I don't know what to tell you. I could write pages and pages of moans and groans but none of it would really make clear why I feel like this.

David, seek medical attention!! Often these problems can be more related to a chemical imbalance than spiritual or mental. See you doctor and tell him what you're feeling. Let him run some tests...at least blood work. He will also know who to refer you to for counseling.

Remember...you are made up of body, mind and spirit. Your feelings of despair could be rooted in any of the three so treat each one individually. Once you rule out a physical problem, then seek counseling...preferably with a Christian counselor or a good Pastor. BUT first...see your doctor. AND as with all things, pray to the Lord. It brings me peace. :emot-pray:

I've been through the medical profession with this before. A GP just prescribes a common anti-depressant if you say you're depressed, there's no tests or blood work. I don't know what it's like where you pay for your doctor's time but here you get about ten minutes with your GP and they hurry to make a diagnosis and once they have their first thought is a prescription. In the NHS, they throw drugs at a problem, regardless of what it is. Maybe I can ask for some chemical tests but I've never been through anything like that before.

As for counselling, I've been there as well. Hard as it is for me to talk about my feelings to someone it didn't help much last time. They told me I'm depressed because of my circumstances and only I can change things for myself.

David, have you thought about maybe talking with someone from your church? Maybe I shouldn't be assuming you go to church, but that might be the best way to help you.

Don't give up on the medical profession. Speaking from experience, it could be a number of chemical deficiencies. such as a testosterone deficiency (or a number of other hormones), that can lead to feelings of depression and hopelessness. My wife is a medical practitioner and sees patients everyday who suffer like you. My son suffers (a result of two strokes and a rare brain disease). My advice would be to seek a referral to an endocrinologist who may be able to run the appropriate tests that can determine if the problem is chemical. You need a specialist...not a GP.

Whoever told you there are no tests or blood work is wrong, by the way. A full blood panel will determine if anything obvious is out of the normal limits that could be causing the mood. A good endocrinologist will know what to do.

I wish there was someone in my life that cared for me or liked me as much as I like them... I love but no one loves me back. Well, my sister does, but she's the only one I think. Just seems like my love isn't worth anything, I give it to someone and expect something in return but they never wanted it. It's not some priceless treasure to them, it's just worthless.

Hi David, Yes as everyone has said here we do care for you and are willing to listen. It takes a lot sometimes to open up to people. As I have learned when doing that it things start to stir in our heart and a healing starts. David your Love that you show and give people is worth things. Even if people do not show anything or any reaction in return. but every time you may not know what that moment did to them. We all leave an impact on the people that we met and even if you see someone that does not seem like they are receiving it in a positive way, maybe that was a little something that they needed that day. I don't if you have a relationship with the Lord but those little things that we do even the hidden things are treasures and Jesus see them.

David Hang in there my Friend you will overcome this. :emot-hug:

Keep on venting here if it helps. I know it always helps me. The Holy Spirit puts a lot of empathy in people, so this is a good place to come to for understanding.

Think I'm getting used to loving people that don't love me back.

Think I'm getting used to loving people that don't love me back.

Then you are SO on the right track. Imagine how many people rejected Jesus' love. At the end of His life here, 12 + some women (I'm not sure how many) were the only ones who loved Him back. Out of how many? I can't even guess the population of Israel at the time adding in the Roman occupation, but it's a lot. And He died for all of us 2000 some odd years later (I'm sooo bad with math) AND all of those that will come after us. Compare how many people you think do and will love Jesus, then compare that number with how many you think do and will hate Him or outright reject Him. Even Jesus was sad when all those who had been following Him walked away (except for the 12). Your in good company David. And its beginning to sound like you are suffering as Jesus suffered. That's a blessing. Jesus loves ALL the world, including all those that hate Him. Maybe you're more like Jesus than you know. You do have His Spirit dwelling within you. And that is why you CAN love those who don't seem to love you back, or maybe just don't.
