Hello guys my name is Francois and I have a serious problem of being tempted many times of watching pornography please help me every day I pray telling God that I will never do it again but temptation still continues and I'm feeling depressed and guilty and ashamed for that bad habit

Please help me pray for me and tell me how many times God can forgive you the same sin ?????????

Hi Francois. First of all welcome to worthy! I hope you can find encouragement and brothers/sisters in christ here just like I have =).

Second of all I hope this post helps as I haven't written a post like this in many years. Hopefully the bible verses help too and hopefully it all makes sense as I will try my best to help :).

Struggling with pornography can open up so many temptations. Falling into temptation doesn't mean that you cannot be forgiven. As temptation is a battle, we can overcome these with the strength given from christ ( Phillipians 4:13 - I can do all things through christ who strengthens me).

God understands that you are trying your best. The good thing about this is that, as someone has already mentioned in a previous post, that the holyspirit has convicted your heart and that God is definitely working on you!

I believe this will lead you to repentance which is Gods will for us as he wants us to turn away from sin and turn towards HIM.

( 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land).

As we begin to slowly turn away from sin one by one and seek him he will begin to heal us.
Acts 3:19 - Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,

God will forgive you EVERY time you ask for forgiveness. Thats the reason why Christ died for us as a sacrifice for our sins that we may be forgiven and also have a relationship with the lord.

The bible also says in Matthew 5:29, 30 - If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

This doesn't mean to literally cut off your hands.
This means to cut off ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that makes you sin or lead you to sin.

For example, are the tv shows or movies you watch influencing your desire of lust/watching pornography? You might want to be careful what you're actually watching or avoid these kinds of shows/movies. If you're watching tv and certain scene comes on, change the channel!

What about the music you are listening to? Do they have sexual lyrics? You might want to avoid these songs and listen to more Godly songs. There are many out there :).

Maybe there are places that you go where women dont dress modestly or half dressed and it makes you fall into temptation. Try to avoid these places or turn around and walk away!

If you read books maybe....(you know it by now) .. Avoid books that talk about lustful things.

These are just a few things in mind that you can do on your part to help the desire die down.

However, do keep praying and ask God to reveal things to you that needs to change to help your desire for pornography die down. Reading his word is also good!

Remember he will always love you and be with you!! (Deuteronomy 31:8 - The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.")

God knows you are genuinely trying to let go of this sin. You can overcome it! And remember be encouraged! You can do all things through christ who strengthens you (Phillipians 4:13) to overcome this temptation!

Don't give up. Don't beat yourself up. Simply repent from the heart and God will forgive you every time you ask for forgiveness. He will always give you a million second chances.

James 4:7 - Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
I hope this helps.

God bless you =)

This was so beautiful to read. Struggling Christians coming along side each other. I sense that when there is this kind of love and honesty, God is starting to trust us more and more. I remember an occasion when a man visited a whole room filled with prostitutes who were drinking and living it up on the wild side. One there shared that it was her birthday. She left. But the man who visited began a conversation with the others in the smoked-filled room and said to them, "Let's all surprise her with a birthday cake," and they decided what a beautiful idea. A few days later, after they found out when she would return, they surprised her. She broke down in tears because she said that no one, even as a little girl, ever brought her a birthday cake. And the man, who was a Pastor, began to talk about Jesus and how he became nothing, and how he gave his life for all men. He explained how Jesus was knocking, right then, on the door of their hearts and would come in to anyone who invited him. The whole place was filled with alcohol, smoke, and tears, and many that night believed. The Pastor found many of them at his church that Sunday because God had trusted His Church to accept the down-trodden, the "worthless," and the outcasts. Jesus is not looking for great men. He seeks humility.

Sister, your response is what Christ is all about. This is why we are here. Thank you for opening my eyes a little more today. :)

You must repent.  You must choose to repent.  Repenting means not doing it again.  You must stop.

And you can stop.  You are a man, and you can make choices.  Stop it.  That's what you need to do.  That is my advice.

Franco, I recently joined this place for help and support because I also struggle with the same addiction. God is always willing to forgive and he always is waiting for us to come to him, it is only ourselves that can turn away from God, he will never abandon us in these hard times. There are days where I have no problems and I find it's hardest for me when I have free time to myself, I find trying to keep myself busy prevents me from thinking those bad thoughts and keeps me from being able to watch porn. You will get through this Franco, submit yourself to the Lord and as for forgiveness and strength, he will guide you to every blessing he has in store for you.

There is no limit to how many times God will forgive you, but we must keep a repentant spirit.
