old Testament explained, if the New Testament has information on a subject, we always form doctrine from the New Testament verses, and fill in missing pieces from Old Testament verses.

Question #1: are the then horns Daniel saw where the Little horn came up and took out three of the ten: are they the SAME ten horns John saw on the Beast?  No, they cannot be, because the ten horns from which the Little horn came ended up as SEVEN horns - and this perhaps is before the man of sin turns Beast.  On the other hand, or the ten we see in Revelation, John write this:

Revelation 17:12  And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

Revelation 17:16  And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.

Now think with me: it should be obvious, if these ten only receive power at the end of the week, for "one hour," And hate the whore (Jerusalem) and burn her with fire, how they these ten possibly be the ten when the Beast emerges and takes out three?  The answer is, they CANNOT be the same ten. The ten in Daniel come up first, as you said, before the Beast emerges. That would be BEFORE Rev. 13:1.  It may even be before the abomination (marked by the 7th trumpet) takes place.

Then the Beast is seen rising from waters (people groups), the false prophet shows up, and together, from the city of Jerusalem, they (these two men) begin to deceive the world. The man of sin (a man) turned Beast (13:1) and possessed by Satan,  declares to the world that HE - a man - is the God of the Jews - so the God of creation. The False prophet has false miracles of fire to PROVE that the Beast is indeed God.  Together they deceive the entire world. They also go on a murder rampage, catching and beheading all who refuse to bow and who refuse the Mark. This goes on for many months, but LESS than 42.

Satan knows when the week is drawing to a close, so sends out evil spirits to the kings of the world (Maybe 10 kings?) to draw their armies in to Israel. The Beast and False prophet leave Jerusalem, and with the combined armies, attach and burn Jerusalem.  HERE: at the end of the week, when Jerusalem is attacked, is where the 10 kings "throw in" with the Beast for "one hour."

Therefore, scriptures prove: TWO SETS of ten kings: of the first set of ten, three are taken out as the Beast emerges, but the other set of ten are not seen until the last "hour." Two sets of TEN, for TWO different purposes.

Therefore, in 13:1 and 17:12 the ten horns are the 2nd set of ten that throw in with the last for the final hour.  I suspect here that "ten" represents all that the devil can summon to Israel.

In Daniel, of course the ten hours came first, but turned into 7.

No, the first beast is not a kingdom of ten. The first beast is a MAN the church world calls the Antichrist and John calls the Beast. God is not going to throw a "kingdom" into the lake of fire. He will throw PEOPLE in.

Your explanation leaves out the 10 kings, who are a major part of this mystery.  No, I don't leave them out: I understand there are two sets of ten. Of the first set, when the Beast emerges, three of the ten are taken out. In other words, in Rev. 13: 1, at that time, there are only 7 of the ten - and John does not cover either the ten or the seven left.

The false prophet comes out of them.  Sorry, but John does not tell us WHERE the False Prophet came from - unless I missed it. If so, please show us the scripture for this.

The Son of Perdition.  I think this is the FIRST Beast, who gets possessed by Satan.

He will claim he is God, through deception and lying wonders. It is the FIRST beast that proclaims he is God. It is the False prophet that has miracles to prove it. Did you not notice that the false prophet can only do miracles when he is CLOSE to the first beast? That is because the POWER behind the false miracles is Satan himself, and Satan, at that time, is INSIDE the first Beast, possessing him.

The miracles he will perform is because of craft (technology)  No, because Satan has power to do false miracles. It is as simple as that.

Sister, I doubt if I have convinced you of anything, because I guess your mind is made up.

We therefore will continue to disagree.

This teaching is dangerous in my opinion.  When the two witnesses come onto the scene, many will think they are the Anti-christ and False Prophet.  Remember when they are killed the world rejoices.  Obviously they will think that the two witnessess are the bad ones.

Revelation 11:10   And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

Sister, the TRUTH is never dangerous except to our enemies. No believer will mistake the two witnesses as enemies, because they will have God's anointing upon them. And they will be testifying AGAINST the Beast when he emerges.

OF COURSE the world who is against God will be against the two witnesses: they will be blamed (Just as Elijah was) for three years of no rain! They may well be blamed for each of the vials of God's wrath.  It is my belief that these two will be Enoch and Elijah, the two men who never died. They are Old Testament saints, and will raise from the dead with ALL the Old Testament saints - at the 7th vial that ends the week.

