I'm speechless. In my opinion, the Church as a whole should have nothing to do with Halloween, meaning it should not be celebrated in Church buildings. I just think that on any given day, when someone visits a church, they should only witness things that are gloryfiying to God.

When I was growing up, Halloween was all  about candy. People would put on a brown shirt and grab a cardboard box and go as the UPS guy just to get free food. I don't have a problem with that. But I don't like scary costumes or celebrating anything dark. I don't judge others for their views though.

Should Christians "Celebrate" Halloween?

No. Absolutely not.

Halloween and Pagan Samhain

Samhain

Samhain is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the "darker half" of the year. Traditionally, it is celebrated from 31 October to 1 November, as the Celtic day began and ended at sunset. This is about halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice. It is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals, along with Imbolc, Bealtaine and Lughnasadh.

Holiday The supposed connection to paganism comes with the fact that the Roman Catholic Church moved the celebration of All Saints’ Day to November 1st in the 8th century.

I'll say it does. Back in our day, tricks for those less than generous or refused to give out were sometimes pretty severe.

I've never seen anything beyond a few rolls of toilet paper....   and none of those had anything to do with me or my friends...

I'm not real fond of this idea. I suppose getting the Hell scared out of you wouldn't be the most horrible thing, if it led to salvation. But would this make the best beginning for a new convert that needs to know first and foremost the love of our Lord and Saviour Jesus?

Same here. We simply went on to the next house with porch lights on. Lights out meant that particular resident either forgot to buy candy, couldn't afford it, or wished not to contribute towards the future of cavities for tots and youngsters.  :D
