Hebrews 2:1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

2:2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

The salvation of the Hebrews was spoken by the Lord Jesus and confirmed by the twelve apostles during Jesus's earthly ministry (John 1:11 John 15:27).

The salvation spoken of was the prophetic earthly Davidic kingdom promised to a believing Israel (Isaiah 2:1-5 Matthew 4:17 Hebrews 1:2 Mark 1:14 Luke 12:32) who endured to the end (Matthew 24:13).

2:4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

God also bore witness to his word of salvation by the miracles performed by the twelve (Mark 16:20).

2:5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.

Hebrews speaks of the world to come in which the believing remnant of Israel will receive eternal life (Mark 10:30) and the city of God (Hebrews 13:14 Revelation 21:2) ; the remnant will reign as kings and priests on earth (Revelation 5:10).

2:16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

Jesus was made a son of Abraham, a Hebrew, an Israelite (Matthew 1:1 Romans 11:1) according to the flesh.

Now to Abraham and his seed, Christ, were the promises made (Galatians 3:16). Abraham was promised to be heir of the world through faith (Romans 4:13).

The church, the body of Christ, has also been made heirs with Christ (Galatians 3:29 Titus 3:7).

2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

Only Israel could have a high priest (Leviticus 21:10 Exodus 19:3-6), Israel could be reconciled by the atonement made by the priests (2 Chronicles 29:22). Jesus made reconciliation for the transgressions of Israel under the first testament by his death (Hebrews 9:15).
