If you have children, do you toss them to the wind when they are disobedient? No. you may chastise them, but they remain your children. You don't discard them.

btw, why did you only quote one half of the full quote from God's Word above? Sounds like you are being disingenuous. Blessings.

no attempt to be disingenuous... what missing half are you talking of? How can you say that I appear to be disingenuous and still say blessings?  Odd. Anyway, you didn't answer the question if chastisement and punishment is being disobedient.... then disobedient to what? Why the chastisement and punishment?  Your words.

the bottom line remains, when one continues to willfully sin and not genuinely repent, one chooses to go against God not "with" Him and such a person will be among the murderers, adulterers, liars, etcetra .. in the lake of fire .. not by God's choice, but by their own choice .. Jesus paid the debt aka punishment for man's sinfulness but not so man could just call Him Lord and then keep on sinning willfully .. as for uttering an expletive if one hits his thumb with a hammer and then dying before one can repent, God reads that person's heart and knows if that person would have genuinely repented or not, given the time .. many use the parable of the prodigal son but do so erroneously .. any of us who willfully turn away from God our FATHER are choosing to be prodigals .. some of such persons will learn the error of their choices and turn back to our FATHER but many will not turn back but will keep on going their own way and not God's Way .. God their FATHER will always love them as HIS children but He CANNOT and WILL NOT stop them and force them to stay with Him just as the prodigal son's father did not do so to him and said he was lost and was dead .. the prodigal did repent and turned back to his father and his father joyously welcomed him home and feasted, for his son who had been lost and who had been dead was now found and once again alive .. our FATHER God will not stop us from exercising our free will and He will allow us to suffer the consequences of bad choices that we never reconcile aka repent .. He will always love us but will not force anyone to come to Him or stay with Him or return to Him .. there would be no point to that .. those in heaven for eternity will be the sheep aka righteous and those in the lake of fire for eternity will be the goats aka unrighteous and the latter will include Satan and his fallen demon angels and all unbelievers and all believers who chose to turn away from God and go their own willfully sinful ways and never turn back aka repent .. God's Will WILL be done, not Satan's, by those who inherit heaven for eternity .. Satan lost heaven for being so arrogant that he thought he should be equal to God and all willfull sinners who do not repent are just as arrogant and just as desirous but like Satan, they will suffer hellfire .. Satan chose and such sinners will have chosen and they shall all be together .. sin of any magnitude is turning from God and genuine repentance which includes asking forgiveness is turning to God and it cannot be accidental or incidental .. it must be willfull just as is one's sinning .. it is simple: choose to sin and become a prodigal child and then choose to repent and be restored with our FATHER God or choose not to repent and remain prodigal and end up with our father Satan .. our words and actions are ours to choose and ours to take the consequences .. our sinfulness and its consequences when not repented is "our" choice, not God's, to become "lost" and "dead" .. we can go back to God in any sinfulness except the unforgivable blasphemy, or we can walk away and never return and God will allow us to come back IF we do so genuinely or to stay away IF that is our choice .. we have free will and God will never compromise that .. what would be the point of doing so .. the prodigal son chose to leave his father and his father kept loving his "lost" and "dead" son but could not stop him from leaving and could not force him to return .. the prodigal son chose to leave and become lost and dead and he chose to repent aka turn back to his father and be found and alive aka restored again .. some prodigals do not choose to return .. all who willfully sin and go their own way are prodigals and are lost and dead and some repent aka return aka turn back to God and His Will and all will rejoice at such "found" and "restored to life" children .. be a sheep aka righteous in heaven for all eternity or be a goat aka unrighteous in the lake of fire for all eternity .. your choice and my choice and all others' choice .. sin and repent genuinely or sin and don't ever repent .. your choice, my choice, everyone's choice by the gift of free will our FATHER God gave us .. what is not fair God will not allow .. He IS just and His judgement WILL BE JUST as it can be nothing less .. God forgives those who sin but genuinely repent but He does not forgive those who sin but do not genuinely repent .. He continues to love all but His love includes justice for all .. He is merciful and kind and loving and just .. injustice by us or by God is not love and God is ONLY LOVE .. God's Holy Word which is such as it is inspired by the Holy Spirit aka God Himself is all about IF and THEN and good and evil, righteous and unrighteous, believer and nonbeliever, sinner and saint, God and Satan, heaven and hell, sheep and goat, obedience and disobedience, doing God's Will or man's sinful will, repenting or not repenting, etcetra ... it is SO CRYSTAL CLEAR TO ALL who have eyes to see and ears to hear .. go to God and stay with Him or go to God and leave Him by choosing sin which He hates (loves the sinner but hates the sin) and if the latter go back to God via repentance to restoration of life and finding one's way "home" or never go back to Him but go to Satan instead .. our choice, our consequence .. God does not make the choice but allows us to do so with our free will and allows us to take the consequence .. such is not earning heaven by works as heaven is a gift no one can ever "earn" .. it is granted by the grace of God to all who love Him and obey Him and repent aka turn back to Him aka change their will to His Will when they disobey .. God and Satan and no one else can make you or I or anyone else choose to be good or to be evil .. such will be your choice and mine and everyone else's .. we choose to be lost or dead but we can choose to be found and alive again just as the prodigal son did or we can choose to remain lost and dead as do many prodigals and end up in the lake of fire with Satan and his demons and with the unbelievers and with unrepentant believers who chose unrepentant sin instead of God .. once saved always saved begins with faith but does not end there .. one who has faith in God must love God and  IF he/she loves God, THEN must obey His two great commandments as Jesus Himself commanded us to do, and to genuinely ask forgiveness and repent when we fail to do so .. forgiveness will be granted IF repentance is genuine and THEN and ONLY THEN will punishment not occur .. a human father will continue to always love his son/daughter but cannot force his son/daughter to stay with him or to return to him .. he must allow them to choose .. God our FATHER cannot force His child to stay with Him or to return to Him .. He must allow them to choose .. to force us is to compromise and deny our free will and that makes Him a liar for giving us free will and then reneging on such .. God CAN NEVER lie .. NEVER EVER .. choose to go to God or not; choose to stay with Him or not; choose to return to Him if you stray or not .. entirely your choice and your consequence .. God's wish and His Will may or may not be done according to our choices .. but there will be NO UNREPENTANT sinners in heaven, only repentant ones aka only those who are sheep and righteous .. choose and act as it does not just automatically happen .. it is all about choosing according to our free will .. the offer of eternal happiness in heaven IS a gift of grace and grace helps us live as we should in and with God and to repent when and if we fail to do so from time to time and we do fail to do so .. sin is not accidental, incidental, or coincidental .. it is our choice to sin or not to sin .. grace helps us to become and to remain saved but our choices and our repentance for wrong sinful choices determines how we avail ourselves of that gift of grace .. grace "allows" but does not "force" .. God "allows" but does not "force" .. any gift, including the gift of grace, can be used properly unto eternity or used and abused and even discarded unto eternity IF not found and restored to what it should be .. the gift is ours from God to do with as we choose and our choices have good and bad consequences .. we "choose" life or death ..

