You see brother, I came from the Jesus People Movement of the late 1960s. And we both fellowshipped and worshiped with ALL who had Christ as Saviour, and also dearly loved Jesus.

I spend a lot of time evangelizing in the door to door fashion and one thing I appreciate about Catholics is that they are raised to respect the Bible and to believe deeply in Jesus and God.  Catholics, I have found, are not very knowledgeable about the Bible, as say are born again Christians, as the Catholic theology does not place much importance on the individual's personal responsibility to be accountable for one's behavior and salvation with the Lord, as those "matters" are placed in the hands of the Catholic Church.  In short, the Catholic Church has "plowed the ground" and has prepared the "soil" for the evangelizing work that follows and that will plant seeds of Truth upon that "soil."

I was raised a Catholic and so I consider myself a Catholic, although I dislike the current Pope and I am deeply bothered by the many scandals that have rocked the church.  I'm also not necessarily in lockstep with all church teachings.  Of course, is anyone in 100% agreement with the faith to which they belong?  Anyway, I was wondering if there are other Catholics here.  Thanks.

Well it is a teaching of the catholic church that people in it MUST accept all the official teachings of the Church,, all their traditions..  I see a lot of catholics who say they disagree with roman catholic church teachings but still believe they are catholics, when the catholic church makes it clear all catholic must submit themselves to ALL the official teachings of the catholic church..

I am an ex-catholic.. I was a catholic up until my early 20's.. That's when i first read the Bible :) and became a Bible believing Christian. :emot-dance:

Well, I might have been a hippie at one time. Now I'm saved, sanctified, justified before the Lord, and greatly looking forward to my new home in Heaven. Maybe you and I will have next door accommodations there. Your dogs and my cats will get along famously! lol
