I think the OP makes a good point about the ORIGIN of these fairies, gnomes, etc. Either they are man made fantasies or their origin really is of the darkworld. Interesting. Now Santa Clause we all know is a man made myth. Do we really know that these fairies are man made concoctions? NOPE. And yes, there are many sightings of these creatures.

Anyway, kind of an interesting thread.

For me it's not the concern of evil spirits being in the gnomes and faerie statues themselves, it's the appearance of evil. We are told to abstain from the appearance of evil.

You better burn all your 1 dollar bills. :emot-shakehead:

Shalom Gerioke,

<sigh> If you honestly think that is what anyone is saying, you are mistaken.

I rather believe you know that is not what is being said and the sarcasm is not edifying or helpful in this discussion.

Shalom LFW,

Ummm, care to show me ONE PLACE where there was judgment of someone for having garden gnomes? Just one please.

The "heat" is Unchristian-like ridicule and mockery of other Believer's sincere convictions and according to the Scriptures, this is wrong. There is no way to justify or defend it.

Differing opinions are welcomed in any discussion, mockery and ridicule are not.

I guess I should have said "you better avoid 1 dollar bills". Beg your pardon. You don't have to apologize for calling me sarcastic though. I forgive you.

Shalom,

Thank you for forgiving me. However, my opinion that it was a sarcastic reply stands. As you well know, and as has been explained repeatedly, this is not what we are talking about.

Oh no! Not Santa too! It's not even summer yet and the Santa bashing has begun!

There are many sightings of what creatures? Gnomes? Elves? Fairies? Little people? I would love to see links for this...I seem to recall Sir Arthur Conan Doyle once claiming to have seen a fairy in his garden, but I always attributed that to his famed 7% solution.

I am wondering if Paul's discussion of "meat sacrificed to idols" would have any bearing on this. According to Paul the meat in itself had no significance, but some could not get past the idea that it had at one time been used in pagan worship. According to Paul, the ability to eat such meat is a matter of ones own faith.

Exactly. I used that very passage in my response.

Ovedya,

that was the most accurate post I've read in this thread yet. Very long but well worth reading through in it's entirety.

Thanks.

Does anybody have a theory as to why demons will attach themselves to certain houses/places and haunt them, and not others?

This question is for those who believe in hauntings. Ovedya ...what say ye??

I don't know that I have a rational explanation for that. Perhaps it's just some places are more effective than others to perpetuate the lie.
