Jesus said, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." (Matt 4:17). I think he is telling us that if we repent, the kingdom of heaven is ours - at this very moment.

In context he said it was at hand.you can't take things out of context and think what you think it means.

Perhaps there are two kinds of people in the world. The first would be those who are trying to obey the Lord's commandments. Hopefully everybody here is in this category.

And the other group is those who develop the skill of “sucking up” to the “right people.” These are the troublemakers.

For those of you who would argue that we don’t have to obey the Lord’s commandments, remember what Jesus said: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” John 14:15 RSV

This proposition is a false dilemma fallacy. One two options are presented, any no other possibilities have been explored. I can think of at least two more options (unaware of Christianity, Hindu), totaling at least four options.

Two groups of people. Those who are born again believers and those who are not.

The only way to find out is to repent.

I can think of only one more option - you neither obey the Lord's commandments, nor do you suck up to the "right" people.
