And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. he end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined.

What city and sanctuary?

The subject is Messiah, who was cut off, but not for himself: (Verse 26)

The command to rebuild the city was to rebuild Jerusalem.

then in A.D. 70 the city (Jerusalem) and the sanctuary the (temple) were destroyed, left desolate.

Agreed, But people speak as if it will happen again . . . destroying the city and the sanctuary. That is why I asked the question.

Some other interpreters with a futurist perspective think that Jesus' prophecy deals with a literal, end-times Antichrist.

I believe that Matthew 24:15 is referring to end time prophecy, verse 21 I believe validates this, because it states that there shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. This is the great tribulation described in the book of Revalations.

Verse 14 also indicates end times.

verse 15 is when the abomination of desolation, spoken by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, this is during the Great Tribulation.

Matt 24:

11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

There are other verses such as Revelation 11 this also is end time prophesy, none of these events have occurred any time in past history.

Revelation 11

The phrase "nor ever shall be" indicates a continuation of things, not an end times. With a thorough reading of Josephus War of the Jews and the last years of the temple and Jerusalem as the capital of Israel one would read of horrors suffered by the Jews caused by their own countrymen . . . the likes of which has never been repeated.

The powers that be are aligning world nations into a 10-super-nation configuration of which the North American Union is one. When this configuration is firmly set in place, you can look for the antichrist to surface.

Not too long hence, our Lord will appear in the clouds and we won't worry about it for billions of years at the very least.

The Great Tribulation as recorded in the book of Revelations cannot be compared with any other event in our past history , even the siege of Jerusalem prior and into AD 70. The time when the Antichrist is in power along with the bowl and seal judgements could not have occurred antime in the history of this planet. And following those days of the Great Tribulation the Lord will return and set up His kingdom. None of these events have happened. We don't see the lion lying with the lamb, nor weapons beat in to plowshares, so AD 70 could not be fulfillment of the Great Tribulation.

These are not in Revelation. You are combining texts and interpreting as the same fulfillment.

Revelation 3-6 could have been fulfilled in 70 A.D., I see no problem accepting that myself having read Josephus