Hi iamlamad;

I agree with you that Daniel 7 does represent the end times. The four beasts kingdoms as I see it would then represent the earth's 4 major social-economic systems. I think these systems are capitalist nations for one of the beasts, socialism for a second beast, emerging nations, who are also referred to as third world nations for a third beast, and Middle Eastern nations who policies consist of various aspects of the first three beasts policies as a fourth beast.

When we look for a comparison to these four beasts social-economic systems during the end times, we find the description of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse in Revelation 6. I believe the first horseman riding upon a white horse who goes about conquering to represent capitalist nations whose interest it is to secure other lands resources for personal consumption. The second horseman riding upon a red horse who initiates civil war among its constituents during the end times, I believe to represent socialist nations. The third horseman, riding a black horse who presides over its people to make sure they have sufficient to eat for their labor, I believe to represent emerging third world nations. And the fourth horseman who rides a speckled horse incorporating various aspects of the first three horseman, I believe to represent Middle Eastern nations.

Luigi, thanks for answering. So sorry, but I disagree with everything you wrote!

The first seal is to represent the church, sent out with the gospel - around 32 AD. Seals 2 through 4 are to represent the efforts of the devil to stop the gospel. The last three riders ride together. The first rider rides alone.

Seal 5 is for the martyrs of the church age. They must wait for the 6th seal, still on our future, that starts the Day of the Lord.

There are 4 beasts in Daniel.  The fourth terrible beast was to come.  It's the beast of the end times, the one existing during the days of Jesus' return.  When the 10 horns are established, they are not the only horns of this earth, but are in control of this fourth kingdom. In the latter days of their kingdom, before they receive their crowns,....there are OTHER HORNS existing, ...other kingdoms....other kings.  Is there not a horn of Russia?, or the USA or China existing today for example.  Think for a moment.   When the little horn comes up he will uproot three horns that were before him.  Automatically you think of the 10 horns, because they are mentioned?  Come out of this box... this way of thinking, because it's not going to harmonise with Rev, and guess what?  IT HAS TO.   This means three kings who have received power are on the world stage in existence before him (the little horn)  These are the three he will remove, the ones that have been here for a while so the 10 horns can take the lead.  He does not uproot his own kingdom, but others.  The 10 horns of his kingdom are tight.

Look at them here before they receive their crowns;

Revelation 17:12   And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

Revelation 17:13   These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

Does it appear that any of them get uprooted?  No, they have one mind.  They are tight.

This kingdom of the 10 horns conquers others.  That's how it gets to reign.

Look at their power and style;

Revelation 13:2   And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

He moves fast like a leopard, his feet like a bear tearing everything in it's path, (other kingdoms/horns) and a big loud mouth like a lion.  How else will he get to power if he doesn't trample and uproot other horns not of his kingdom, who are in his way?  This is his style.  This beast doesn't need a war to do it either.  He controls the money.  He lends out the money.  He can call in his loans at any time.  He can bankrupt nations at the drop of the hat or use other methods.  Look at what the USA is doing to China?  The USA alone can bring down China's strong economy, just by increasing the tariff's or stopping trade altogether.  This beast is bigger than the USA.  They can bring down the USA also.  They can bring down Russia, whoever is in the way, and whoever has a strong military force.

You don't always have to conquer through war and bloodshed, because there are other methods.

The whore is this system of the world, the way it's operating today.  All the buying and selling.  The beast hates this system and wants another system.  This system today is based on money.  It will be a new monetary system which they will bring in.  We cannot eat if we don't conform to their system.  We will starve.

How can you be mistaken over and over again after seeing proof that what you are saying is wrong? Read this again:

Now think with me: it should be obvious, if these ten only receive power at the end of the week, for "one hour," And hate the whore (Jerusalem) and burn her with fire, how they these ten possibly be the ten when the Beast emerges and takes out three?  The answer is, they CANNOT be the same ten. The ten in Daniel come up first, as you said, before the Beast emerges.

