I recently joined my first church since becoming a Christian.

Other than signing up to serve in a certain ministry group (eg. Nursery, sound/tech, admin, etc)- what are some little or general ways I can be a better servant to the church?

So far I've brainstormed these ideas:

-first there, last to leave

-pick up rubbish, clean generally

-offer ppl coffee or tea after service, make and serve it to them

-wash dishes after morning tea

-always be adding to prayer list the needs of people at church

-talk to whoever is sitting alone

-volunteer to help at events

-ask elderly if they need any help with anything I can physically help with, make a list and fulfil those tasks, or delegate

-get email addresses and send Bible studies or words of encouragement

-rally up kids to play a game to give parents a break & to bond with kids

-remember names and things about church member's lives

-give compliments and words of affirmation to people, smile & say hi by name to everyone

-"amen" the pastor

Please leave any suggestions at all? Thanks!

Every church needs prayer warriors. This is the best way to serve the church. If your church does not do so, ask to be allowed to come in early before the service and pray for the church, and see if others want to join you, if time permits. Just make it informal and free to anyone who is willing to participate. Do not have a plan, let the Holy Ghost lead you as you pray freely. Even if you are the only one willing, set the example, others will join you.

That's the immediate thought that also came to my mind. Doesn't even have to be formally announced just pray for the pastors the elders as they prepare each week and as they may be teaching is a start.

Good notions you have. You could also ask and see if there are any specific needs that need to be met.
