It's typically thought of as a reference to Jesus, where the bruising of the heel is interpreted as the crucifixion while the bruising of the head is triumph over Satan.

The Garden is God's Holy Domain. Where humans were supposed to dwell and spread thru the earth.

Humans were banned, and God left them to it for a while. In the end, Mt Zion will be reestablished after a huge fight for the throne. Eden will then again be established.

Yeshua cleansed the Way to the Throne by His blood atonement. He tore the Veil and now we can pass thru to the very Presence of the Most High God. No more blood sacrifices are needed as His blood was once and for all time sufficient.

We now have the Authority to become the sons of God and sit with Him on His Throne and judge disobedient spirits. We will live forever in Eden with the Lord and His holy ones that sinned 'will die like men' (Psalm 82, Deut 32).

It is Jesus Christ who will bruise the head of Satan (at Christ’s return/Second Advent).

Also, Christ has already bruised or crushed the head of Satan by what He did for us on the cross.   Christ conquered sin, death and Satan in dying for us and rising from the dead.

God promises to make enemies of Satan and the woman. Eve's offspring, of course, includes all of humanity, born one generation after another up to the present day. Satan's offspring, are  humans who will come to believe and practice his lies.Jesus, calling out the Jewish religious leaders in John 8:44, said this: "You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

God's final curse on the serpent was that the offspring of the woman will crush, or bruise, Satan's head, and Satan would strike or bruise his heel. This as a reference to Christ, the Son of God, and also the ultimate member of Eve's offspring. Satan would damage Christ, but He would have the ultimate victory on behalf of humanity. Those in Christ will celebrate the victory with Him for eternity.

This is the very first prophecy in the Bible. There's a lot of information packed into this prophetic verse. Almost always in the Bible; "seed' refers to men [genealogies, heirs, and offspring]. Notice "her seed", woman do not have seed, only men. This speaks of the virgin birth, and the Holy Spirit as the Father.

Enmity, n.: 1. The quality of being an enemy; the opposite of friendship; ill will; hatred; unfriendly dispositions; malevolence

Genesis 3:15 (KJV) And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

To paraphrase this verse in my own interpretation: And I [whom is I? God, the Lord Jesus] will put enmity [what is enmity? opposition - malevolence] between thee [whom is thee? Satan] and the woman [whom is the woman? The mother of Jesus Mary] and between thy seed [Satan's seed, another long topic] and her seed [Mary, the Holy Spirit, women have no seed]; it shall bruise thy head [Satan is defeated once and for all, and wounded to eternal punishment], and thou [Jesus' pain and suffering on the Cross and the nails piercing His heels] shalt bruise his heel.

A comparison is found in Numbers 21: 8,9

Numbers 21:8 (KJV) And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. 9.  And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

The two verses above lead into the most famous and beloved Bible verses:

John 3:14 (KJV) And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15.  That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Notice how Jesus addresses his mother in the following verse. It wasn't out of disrespect as it might be taken today. Woman was a title of respect in Jesus' day, and in the case I think it has prophetic implications to {woman] in Genesis 3:15, as it is Jesus' first miracle and he addresses His mother Mary, as Woman, possibly implying Genesis 3:15?

John 2:4 (KJV) Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. [emphasis added]

That's the way I understand it anyway. Hope it helped.

Brother, ...Genesis 3:15 is known as the ''protoevangelium,'' from thr Greek language that means, ...protol - first and evangelium - good news, ...Genesis 3:15 is where God first announces His Gospel message.

Women have eggs, men have seeds, it's a reference to the virgin birth, ...the Holy Spirit being the human father of Jesus, satan is refered to as the serpent in the Word, ...he bruised the heal of Jesus by the  torture inflicted on him by the Roman soldiers, ...but ultimately Jesus crushed his head by rising from the dead, revealing to the heavenly host and to us, His Blood Sacrifice was sufficent to redeemus from the curse, ...the Law of Sin and Death, ...striping him of his power over us.

Lord bless

Except the heel bruising occurs post the head brusing and satan is defeated in Revelations 20:2 (And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,).  So I see this as an end time prophecy related to the Revelation 12 woman (as she represents Eve's descendants).  It makes more sense because it is the only time that satan is defeated in a series of world wide battles here on earth.

I've read variations of interpretations of this one verse because it can mean a man or a woman bruises (or strikes) satan's head.

The pronounon used 'hu or hi' in Hebrew, ie. strongs 1931, means man or woman.  So when you read "he shall bruise your (satan's) head", a few translations say "she shall bruise his head"....in biblehub you can read some of these trnslations*.

The last part is similar.  He is addressing satan in this verse so when the Lord states "You will bruise his heel" it could also translate as (since this verse is about only Eve's sin nature) "You (satan) will bruise her heel (which some translates as her physical body is damaged)".

*Genesis 3:15

Douay-Rheims Bible
I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.
