Nero believed there would be world peace without Christianity, as a consequence of which thousands of Christians were martyred under his rule

Does that mean they are not there? Not for sure, but it does mean for sure that random references to it are not reliably historical unless they can accurately reference the 1st century source for the association. Nero did not believe there would be world peace, except in the abstract imperial sense (if everyone just obeys me, I won't have to kill them). I believe that Nero believed that the nascent christian movement was a direct challenge to his self-declared god-like authority. So he blamed the huge fire of Rome on them, taking the opportunity to accomplish several goals at the same time. I humbly suggest that careful research must be done to any claim made on the WWW. The bible says the heart of [humans] is desparately wicked and deceitful above all things. The WWW proves scripture true in that.

They report that Nero, wanting to avoid blame for the destructive fire in Rome blamed a dispised sect called Christian and they were perscuted as a result. The bible instructs us to test every spiritual message to ensure it conforms to the message we have already recieved. We would do well to be as skeptical of unsupported claims from the internet.
