The Lord uses child birth to describe very difficult times ahead for believers. Having been through the actual experience of child birth, (more than once) I can add this: It starts out fairly mild; pain grows in intensity; it subsides and repeats the cycle; each time a cycle is repeated the pain increases in intensity and there are shorter and shorter periods of rest in between. I think we are at a place where the "contractions" are growing in intensity and that pains are lasting longer, while the periods of calm are fewer in number and shorter in duration, just as real labor. When the "birthing" begins (figuratively, of course) the pain is so intense that it's mind-numbing. You just feel a sense of being overwhelmed and pray that it end quickly. I believe that might describe what believers will experience in this world as Satan continues to wage war against the saints of God around the world. Very interesting. That could be a possibility. However, that is not our main concern at this point. But it is to help people to come to Christ, and to love the Lord. About the birth pains.....my husband and I have times that we call 'energy storms'. We can feel them coming on, when the energy level just starts cranking up, the phone will just be ringing off the hook after having been quiet for days, people suddenly start showing up at the door, events and activities get overwhelming, we feel like the faster we run the behinder we get. During these times, accidents happen, kids start throwing fits and acting out, it's hard to sleep.... They last for several days, then subside and it's quiet again for a good long while. Sometimes a whole group of our friends experience this at the same time, but it's not like the news gets really wild during them, so it doesn't seem to be on a global level or anything.
