Jesus says only the Father knows the "day and the hour," but time and again Jesus speaks of understanding "the signs of the times." If the end times came and we were looking forward to it only to realize later that we were acting selfish and not loving our neighbors by striving to save their souls. I must be a poor Christian because when the final end is coming does not seem to interest me very much. What does challenge me and keep me on my toes is the thought that my journey on earth with Christ may come at any time. It is something always in my conscience thoughts when saying goodbye or goodnight to family and others, or deciding what is urgent to do today or as soon as possible, like forgiving somebody or something I had forgotten to forgive. As to knowing when the end will be, that is something that is relatively unimportant in my thinking, though in my long term planning it is always a consideration. 'Only the Father knows the time' leaves me very comfortable and non-inquisitive. My loving Heavenly Father knows best. I leave all 'ifs' or 'buts' or complications to him.