I do believe in the grace of God, the mercy found at their thrones. However, one cannot take away the need for repentance when someone willfully sins against the Lord.

Jesus' own message was.... Matt. 4:17, "repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."  John the Baptist says this in Matt. 3:2, When Peter spoke on Pentecost and declared Christ as Lord, the people were pricked in their hearts and asked what were they to do. Peter in Acts 2:38 said, Repent and be baptized...

Repentance is part of the gospel message. Repent and be baptized is the start of the path of following the Lord.

Every sin is willfull......some are worse than others

Notice nobody said “ repent of SINS to be saved”. This type of repentance means Turn “ TO” God- NOT turn “ FROM” sinning, although that is a good thing, God knows you ain’t going to quit sinning.....you can’t while you are in this body of flesh

One can’t just claim anything positive or Godly  sounding is the Gospel ......The Gospel That Saves if believed is 1cor15:1-4. Nothing else.Pauls Gospel - Given to Paul personally by Jesus in the Arabian Desert.THAT is the Gospel people will be judged by.Repentance is mandatory ......it is built in to this Gospel . Repent means to change your mind about something.....one needs to change there mind from NOT trusting the Gospel alone to TRUSTING the Gospel alone—- THIS is where Salvation begins— believing Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead. That simple.Rest in this Gospel and you are saved...

