Death Certificates on Abortions Proposed

Legislation introduced in Tennessee would require death certificates for aborted fetuses, which likely would create public records identifying women who have abortions.

Rep. Stacey Campfield, a Republican, said his bill would provide a way to track how many abortions are performed. He predicted it would pass in the Republican-controlled Senate but would have a hard time making it through the Democratic House.

"All these people who say they are pro-life _ at least we would see how many lives are being ended out there by abortions," said Campfield.

I think its insulting to have it made mandatory.....yes it is a good idea to help those who have abortions emotionally, to bring a close to what they have done when they are ready too....but to make it a requirement is just simply insulting.....

the situation I have in mind is...12 year old gets raped...her parents (against maybe the girls wishes) force her to have an abortion...how fair would that be on her if she is not mentally ready for it at that monment?(I read the article elsewhere and there is a time limit)

Face it. Most abortions are done for convenience' sake by women who are old enough to know better.

Face it...not ALL abortions are done for convenience sake....and that has not even been taken into consideration by the people proposing this.

I didn't say all. But the vast majority are. The pro abortion crowd will always trot out some pathetic case to get sympaty for their cause.

There has to be a name on a death certificate right? So, I think if you had to name your "fetus" it just might discourage you from going through with the abortion. I think this is a wonderful idea. Insulting? Hardly, if a child gets pregnant from being raped, she is still a child and under the supervision of her parents. If the parents choose to force their child to have an abortion, then that is something they will have to answer for, not the child.

But, pregnancy through incest or rape isn't so common that it happens 4 million times a year. That is the current annual abortion rate in this country.

I am all for doing whatever we can to discourage abortion and I think naming a "fetus" is a step in the right direction.
