Many Christians are exhorted today to be involved in political actions or otherwise seeking to influence the civil authorities. But what tends to be downplayed is the significance of prayer. God is in charge of civil authority. "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." Rom 13:1 And furthermore, "The king‘s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases." Pr 21:1 Christians should not think that the solution to all political problems is necessarily a matter of their own political actions.