I don't believe every sin is willful. There are sins of rebellion but also believe there are sins of ignorance. What is the gospel if not repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins. That begins the walk of obedience unto the Lord. That is when we do accept the Lord Jesus as our Savior, Messiah, Lord and Master. To turn to God means I will become more like him and attempt to emulate my Lord. Which means I will turn from sinning. If and when I sin, I immediately repent and continue to attempt to attain a sinless life. I fail and I sin, but I then repent and seek lasting change. To me, to follow the Lord means to walk his path, his example, to follow him and his teachings. If the Lord says, sin no more. then I must believe that it is possible to walk a path of righteousness without sin, thus I forget that which is behind me and run the race set before me.

“If we are unfaithful, He REMAINS faithful......he can not deny himself”

“God’s Promises are Without Repentance”

“ I will Save to the UTTERMOST ......ALL that will come to me through my Son”

God will not be unfaithful when His Word is at stake......it’s  more important than  one-person’s   Salvation.....many people will be saved like some “ escaping a burning house”.  Barely. And with no rewards .

yes, the simple version is: believe, love, obey, repent or not when you disobey .. if you repent, you will be forgiven and your sins forgotten and you will not be punished as Christ paid that debt .. if you choose to sin and not repent, you choose death due to sin and eternity in the lake of fire .. human sickness and disease is usually treatable and curable with meds but if one does not take the meds, one dies .. sin is treatable and curable with repentance  but if one does not repent, one dies as sin leads to death ..

The only cure for sin is Love.Love is  the Engine that drives Obedience.Understanding Grace and living it out in your life, resting in what Jesus accomplished at the Cross, knowing that ALL of your sins are forgiven and forgotten —- THAT is the ONLY way you will ever Love God.Obedience will naturally follow. The following  statement is just about the epitome of Wisdom......it infuriates Legalists and those That adhere to the Gospel Of “ Lucky Repentance”.....The Statement is “ Love God and live as you please”....... If one does  not understand that , they do not understand God .......if you are thinking  that would lead to a life of sin , you need to “ repent” from your backwards thinking.....” Loving God” is the true cure for sin......That's why God made it the #1 Commandment.....If we loved God like we should, the 613 commandments would never have been proclaimed ..... they would flow out of us naturally.....

All the things you list are good things.....if you mean we have to do all of these things to be saved or stay saved, you are very wrong.......Salvation is very simple . Say from a  Contrite Heart ( made Contrite by the conviction of the Holy Spirit - Nobody comes lest the Spirit draw him , remember ) just say , “Jesus, save me” and you are saved and kept saved by the One who promised to “ save to the uttermost ,all that  come to  The Father by His Son” All the other stuff you mentioned is “ icing on the cake”which is part of God “ transforming us into the image of His Son”.  We can’t do these things at all. They are done by the Holy Spirit .The Spirit you received on  the day you were saved.Don't  confuse Sanctification with Salvation.....it will lead to confusion......God Bless....

Can I ask a question?

If someone is born again, but then deliberately sins, a pre meditated sin knowing it is wrong but doing it anyway, will they be forgiven?

I mean, if they are in a state of rebellion and don't repent?

I suppose eventually they will repent, their conscience will give no peace until they do, but before that?

I am confused about this, as to deliberately sin means they recognise they are sinning.

Yes Maryjane...a son of God can deliberately sin for any number of reasons. Strong emotion in a moment is one. We can also harden our heart for a time to the conviction of the spirit and turn and walk in the other direction for a time. However, the Lord does not give up on us and will wait patiently and take part in 'turning' us around once again. That turning around is exactly what repentance is. At that point, we 'confess' and He forgives.

I believe the blood is efficacious in any case toward God (from His perspective), but from our point of view, confession is needful. Because until then, we can't know peace. This too, is Grace and Mercy.

In the Book of Hebrews, the author speaks about only one sin that can get you in trouble---in fact in ten of those chapters, he mentions only one: the sin of unbelief. A person cannot remove his own sins; only the Spirit of God can do that. We think, sadly, that if we could but take out a "section of sin" in our lives, we could get closer to God. But no one ever tells us that 35 more wheelbarrows of sin are dumped into our lap the next morning. Jesus said, "Apart from me you can do nothing." We are by nature sinners. Paul called himself the "Chief sinner." He knew himself better than anyone, but he cut the regard he had for all of them and remained steadfast in his pursuit of the prize that awaited him at the end of his journey. If we become scolds---if we always scold ourselves when we sin, then in effect, we are thinking more about ourselves and our own unworthiness than about Christ and his worthiness. When I "do" a sin, I repent---meaning, I turn to Christ and let him continue leading me. I no longer dwell on it; his blood covered it at the Cross. :)
