Why do people fall in what falls apart, instead of growing in love??

It seems people fall in what falls apart, instead of growing. Why?

How does God's word say to love? This can help us understand why people fail in their ways of loving.

"And I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved." (2 Corinthians 12:15)

So, from this I see how our Apostle Paul could love the Corinthians more and more but ones of them would love him less.

Why? Because they were loving only those they hoped to use for what they wanted, possibly. And that method could fall apart.

Because in selfish loving we are not in the strength of God's love; and so in our deep weakness we can break down into arguing and frustration and unforgiveness and bitterness.

Gal 5:16  This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17  For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Yes, I am finding, lust can keep me from how I can be in God's love. And then I am weak and degraded so I do not do well with people, plus I am not in the goodness and rest of Jesus in God's love.

"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:31-32)

To me, it seems ones can get angry and struggle in their bitterness and unforgiveness and other emotional torment. They can fight for getting their own way, and hope this will solve their anger and unforgiveness problems. 

But God's word does not say to negotiate for what we want in order to solve an anger or fear problem. But we need for evil things to "be put away" from us. Just get rid of it, do not try to struggle with it or control it or negotiate to satisfy it, but get rid of it. 

And God is the One who is almighty to put away any sort of anti-love feelings and emotions and ideas and thinking. And God in us is able to change us into how He has us being "tenderhearted" and "forgiving" >

forgiving "even as God".

The Christian life is essentially a transition form the selfishness of the flesh to the selflessness of love.

EXACTLY!!!  

Selfishness is the answer to this OP's question. When we are so selfish that we put our wants, desires, needs above Jesus, then, that bleeds over into our relationships with others . . . . very simple when it is boiled down to the root cause.
