House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco rejected Republican demands Thursday that she apologize for her strong condemnation of President Bush, as raw nerves over Iraq collided with raw politics on Capitol Hill.

Republican leaders accused Pelosi of taunting the troops, inspiring the enemy and putting American lives at risk by telling The Chronicle on Wednesday that Bush is an "incompetent leader'' who lacks the judgment, experience or knowledge to make good decisions.

Pelosi stood her ground, telling reporters that "the emperor has no clothes." With the violence in Iraq threatening to overshadow all other issues in the coming election season, each party claimed to possess the moral high ground in setting the rules for debate.

What do you guys think of this?

Well considering this "war on terrorism" according to the administrations defination may well last 20 to 50 years. With this the case you can't really expect people to keep their opinions to themselves for that length of time in a country with supposedly open government.

She has the right to express her feelings openly any way she desires and is willing to accept the return words and actions of the people of the country. I am sure there will be a price to pay from many for her words.

I personally agree with her asessment of the administration, and I have a right to say so for I helped vote them into office. Think what you will of me for it doesn't matter in the long run, but I am very disappointed in Mr. Bush and friends.

I think she spoke her mind and was right to do so. I read what she said and it wasn't out of line. She basically put forth that the administration didn't think things through thouroughly before going to war in Iraq, and I quote:

"I believe that the president's leadership in the actions taken in Iraq demonstrate an incompetence in terms of knowledge, judgment and experience in making the decisions that would have been necessary to truly accomplish the mission without the deaths to our troops and the cost to our taxpayers."

She was well within her rights to say so if she thought so. If more politicians spoke their mind we'd be a lot better off.

I wish more Democrats would say this!

We would end up with 100% Republicans in government except in San Francisco and Boston were righteousness doesn't matter even a little bit

Thank God my hope isn't in a political party...but the liberal wing of the Democratic Party is taking a bold stand for wickedness every chance they get.

Those darn un-patriotic spawns of Satan!!! :t2:

At least the Republic spawns of Satan are patriotic! :t2:

Patriotic doesn't have to mean Dumb.

It is not unpatriotic to criticize our leaders, in fact our founding fathers thought it was our civic duty to question our leadership and their motives.

I don't vote for Republican or Indpendant, I vote for the person.

Yes,

but not in time of war when the lives and welfare of our troops are at stake!

That used to be considered either treason or sedition.

Nancy and her ilk are just trying to destroy Bush and in the process putting our troops in even more danger. She is one of the "Enemy within." She is against everything decent and moral. She favors murdering babies. She should be behind bars in my opinion. Ditto for most of the alphabet channel news reporters, or traitors I should say.

How patriotic of you John...to speak out against our leaders

I'm sure our friends here would agree that was a good thing....

we live in a country where thousands have died to protect our right to free speach... whether your democrat, republican, or anything else.

but with every right comes a HEAVY responsibility to weigh what we say and when we say it.... and how our words might impact the lives of others.

remember right after 9/11? the entire nation was united in grief. the entire nation was united in the determination to put an end to terrorism. little by little our nation became divided again, and becomes more divided every hour that we draw nearer to the election.

nancy had every right to voice her opinion. but she acted very irresponsibly in her timing and her platform, which is typical of the current democratic party. note i said the current one. in generations past, the democratic party was honorable and put the welfare of its citizens and its troops before their political greed. such is not the case anymore.

this is not to say that the republican party has a spotless track record either! but if you examine both parties throughout history, the two seem to have both done total reversals. i still vote according to a person, not according to a party. it just so happens that there are very few democrats i'd bother voting for.... and very few republicans i wouldn't vote for.

zel miller, democrat, would get my vote in a heartbeat for any office he ran for that i had a voice in.

kenny guinn, republican, will never get a vote from me unless it is to be given a one way ticket to syberia. maybe he'd have the good fortune to be seated next to nancy.

Sedition or Treason for those acts were only for enlisted troops on the front lines. It is well within her right to voice her opinion whether I agree with it or not.

Fallacy of non sequitur and not even a reasonable argument here. Basically all you said is "she's bad because I don't like her". Sure she doesn't like Bush and neither do I but that doesn't mean we're out to destroy the USA.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
