Four men who worked with him were invited to his two-story home to eat dinner. As pastors do, he decided to share the Gospel, but the men were unreceptive, taunting him and teasing him. Would he hold his life in more esteem than those he wanted saved? And so the question was posed by one of the men: "We dare you to allow us to hold you upside down from the second-story window." They laughed. "Then we will see how much you value your God." The pastor prayed for a moment, and signaled yes, realizing that "accidents" happen. After a moment dangling by his heels, they hauled him back up through the window and agreed that he could not have been pretending. Three of the men gave their lives to Christ, and the pastor gave the glory to Jesus as he wiped the sweat from his brow. That pastor stayed with me during the most difficult time of my life and told me he wanted to disciple me. Later, he admitted, "I usually disciple people for one year---but for you---three!"

The pain, suffering and death of family and loved ones. All thing work for good for those that love the Lord. Not some things, part of them; but all things. My beloved grandparents have Proverbs 3: 5-6 inscribed on their tombstone. I have it embossed on several of my Bibles, and on my signature line as you can see. It's a constant reminder for myself, to trust the Lord with all my heart with things I don't understand in this life that can hurt me deeply. God is on the throne and in control.
