I read the entire article and found it quite interesting and informative. I spent much of my life in Scientific Research - a PhD in Medical Biochemistry and 25 years in Clinical diagnostic research. As a scientist I cannot understand how any intelligent person can believe that it all started with a BIG BANG. I know - E=MC2 - interchangeability of matter and energy but where did it come from in the first place? A joke: Several scientists were in the lab and mixed together a very well defined set of chemicals and low and behold when viewed under the microscope it was moving. One of the scientists ran out of the door - lifted up the vial that contained the new life and said, "God, we don't need you any more. We have created life out out the dirt!" From the sky he heard in a loud booming voice, "Get your own dirt!".

Joking aside - we have been given intelligence and we should continue to seek knowledge. There is much we do not know. For a second in time I was the world's leading expert on "Gluconeogenesis in the Liver and Kidney of Thiamine Deficient Rats". WOW - It's so exciting you can say it backwards WOW! What I really discovered after many years of study was how little I really knew.

I definitely feel that the search for the truth should continue - creation (the world around us and the universe) is a source of vast information, in my opinion, about the Creator. Many times I have been asked my opinion of Evolution vs Intelligent Design. My answer, "A great opportunity for study and debate as is a Pretribulation rapture vs Midtrib, or Posttrib - Personally I believe in pantrib and pancreation - it will all pan out in the end.

Since neither of these has a great effect on my salvation - which is dependent upon knowing and accepting the work and teachings of Jesus Christ and His redemption of mankind by His death on the cross - I have used the opportunity remind people of three absolutes:

The longer you stay here the older you get.

If you live long enough you will not get out of this alive.

The statistical death rate among humans regardless of their beliefs in creation, evolution, sex, sexual orientation, republican, democrat, denomination, atheist, etc is 100%.

WHAT IF THE BIBLE IS TRUE?

In answer to that wannabe patronizing comment; a species is a distinct group that shares specific attributes and a gene pool, can mate, and produce offspring which will, in turn, will be able to reproduce.

Its actually not patronizing at all and I'm sorry you took it that way. You have the short answer correct. However, new species have been produced experimentally that fit this defintion, and the results have been published. However, creationists will find some reason to refute the evidence, in spite of it fitting that definition---moving the goal posts because they would have to.

Georges is correct. There is plenty that we don't know about God and cannot begin to figure out. However, God communicates with us and has dome so clearly by virtue of the bible. At some point the unknown crosses over from being simply mysterious to out right deceptive. God gave us all of the tools, the minds, the knowledge, and the desire to try to figure out where we came from. Why would he then pull the rug out from under us like Lucy pools the football away from Charile Bron when he tries to kick it. I don't believe God would deceive us, and the mountains and mountains of data, the revealing of new techniques, etc unquestionably support evolution.

If you didn't mean to be patronizing, Myco, then I regret interpreting your response that way. I'm confused though as to why you keep saying that Creationists move the goal posts and find reasons to refute the evidence. IMO, God tells us about our origins in Genesis. He hasn't left us to figure out who we are and where we came from. I'll agree that He would not deceive us, and I do believe in evolution to a degree; no one can deny the fossil record. But.....when it comes to Man evolving from apes or all species descending from one organism.....that just didn't happen and nothing has ever surfaced that proves otherwise. :)

Glory,

I wasn't saying that two species will cross and create viable offspring (most of the time), just pointing out that the definition of "species" itself is vague even biologically speaking.

I fail to see how the principles of natural selection in action would lead to "blurring" between species. The whole idea of speciation has to do with ecological niches...biodiversity is how ecosystems function. Can you draw out what you were saying?

Evolution doesn't rest on the idea of interspecies breeding at all...quite the opposite.

Yes, I realize that evolution isn't based on interspecial breeding. The whole idea of evolution is one common ancestor for all living things; that somehow the unbelievably diverse species on Earth are the product of natural selection. This view exists in spite of the fact that all of the instructions for building an organism are contained within the DNA of that organism. Evolution would have to depend on random variations and mutations; what are the odds that random occurances can account for the diversity of life and the delicate balance of the ecosystems which you point out above? To me, all of this points to an intelligent Creator.

If natural selection was responsible for all life and if the Earth is truly 14 billion years old, which I tend to believe it is, it would seem that there would be way fewer life forms today considering how difficult it would be for random chance to establish life, diversify into millions of species, and establish the systems to sustain them.

Genesis tell us that we were created in His image. It tell us that God created everything. Evolution itself is His creation. I don't see what the problem is with reconciling evolution and creation. :)

Grace to you,

As far as natural selection occurring by chance, are you saying that doesn't happen?
:noidea::noidea::noidea:

What Brother Horizoneast says? :noidea:

Not even science says Natural Selection, some scientists yes, science no!

They really need to stick to their labs and to The Scientific Method.

They would be wise to leave the Truths of Beginnings and of man's sinful nature and of Salvation and of Endings to The Word of God.

What God Says! :)

"And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so."

Genesis 1:11

God - Not Natural Selection :emot-questioned:

"And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good."

Genesis 1:21

God - Not Natural Selection :whistling:

"And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good."

Genesis 1:25

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."

Genesis 1:27

God - Not Natural Selection

"These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
