Baraminology is not supported by scripture and creates more contradictions than it solves. In theory it could explain why the 20+ million species alive today did not have to all be on the ark. However, to get to that number with just a few thousand "passengers" (I think someone calculated 16,000), would require the evolutionary mechanisms that creationists say do not exist. A detailed reading of scripture passages that utilize "kinds" would lead the reader to conclude that "kinds" means species.