Notice carefully my argument. I will add to it since you missed the point entirely:

Dan. 7

I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots:

Notice that it is while the Little horn is emerging that three horns are taken out. In other words, when the Little horn is STARTING OUT - which cannot be late in the week after he and the False Prophet have "overcome the saints" for 3 years or so.  Ten minus 3 equals 7. So it is NO LONGER ten, but seven. And it is seven by the time he gets noticed. Note How John put it:

Rev. 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

Do you see it? "WHO is able to make war with him." Without any doubt he has conquered by this time - taken out three nations in the blink of an eye, so to speak: did it so quickly they world then seemed to think he was UN-conquerable.

What am I saying? This is in verse 4 of chapter 13, when He has barely risen up from the sea. He has perhaps 41 months of authority left. And now there are 7 (seven) not 10 (ten).

Now compare: at the END of the week, after the Beast's 42 months have almost run out, the devil draws in the armies of the world to wipe Israel off the map. This is where the "ten" with no kingdom as yet but receive authority with the Beast for "one hour." Sister, do you understand, this is the LAST hour before Christ returns? This is going to be around 3 years to 3.4 years AFTER the Beast took out three of ten and they became seven.  In other words, it is IMPOSSIBLE they can be the same ten.

I wonder if you see only one more coming of the Lord, when the bible tells us there will be TWO?

I wonder if you see only one more time the signs will be seen in the sun and moon, when the bible is clear there will be TWO more times?

The bible is clear: there is a set of TEN nations from which the Little horn springs up, taking out three and leaving seven as he emerges as a world leader.

On the other hand, there is a DIFFERENT set of ten that throw in with the Beast in the final hour, assembling their armies in Israel to fight at Armageddon. TWO sets of ten Kings for TWO different purposes.

Do you just ignore what John said about this woman riding the Beast? He wrote very plainly:

18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

It is NOT any "system of the world;" it is a CITY, and John is clear, that city is JERUSALEM. It is Jerusalem that will get burned with fire. It will be Jerusalem that will break into parts at the great earthquake that ends the week.

It is wise to form theories from the written word, so when challenged, the scripture can be shown in black and white to back up an argument

Sorry, but the church will not starve: we are going to be caught up before the week begins - guaranteed by the written word..

Look again at Daniel:

...it had ten horns.

I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots

REad it carefully: what horns get plucked up - from where or from what group? Note there are ten horns, and THERE CAME UP AMONG THEM....so the Little Horn is coming up among the ten. But AS he comes up, three of the ten are taken out. It does not matter HOW the three were plucked up, or God would have told us. But three are GONE and the little Horn becomes the 8th King. Note carefully, 8 comes after 7, not after 10. The three are now GONE.

Rev. 17:11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

What is this telling us? There is ten NO MORE! Now there is seven, 7 kings, each with a nation. and he becomes the 8th king. Note carefully, it is NOT the eleventh!

By the way, this DOES harmonize with Revelation, because the ten horns in Revelation are a DIFFERENT TEN that come along very late in the week. Just the TIMING alone proves they cannot be the same.

The 10 horns of his kingdom are tight.  MYTH! Proven a myth by the above verses.

This means three kings who have received power are on the world stage in existence before him (the little horn)  These are the three he will remove,  Sister, can we PLEASE just follow what is written? ALL TEN were on the scene before the Little Horn. He is a newcomer. Look around: is there a "king" over Iran? Is there a "king" over Jordan?  Is there a "king" over SAudi? Is there a "king" over every other nation surrounding Israel?  (All except Iraq which received a deadly wound and that "king" was taken out.) The Little Horn (or the first Beast of Revelation 13 being the same person) Is going to rise up somewhere in the Middle East, out of the nations we see TODAY. Many think he will come from Syria. He is going to conquer three and become the 8th king (10-3=7)

WHERE are the ten kings in Rev. 13? We see the False prophet telling the people to erect an image and create a mark. We don't see anything of the ten until chapter 17! And reading chapter 17 we understand these ten kings throw in with the beast almost AT THE END OF HIS 42 months. (See? Perfect harmony between Daniel and Revelation.) These ten are to represent the nations of the world that send troops to Armageddon. These ten have NOTHING (absolutely NOTHING) to do with the ten from whom the Little Horn emerged.

