Does anyone have an recommendations for a (preferably online) bible commentary that is easy to understand.

I often find them of little help simply because of how they are written.

Any recommendations?

I've never used Bible commentaries. My fear might be that I would let someone else do my thinking for me.

I recommend you find 3 or 4 commentaries that you find easy to read  and compare them BUT BEFORE YOU GO TO THE COMMENTARY  spend time meditating and praying for understanding through the Holy Spirit about what you are reading.

Jas 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you

Also, what ever you are reading make sure you read it in it's context. You will often get the meaning once you have it in context.

Although it's older I enjoy William MacDonalds

The Holy Spirit interpreted,

Bible authenticated,

Bible reading, study and devotions.

The word of God is its own best commentary.

I have several and find them helpful in matters of history and context to some extent and in the most general things, but nearly useless in terms of spiritual matters and the doctrine associated with those matters.

Just my opinion of course.
