Just now, Bandit said:

Souls do, spirit is what makes the souls alive, when a life dies, say a bird...where dies its life go? It goes back to The One who gave it, just as The rivers pour into the ocean and ocean returns back to the rivers on the other side.  And when we die, Our spirit, our breath of Life will return back to the One who gave it, while WE our souls will be carried to sheol, and separated Good from evil.

And the mention of souls is where in these passages?

Clearly, the body returns to dust and does not go to Sheol.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 (AV)
7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Genesis 2:7 (AV)
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

And the raising / redemption is of our body:

Romans 8:23 (AV)
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

So, your belief, Bandit, appears to be the one that goes against scripture.

The combination of both body and spirit

That's where.

When the spirit is absent from the body...

The soul does not even exist.

Okay, Elohim formed MAN out of Dust, what is man? Thankfully Genesis tells us what man is... BREATH OF LIFE(spirit) into the nostrils, making MAN, a what? A LIVING soul. So what is man? A living soul. And who must die?  Man, the soul must die.

The body is seperate in Genesis from creation of man and its called the form.

Just what I said.

The body scripture CLEARLY states returns to dust in death.

The spirit returns to God.

How?

Where?

In Sheol (for unbelievers) or heaven (for believers).

Jesus said to the believing thief on the cross beside his:

Luke 23:43 (AV)
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, TO DAY shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Both in heaven (paradise mentioned only 3 times in scripture all refer to the abode of God) that

same day before the sun set.

This is why the Creation in Genesis is seperated from the forming process. (The body) was not even apart of the 6 day creation, how do we Know this? Because he CREATED the bird on the 5th day and Man on the 6th..yet FORMED man before the bird.

Nope.

Either that or Adam is not our prototype / progenitor.

No you explained what YOU believe. Not what the scripture says:

We are all three:

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (AV)
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
