Hi, Not sure I ever thought everyone was. Being broke is not much fun. Sitting in the same financial hole and lamenting that; Hey I am in a hole, just isn't going to do a thing to change being in that hole. Would love to be able to help many get out of their financial dire straits. I do pray about just that, and have an interest in the issue at surprisingly an area in NC. But- many with far better knowledge than I have are finding little way to make much of an impact there so far. There are help wanted signs out at most places of business; some even close days for lack of help to keep their stores open. They need to be able to pay more for help, but then their products get priced out of reach of customers to purchase their goods and services. In the meantime the local home rents go way above what the poor can afford because Casinos came to do business nearby and resident owners have turned their rentals into short term rentals or have been able to find new more affluent tenants. And of course they have raised the rents after years and years of stagnant rental income and having taken loses by owning the properties. Many local residents and business leaders are working on the problems, but are puzzled and not really finding answers so far. Do you have answers? I did not mean to make it sound like you thought that. I was just commenting from what I read. Sorry. Hi, None the less the problem is very real. I don't mean to dimmish the difficulties of many. I have been there more than once. Didn't like it the first time nor the second nor the third time. I do have to accept that even in those times God's provision for me was the perfect provision for my real need, my progress in sanctification. Yet, it is to me insufficient for me to say get out of that financial hole without at less searching to see if I am to be part of how one gets out. Am I to build low cost structures for living space as example? Am I to work as a volunteer with local government and local churches and charities? Am I just to share a few lines on a Message board? The last one seeming not much of a help at all. It being sport for some individuals, as though pointing out things accomplishes much. It doesn't, not without some real action, a follow through by ones self. I really do find encouragement in others though. Perhaps one being found in the motivational book by Olympic Skater Scott Hamilton titled "FINISH FIRST WINNING CHANGES EVERYTHING".

I lived in the woods, isolated from others before. Was... relaxing. But stuck in an apartment I can not afford to leave and no homes around I can afford. I also can not leave the state (family obligations). And thinking about how people are dealing with low wage jobs (because I had to deal with them and lose a home because of a layoff) and with prices always going up, how can the government and businesses think this is good enough for the American people dream. Have you tried praying. The American Government is not our giver of our dreams. Jesus said in my Fathers house their are many mansions if it were not so I would have told you. I shall return for you so that where I am you may be also. In the world many may be cut off from earthy dreams. Heaven is our true home When Christ is in our heart we are His not the American dream. The day is coming when the American dream will be just a pile of ashes. Heave is eternal. Edited January 6, 2020 by Mike Mclees

What ever happened to the American dream? Personally, I would like to own a home with plenty of space and land in a quiet area, but I can never afford to and there is no quiet places around where you can see the stars at night without city light affecting the view. So that not going to happen. Especially if my next job is at McDonald's (again) because no one else is hiring in the tech field. Your thoughts on how the government sees paying Americans low wages? Hi The Survivor, So you are getting a good look at man`s system in this world, totally unfair and unrighteous. Now why do we as believers think that we can have a `dream` whatever on this earth. We are Pilgrims passing through. Don`t get hooked into expecting anything from the system, our trust is in the Lord. Be thankful that you may not have much in earthly terms for it releases you from trust in the system and helps us to look to the Lord daily for provision, health and safety. regards, Marilyn. 2 1

Paul tells the Ephesians of their wonderful inheritance in Christ - `adopted, accepted, redeemed, forgiven, given wisdom, have an inheritance, the seal of the Holy Spirit, life, grace, citizenship - in short every spiritual blessing.` (Eph. 1 - 3) What would we give in exchange for those?