These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.  Does it appear that any of them get uprooted?  No, they have one mind.  They are tight.   The question is, WHEN do these ten get their authority? It is LATE LATE in the week, after the Beast and False Prophet will have murdered perhaps many million people. The Beast (really Satan inside the Beast) is desparate: he knows the 42 months are about to run out, so he sends out evil spirits to CALL IN those ten (probably to represent the major nations of the world with armies) to descend on Israel late in the week, or maybe after the week has finished.  (the 42 months of authority started last [of the 5 countdowns to the end] so will end last, AFTER the 7th vial has ended the week. There will be plenty of time for Satan to bring the armies of the world to Israel before Jesus returns.

He moves fast like a leopard, his feet like a bear   Hmmmm. Perhaps those three ribs in the bear's mouth represent the three horns taken out by the little horn.

I think you need further study. Just my opinion.

Can we do the three beastly powers first before we get to Islam?  This is what I wrote further back.

Let`s look at the emblems - Heraldry. O.Neubecker, Director of the `International Academy of Heraldry` and foremost authority in this field, explains -

`The appearance of a lion as a heraldic beast by no means indicates that it forms part of the native fauna of that country; its use comes from the significance attributed to it. The lion is the symbol of Royal Sovereignty and the eagle the symbol of Imperial Power.`

In combination we have the initial clue to the identity of this first contemporary super power to emerge. A sovereign Monarchy which exercised imperialistic power over a substantial area of the world. ie. An empire ruled by a Monarch.

Further revelation was given to Daniel. `As I looked its wings were plucked off.` (Dan. 7: 4) There is a fascinating double reference in this.

a) The empire lost its capacity for imperialistic expansion.

b) Part of the empire became a separate nation with the eagle as its emblem.

`It was made to stand on two feet like a man; and the spirit of a man was given to it.` (Dan. 7: 4)

Here is transformation. Until now the outlook and operation had been that of a powerful beast, imperialistically conquering, dominating and colonising. Suddenly there is a remarkable change to the higher qualities of the spirit of man. In Political language, co-exiting in freedom, peace and equality with its former dominions. An empire becomes a Commonwealth of nations.

So these are two powers that work together, the `lion and the eagle,` and they are very easily recognisable today. Who are they?

Marilyn.

Hi iamlamad,

Have you overlooked my comments? These are not my thoughts, but teaching from 50 years ago by very good teachers, and not just the latest whatever. I think they are at least worthy of a proper look and consideration.

Hi again iamlamad,

The book of Revelation was written circa 95 AD when John was exiled to the island of Patmos, during the persecution of the Christians by the Roman Emperor Domitan. So unless the book of Revelation is a historical account of events prior to 95 AD, the events under the seals are events after 95 AD. Additional corroboration that the events under the seven seals occur after the first century is Revelation 4:1 where John is called to heaven to be shown forthcoming events.

Revelation 4:1  After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

Most people thing John wrote "i will show you ONLY things which must be hereafter." The truth is, there is no "only" in that verse. God therefore could have shown John 2 or three events of the future, and finished the book with dozens of recipes for manna, and He would not have violated this verse. The truth is, God DID show John events that were "hereafter." But it is also true, God also showed John some events even of his, John's past. It is also very true, most people read over chapters 4 & 5 and totally miss what God is doing there.

You see, God had a problem: He wanted to introduce John to the book, sealed with 7 seals, but it is now 95 AD as you said. God wanted to start this introduction while the book was still in the hand of the Father. When was that? It was before Christ rose from the dead. So God had to come up with a way  - in the vision - so John and then all the readers, would know this was history to John, not future.

I studied these chapters for a few weeks, and finally got stuck on John weeping much. (It was the Holy Spirit, not me.) I could not seem to get away from that. I asked God why we needed to know that John wept, and why much? Finally He spoke and said only “It shows timing.” I heard His voice again, but this time recognized it was in my spirit.

I studied these chapters another couple of weeks, and could not find “timing” anywhere, so was frequently bugging God. Finally He spoke again and said, “it also show the movement of time.” I studied diligently, but I could not find any “movement of time” anywhere!

Finally God had mercy on me and spoke again:  “I will ask you three questions. Until you can answer them correctly you will never understand this part of John’s vision.” Then He asked me three questions.

This won’t be exactly word for word, for it has been a few years now, but it will be close.

