If we count up the heads in Daniel 7:
1:  The Beast with the lion head - - - -   - - - - - - - -  - 1 head

2. The Beast that looked like a Bear - - - - - - - - - - - - 1 head

3. The Beast that looked like a leopard with 4 wings - - - 4 heads

4. The  terrible beast - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1 head.

These add up to 7 heads.

Probably to represent Babylon, and Nebuchadnezzar, Medo-Persia and Darius (?), Greece and the 4 Generals that took over after Alexander died and Rome (At the time of Christ?).

For Revelation many have thought:

1. Egypt

2. Assyria

3. Babylon

4. medo-Persia

5. Greece

6. Rome

7. The Beast of Rev. 13

Your thoughts?

The seven heads belong to Satan.  He is pictured as the dragon with seven crowned heads.  The crowned heads represent his throne, kingdoms that have been used to subjugate the children of Israel in hopes of killing the prophesied man child.  It is through these heads that he expresses his authority on earth.

The beast has ten crowned horns.  Satan gives the 10-horned beast his power, throne, and great authority.  The beast's seven heads are something visual that reflects that transaction.  The seven heads don't belong to the beast, they're Satan's.  That's why the beast in Daniel 7 is only pictured with the 10 horns and not the seven heads.  In the context of Rev 13, the beast has 7 heads to indicate that he's been given Satan's throne and authority.  Otherwise, he just has 10 horns.

Since the seven heads are Satan's, I see the Egypt, Assyria . . . list as being more likely.

I agree, the heads are to represent Satan's attempts through the centuries - using one empire after another -  to subjugate Israel and prevent God's prophecies from coming true. But then, each head would represent one instance of what Satan was doing. For example, there can be no doubt Satan was behind Nebuchadnezzar when He forced people to bow to his image on the threat of death - and when he carried away people captive back to Babylon. So without a doubt, Babylon - modern day Iraq - would be one of the heads.  Old Neb' then, would be one of the 7 kings in Rev. 17. (Seven mountains and seven kings.)

What to do then, with the seven heads of Daniel 7?

Hi iamlamad,

`Heads` in scripture means leaders. And I believe you are too focused on the past and thus do not see what is right here in front of us. eg, Egypt & Assyria were never world rulers like the others so not in the same category. The other 5 are world leaders and God has dealt with 4 of them.

And we are seeing the formation of the final Gentile Global Government. This is already in place and has a rotation of 5 rulers. When that rotation is finished, (5 have fallen, have gone) then there are 2 to go, one is, (6th) and then the 7th, the A/C. (Rev. 17: 10)

The `beastly` final Global Government of Rev. 13 is made up of contemporary Gentile Federations described by Daniel in ch. 7. They are contemporary as the first three go into the millennium after the last beastly Federation is dealt with by God. (Dan. 7: 11 & 12)

Too many people have been led astray by teachers telling them it is about the past. Doesn`t take long to actually think who the main Federations are and their emblems recognisable by everyone - lion, eagle, bear etc, and that they control the G7 & G20.

  Marilyn.

Because of these 2 verses:

11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

These are END TIME kings and nations.

Possibly.  They come up out of the sea, which is a reference to the abyss (Revelation 13:1, 17:8).  I see these four beasts as the evil spirit "princes" behind the four kingdoms of Daniel 2.  I expect that they'll be active again in the end times since the forces of evil are "all in."  I could probably make a stronger case that they are part of the 10 horns that come up out of the abyss with the beast and are subservient to him.  But it would just be speculation.

Hi Iamlamad

God is describing  FOUR BEASTS HERE not 7.

Daniel 7:3   And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

No. 3 has ONE head.

Out of ....one of his heads....later....future....will come up the 4th beast, the end time beast, that is described.

When Alexander died, his 4 generals went east, west, north, and south.  Each went to one of the four quarters of the earth and ruled over their domain, not in the power of Greece, but in their own power.

God is making it simple.

Which kingdom will rise up and become the fourth beast?  Is it the kingdom of the east, west, north or south that came out of one of those generals?

What does God say?

Jeremiah 51:48   Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD.

Joel 2:20   But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things.

The king of the north will end up being the fourth beast.  The fourth beast of THIS VISION.
