I want to thank those of you here who helped me through that difficult time. Remembering My Father Remembering my father On this day he went away Although it was nine years ago It seems like yesterday A valiant fight with cancer A malfunctioning heart valve, too He wasn't going to make it And I think inside he knew His attitude was wonderful No bitterness or strife Determined to make each day count In what was left of life His kindness right up till the end Was there for all to see There's no way to articulate How much that meant to me The loving way he handled things To spare his family pain Was brave and touched me deeply His unselfishness was plain He didn't want to leave us But he knew he couldn't stay For when it was his time to go The Lord would have His say My dad was of short stature Yet, a giant of a man I wish this poem could capture it But realize no words can His giving ways through all his days The lives he touched were vast My mind is filled with lovely thoughts Remembering his past Commemorating my dad's life... How he "fought the good fight" And looking forward to the day When we will reunite Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. (1 Timothy 6:12) But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.
