Why is it that when Moses slew the egyptian, God did not require Moses life for his?? The Bible teaches that shedding of man's blood requires yours. Can someone give me an answer on this?? I would appreciate it. I am doing a study on the Life of Moses.

One of the questions that was asked. YSIC Littlelite

Well, first of all, remember the timeline. God hadn't given Moses either the Ten Commandments or the Law yet. So the Law that the Israelites were to put to death those who murdered hadn't been established.

Actually the passage littlelite refers to predates Moses by 800 years or so. It was said to Noah. And I am convinced it deals with unjustifiable homocide. Obviously Somebody Important considered Moses' slaying of the Egyptian slavedriver to be quite justified!

Well, certainly the Egyptians would not have thought it justified, but as I said "Somebody Important (wink wink) thought it was!

Also, don't knock vigilantism..........

I agree that murder in self defense shouldn't be viewed as wrong. BUt the question is was this in self defense? . But God knows things that no one else knows so obviously in some means it wasn't wrong. Or our forgiving God forgave him. If someone kills and asks for forgiveness are you saying God wouldn't forgive them?

As Moses' killing was in defense of someone else, why wouldn't he still entertain thoughts of guilt? He most certainly would, and as he was of the house of the Pharaoh, that would be cause for his concern.

Moses obviously already knew he was/is a Hebrew, and killing of an Egyptian by a Hebrew would have been certain death, whether justified or not.... Ramseys evidently never new about it, for when Moses returned, he was not charged with it.... if Moses was an egyptian, chances are he would not have to face death for killing an egytian if there was cause...

kind of like with Paul, him being a Roman citizen, he had rights that the other Christians did not, and there were times he used this for leverage. like when he was in prison and he brought it to the authorities attention that they had beaten a Roman Citizen and cast him into prison......ILLEGALLY...

if some one would have killed a roman they would have suffered greatly for it, but if a roman killed some one else, they probably would have not had the same sentence.

like now days, in some countries, if a Christian is killed, the person is said to be justified for killing an infidal..... but if they kill a muslim, they would need a reason....

True Story:

a woman from Phillipines, hired herself out to a family in one of the middle east countries. they paid for her travel, and she was to be a house keeper. she would work for small wages until she got her travel paid off, and she was sending most of what she made back to her family in the PI....

after a time, she would be given another plane ticket to return to the PI (Phillipines) for a couple weeks and then come back. ( about 2 years to get the ticket back ) but this would also require her to work for another set amount of time (bond servant, paying off a debt)

after some time in this country ( i know the country, but choose not to release it, for the USA is friendly with them) the master of the house, decided he wanted to have relations with her, and she refused (she was Catholic) she refused.... he tryed beating her into submissiion, but she still refused.... after a while she was bound, and then hung outside a window on an upper story (second floor if i recall correctly) upside down (like in feet up, head down) and he would strike her when she came to.... he finally tired of this and cut the rope and she fell to the ground.

she came to again, and through the pain and being bound she managed to work her way to the street. where people just walked right on past her, until a westerner took pitty and took her to the hospital. being she was not islamic, they did the bare minimum to keep her alive, and were not too concerned about even doing that. this female westerner paid for the services at the hospital. and also checked in on her from time to time.

then one day, she was gone....

this female westerner (westerner would be some one in the western hemisphere/USA) did some checking and found that this Philipino woman had been released to a government program, which is basiclly a womans prison..... she was placed in there, and would not be released until she would convert to Islam, at which time she was told that she would be allowed to go. following up on this woman, the westerner, found that she was being sent to a training camp, (for she had converted to islam) another prison like institution for conversion training (brainwashing)....

by the way, no charges were brought up on the man that beat her and left her for dead. none what so ever, for he was a citizen of that country, and she was not.

this was relayed to me by the woman that took her to the hospital.

Don't forget people that Moses was never allowed to enter the promised land. He would only see it from a distance before he died.

Maybe this had something to do with more than just striking the rock with his staff.

Food for thought.

Regards,

Ben.