1.“At the time John saw this vision, I had been back in heaven for years. There are a dozen verses showing that I went to be at the right hand of the Father. The first question then, Why did John not immediately see Me at the right hand of the Father in chapter 4?”

I answered, “I cannot answer that question.” Again He spoke.

2.“John watched a search to find one worthy to break the seals, end in failure, and that is the very reason John wept much: no man was found worthy. However, if you read ahead, you find that I was found worthy to break the seals.. Why then was I not found in that first search?”

Again I answered, “Lord, I cannot answer that.” Then He asked me the third question:

3.“If you notice in chapter 4, the Holy Spirit was still in the throne room. I told the disciples that as soon as I ascended, I would send Him down. Why was the Holy Spirit still in the throne room in chapter 4?”

Again I said that I could not answer His question. He did not say more at that time. I studied diligently on that vision of the throne room, trying to answer His questions. I could not see timing. I could not see the movement of time. I could not figure out why Jesus was not at the right hand of the Father. I could not figure out why “no man was found.” I could not figure out why the Holy Spirit was still there. I spent weeks looking, and bugging God for help.

Finally after two or three weeks of intense study, suddenly I heard His voice again! He said, “go and study chapter 12.” I did not want to. I was in an intense study of chapters 4 & 5, and the last thing I wanted to do was to go to another chapter. However, I was obedient, and flipped the pages to chapter 12. When I got my bible opened to chapter 12, He spoke again.

“Chapter 12 was Me introducing John to the Dragon, and in particular what the Dragon would be doing in the last half of the week. Count how many times the Dragon is mentioned, including pronouns.” So I counted, 32 times.

I replied, “I see that this chapter is about the dragon. I counted 32 times.” He spoke again.

“I also chose to show John how the dragon attempted to to kill me as a child. Those first five verses were a history lesson for John.”

I let that sink in, and suddenly He said, “now you can go back to chapters 4 & 5.”

I was amazed. I flipped back to the vision of the throne room, and in just a few minutes had the answer to all three questions! The key I needed was “history lesson.” I suddenly realized that John was looking into the throne room of the past, to a time perhaps just after Jesus was put in the tomb.

Jesus was not seen at the right hand of the father, for at that time was still on the earth or under the earth. From eternities past to eternities future, there has only been one small period of time where Jesus was NOT at the right hand of the Father, and that was while He was on earth. “No man was found” because Jesus had not yet risen from the dead to be found worthy. Finally, the Holy Spirit was still in the throne room because Jesus had not yet ascended to send Him down.

Then, as we read into chapter 5, we see that another search was begun as soon as the other search had ended in failure. But this time someone was found! Someone came up to John and told him to stop weeping, for someone had been found worthy. What had changed? TIME passed. Jesus prevailed over death: He rose from the dead. And was then found worthy to take the book and open the seals. We can see time passing here. Then John turned and saw a Lamb, having been slain. John got to see in vision form, the moment Jesus ascended, after telling Mary not to hold onto Him for He had not yet ascended. Once Mary left Him, He ascended and entered the throne room, and John got to see this in the vision! Then we read that He came with the Holy Spirit, who was immediately sent down to the earth.

This vision of the throne room sets the contest for the seals. When did Jesus ascend? Somewhere around 32 AD. The moment Jesus entered the throne room the first thing He did was get the scroll from the right hand of the Father and begin breaking the seals. No one can find 2000 years between any of these verses, because it is not there. The intent of the Author was to show that the first seals were broken about 32 AD.

This is God's purpose in chapters 4 & 5: God is setting the contest for the first seals.

Did you ever count how many times John used the color white? It was 17 times. And 16 times it was clearly to represent righteousness. It would be silly to think that in the 17th time (the white horse) it would be to show evil. What entity then on earth was righteous in the eyes of God? It can be nothing else but the infant church, sent out with the gospel of our Lord.  OF COURSE there would be overcoming or conquering, for Satan was and still is the god of this world. He would fight to keep the gospel from expanding out from Samaria to the world.  So the first seal was God sending out the church with the gospel.

Seals 2, 3, and 4 are to represent the devil's attempts to stop the advance of the church.

Seal 5 is for the martyrs of the church age.

Seal 6 starts the Day of the Lord and God's wrath, so the rapture MUST come before the 6th seal, but must be after the 5th seal.
