this one is for man... i'm running short on time so if you don't feel inclined to look it up, i'm sure someone will for you. the God of the OT is the same as the God of the NT. He's the same yesterday, today, and forever. Jesus and God are both of the trinity and are always in 100% agreement. and yes, in the NT, Jesus instructed his apostles to arm themselves with a sword for protection.

not all killing is murder. God sanctions killing under certain circumstances, but never sanctions murder. (not necessarily shooting illegals on sight, though!)

If you believe it is the duty of the nation to protect itself, and you feel that illegals are an invasion the conclusion is logically that it is one legitimate response. Trust me, if they werent who they are but they were Russians or Middle Easterners the thought would be more appealing to more people because they could readily see the threat. I do believe that legals are not normally a threat. Illegals however are criminals by the very fact that they are invading without being asked.

My analogy was that the country was the home...and then someone came into your house illegally and you shot them there would be nothing wrong. Why do we feel so horrible about it when you think of your country being invaded?

facial recognition technology is legal in america, and has been used for many years in casinos. (just a little FYI)

Not only that but for some odd reason the security cameras cause polyester (especially black) and all red fabrics to become see through on the monitors. (Another FYI)

:whistling:

I wold like to see some documentation for this, please.

Well, having worked in the casino bank/gaming pits/casino floor, I have been privy to some casino security first hand... Many times having to work hand in hand with the 'eye in the sky' to help ID known cheats; keep track of their where-abouts in the building as to not tip them off and have them run before security and metro got in sync to capture... Security pictures/tape are often shown, plus the many casino security I've known personally can vouch, first hand.

Other than that, these security 'secrets' have been shown on countless television programs in recent years. From our local news to 20/20, to Las Vegas Cheats Exposed on the Travel Channel and so on.

I had heard rumors about the 'see through' effect on some fabrics but didn't know for sure until 1998, when I left one property for another and the head of security who I was always turning down for dates, confessed as to why the guys found my red silk shirt-dress to be one of their favorites of my bussiness attire. :(

the reasoning for the thumbprinting is mostly about illegals crossing the borders here. I live in the South Central part of Texas and we don't take too kindly to illegals. They are the reason why welfare is rampent and people like my parents are paying for them to stay in the country illegally and have many babies. buck it sounds to me like you've never really had first hand accounts of our systems over here in Texas. I'm not really for the government but some of them are in for a reason. We have a government here similar to fed. It takes alot for one thing to get passed because even the people here have to vote on it in order for it to become a law. Did you know that? Yes, Texas residents get to vote laws in on their own state. Admittly to a point I will agree to you. But some of the things that you say are quite hurtful to me. I've been born and raised a Texas resident. I like the state that I live in I don't have to agree with the government all the time. But what you say really hurts me and I find it quite offensive that you keep ranting on and on about it after we've already heard the same thing to begin with. Ok fine if you don't like the government that is your choice and opinion no one is forcing you to live over here.

I could care less whether you put your seatbelt on in the morning or choose to skydive cause its fun. That is your life and I respect you for it. I'm going into the nursing field. In order to have a job at the local hospital here. I didn't have to give fingerprints or anything like that. They are even paying for my college with their money not the governments. I didn't even have to go through any of that stuff to have the job after I get through school. It's hurtful to me that you seem ever so constant to judge another person's way of being because of their life of where they live of how they run it. I'm sorry I've never judged you on these boards and have given respect to NZ and your country. Whether you deserve it or not and quite frankly alot of comments I've had to keep to myself. Do I agree with the government no....But if I want to live here I have to. I forgive you for being on this thread in particularly you ability to sit here and tell everybody run from the American government. You can't control the world certainly not everyone on here. I'm sorry you feel that way and I hope it changes. Anyways....I love you as a sister in Christ. Please don't cut me down just cause I live in a state with a goverment you don't agree on.

I am sooo sorry! I really am. I didn't want to offend anyone and I really didn't realise that I had done so by what I said. Honestly I wasn't trying to dis' Texas or the American way of life and I apologise unreservedly because you have got that impression.

I have always admired the American system and it has been portrayed as basically honest where so many others are corrupt and "the truth will win out in the end". Over the last few years I have been reading about the US government making all sorts of legislation over-riding the constitution, and the fact that presidential "executive orders" have been exercised more in the past five years or so since (I think) than in the history of the US. This makes me very sad and I feel for the American people.

I admired Ronald Regan very much as a president and then the reasonable-honest (as much as you could expect anyway) US polititical system seemed to continue for a while and then suddenly under Clinton I was reading about the most horrible things, violations of human rights - like the "Waco" incident (which I didn't read any publicity about that urged me to look further into the incident until about seven years after it, and then I found out how horrible it really was).

I very much admire the US people and their way of life and their system of life, I really, honestly, don't want to insult anyone. Compared to what I see here I get the impression that America is a truly Christian country and your leaders actually have the courage to say so and the people actually "live the Christian life" as opposed to - mainly what I see here - playing "lip service" to it.

It makes me almost despair though when I see something like mass fingerprinting (just to drive a motor vehicle as well as a lot of other things) and people just accepting it as if there were nothing wrong with it or "creepy" about it. And a couple of days ago I was reading about Florida planning to introduce a system of iris scanning (actually, it could be retina scanning, I'm not sure now and I can't find the article) and then I reading about how "acceptable" it is becomming to have face recognition software everywhere.

Then - with these things still "fresh in my mind" - I turned on the radio this morning and the outcome of a case brought by some supermarket workers near where I live of a lawsuit against the company for introducing a system of "fingerscanning" for them to "clock in" without consultation, was on, and the court ruled that the company had to either remove the system or provide an alternative for workers so that they didn't have to give their fingerprints. The words of the judge were "the workers should be treated like people, not slaves or criminals". That summed up my attitude exactly. I'm wondering if this view is "old fashioned" or whether or not people in other places still feel hesitant to give up their most personal privacy.

I very much appreciate that there is a problem with illegal aliens in Texas and perhaps I am missing something obvious or I am really thick but I honestly don't see how taking the fingerprints of everybody in Texas who is living there legally, can solve this problem. I know about the system in Texas of public participation in law making and I think it is a brilliant idea, but I just don't understand how such draconian legislation like fingerprinting of motorists can come in. Why didn't the people just say something like "well, we're never going to stand for that"? Was there much opposition to it? However, in saying these things I never really meant to be hurtful to you and I'm really sorry that I came across that way.

In NZ bagging the government is a national sport but I guess you take it rather more seriously. I know that doesn't sound much of an excuse. Again I have to apologise, not only to you but to everybody who feels slighted by my words.

buck it is perfectly fine to express your opinion but if you see it from the perpective that I do....its wrong. admittly this is a debate. You don't know everything that goes on here from the sounds of it. I accept your apology. I'm sorry for being so blunt but I had tried to let things pass. I forgive you and I still love you as sis in Christ. :whistling::whistling::cool:;)
