DON'T BE GULLIBLE

Pr 14:15 A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps.

"Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true." Acts 17:11

2Co 11:3  But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

1John 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Don't be gullible to believe anything you hear. But then again don't be gullible to disbelieve anything you hear either. That is, don't gullibly accept anything that critics say. You should be just as skeptical about criticisms of propositions of alleged facts or ideas as you are about such propositions themselves.

The gullible person is naive. They will believe anything and that includes false doctrine and false teachers.

The Lord's Approved Workman
14Remind the believers of these things, charging them before God to avoid quarreling over words, which succeeds only in leading its listeners to ruin. 15Make every effort to present yourself approved to God, an unashamed workman who accurately handles the word of truth. 16But avoid irreverent, empty chatter, which will only lead to more ungodliness,…2 Tim 2:14-16

In today's society, with everything from schemes of individuals to even so called prosperity gospel,I believe that ever believer must apply this everyday.

We must test the spirits to see if their from God. God requires us to be good stewards. Being a gullible person isn't being a good steward. For one that is gullible is taken by everything they hear and even see.

Luke 16:10 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. "

I believe we can apply this verse to this subject. Being faithful with what ever God has given you: discerment, wisdom, understanding, as well as any thing material, financial etc. As God increases these things you can become faithful in much. But if one is taken in (gullible) by what one says or others asks for this isn't being faithful with little. We must pray about everything and test every spirit, this I believe is being faithful. We must remember the later of this verse as well. (and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.) Those who abuse the gullible person or take them for a ride will continue to do so and become greater with each person they trick, scheme, swindle or take advantage of... I think this is a good warning to us all.

God bless ?

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth"

'Awanas' motto, a worldwide children and youth discipleship program.

Ashamed

Train them up as a child, to not be gullible, but recognize truth.
