Hmm... Well bro, Paul did have his own personal opinion in this verse.

1 Corinthians 11:14 KJV 14Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

I used to have long hair. Short hair is easier to take care of.

I'm perfectly aware of that, John. My hair lengths have been both cropped extremely short, and down to the waist at one time. Including everything else in between. Of course short hair is easier to take care of. That's not the issue of the scripture, nor the point being made. I was simply giving one example of the Apostle Paul's personal opinion, since this seems to be the turn of the topic.

I don't know about such being Paul's personal opinion or not .. the only passage I recall where Paul gave a personal opinion was the one about advising the apostles and disciples to remain unmarried due to all involved in doing the Lord's Will but that if any had a need to be married, to do so .. Paul did make it clear in this what he would recommend but what could be for those who did not wish to follow his recommendation for whatever reason ..

The Apostle Paul did also say this.

1 Corinthians 7:6-9 6But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. 7For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. 8I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I. 9But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

I don't believe God told Paul to tell us women can't speak in church.

If you don't want to believe scripture, that is your choice, but as with false teachings, if any piece is false, then the whole is false.  You cannot cherry pick what you like and toss what you don't like and still believe the Bible to be the true word of God.  That is being double minded.

If it's okay for women to speak in church today, then it was okay for women to speak in church during Paul's day.

No, I believe in justice. I see no justice in telling a woman she can't speak in church and then telling a man that he can.

Have you not read that "the wisdom of man is foolishness to God"?  You are not required to understand God's will, but only to respect it and obey His instructions, as expressed through the apostles.

Well, God never said women can't speak in church. It was Paul who said it.
