The Coronavirus is not deadly. Many have survived. One of the complications is pneumonia. The people with less chance of surviving are those who go into it not healthy. Children are more at risk. The problem is that at this time there is no vaccinations for it. There are no medications for it as well.

so far there has been 59 people that has recovered and 80 something deaths.....   I don't think I would not call it deadly....

I posted an article in the other thread saying that the city leaders let over 5 million people leave the area after knowing that the virus was out and being transmitted from human to human...   Explained why and offered to resign if it would make it possible for the public to forgive them...   if this thing gets totally out of hand the way it looks is possible..   how could one live with that?

American businessman and philanthropist Bill Gates makes a speech at the Malaria Summit at 8 Northumberland Avenue on April 18, 2018 in London, England. The Malaria Summit is being held today to urge Commonwealth leaders to commit to halve cases of malaria across the Commonwealth within the next five years with a target to 650,000 lives.

The next deadly disease that will cause a global pandemic is coming, Bill Gates said on Friday at a discussion of epidemics.

We're not ready.

An illness like the pandemic 1918 influenza could kill 30 million people within six months, Gates said, adding that the next disease might not even be a flu, but something we've never seen.

The world should prepare as it does for war, Gates said.

If there's one thing that we know from history, it's that a deadly new disease will arise and spread around the globe.

That could happen easily within the next decade. And as Bill Gates told listeners on Friday at a discussion about epidemics hosted by the Massachusetts Medical Society and the New England Journal of Medicine, we're not ready.

Gates acknowledged that he's usually the optimist in the room, reminding people that we're lifting children out of poverty around the globe and getting better at eliminating diseases like polio and malaria.

But "there's one area though where the world isn't making much progress," Gates said, "and that's pandemic preparedness."

The likelihood that such a disease will appear continues to rise. New pathogens emerge all the time as the world population increases and humanity encroaches on wild environments. It's becoming easier and easier for individual people or small groups to create weaponized diseases that could spread like wildfire around the globe.

According to Gates, a small non-state actor could build an even deadlier form of smallpox in a lab.

There are at least 4 types of pneumonia. Vaccines don't work for all of them.

This could be a mutated pneumonia strain.

It could be but do you know that for sure?

Not like the Ebola or Marburg virus. You get that you are dead.

i'm not familiar with marbrg, but Ebola was so high largely because of no proper treatment in the places it was prevalent....    my understanding was that it was about 50% where proper treatment was available.

Wuhan hasn't been goin on long enough for us to get a good view of it's life cycle but as it stands now there is more people dying than there is cured from it.   problem is that there is a very large number with it and we really don't know if they will be ok in the end or will die.

Scientist at the john Hopkins center. Did a study three months before this virus from China. It was on the coronavirus and they came to the data that 65 million could end up dead from a outbreak.  You can Google it.

I knew there were some reported cases of it, but had no idea it was that deadly.
