I often wonder the same thing but I figure that God knows everything so what I say and how I say it counts the same. I pray alot silently when there are people around me because it is very personal.

God does not care if you come to Him silently or spoken, so long as you come to Him...:emot-heartbeat:

Oh praise God silent prayer is effective. There are many conversations it is best not to enter without the LORD present. I have seen the LORD calm down a few potential heated arguments when the call from the heart brought Him into it. Praise His Holy Name. ~life in Christ I'm for~

The Lord knows our hearts. He knows our needs before we pray. Why wouldnt He hear silent prayers as much as spoken prayers? I tend to pray silently anyway. I know He hears my prayers.

I agree that with God it doesn't matter. Silent or spoken.

However, with Satan, it's a different story. He can't read our thoughts but can hear our words. For that reason alone, I love to pray outloud.

Don't be like the publicans who stand in the middle of the city, praying loudly for all to hear.

I have prayed silently and had my prayer answered immediatly. Thank you Jesus! So spoken or silent he hears our words, and knows our thoughts.

I think sometimes, in prayer, that we put the emphasis in the wrong place...it is God who is effective, not the method of prayer. The important thing in prayer is not our needs but the One who hears them.
