The simple truth is that in His eternal wisdom God always knows who has faith in His Son Jesus for salvation, and has provided for these to be conformed to the image of His Son as a consequence of their faith in Him. This speaks of God's gracious character in providing for His own rather than the enforcing of His Will. If I set out to walk to the end of my street as long as I stay on the street I am predestined to reach the end of it, such is the nature of streets and walking. Before Abraham, But Abraham was the start of establishing a people that would put feet on a piece of land and hold it for God...thus He becomes the God of heaven and earth. Among many other things, the sons of God in the Church age, perform the same function spiritually. When God reigns in our hearts...the Kingdom extends from heaven to earth.
