Once again, the bold is the scientific theory. When one is talking about a scientific theory, it means an idea that has held up against scrutiny and is generally accepted. It is not, as Asimov humourously points out, an idea made on a whim or an idea without proper evidence or background. There is often a general misunderstanding of the word theory when it is used in debating purposes. When it is used in debating, the default "theory" is scientific. It is faulty reasoning to assume that a theory is not true based on its status as a theory. Of course, evolution is not the only theory. Try the theories of relativity and gravity. Both are accepted as true; yet both are nevertheless theories. As I have said, a theory stands up to scrutiny, is not fallacious, and it is generally accepted. It is not a "rule in pending".

Better put, we are talking about the idea of the Christian god, and what would be true if he did exist. how utterly silly. ya know, i have two daughters. i have a husband. i have friends. but to you, i'm just some unseen force sitting at a keyboard somewhere typing a bunch of garbage. you've never met my daughters, or my husband, or my friends. those are people that i have a personal relationship with... but as far as you know, i could be making them up. to you, i could just be delusional. but ya see, i DO know them, i DO have a personal relationship with them. and whether or not you believe it or not, doesn't make it untrue, doesn't make any of them non-existant. same for God. just because YOU don't know Him, and refuse to have a relationship with Him, doesn't mean He doesn't exist. God shows mercy to them who choose to know Him. for those of you who don't, the consequences must seem very mean indeed. God, in His infinite capacity to love even the most hard-headed unlovable people, still offered you life. that is more kindness than any of us deserve. but God is also a JUST God. and justice must be done. those who refuse to know Him will perish. it would be an injustice for those who hated God to enter heaven and inherit His kingdom equally with those of us who loved Him. Isn't it obvious that I'm trying to say he doesn't exists? If He doesn't exist...who are calling mean? The idea, of course. I prefer to think of it as this: For the purpose of this debate, we are agreeing that the Christian God is true. Since that term has been agreed to, we are debating the actuality of his powers and such.

funny joke. if you don't want God's gift, then you shouldn't have expectations and demands that He stick around and help you stay alive. little different from a policeman who swore to protect your life even if you didn't want his help. So God doesn't care about all of his creation, just the Christians?

Sure they do. If millions of people die everyday, and thousands of them are brutally murdered, we are all allowing it to happen.... ...and I'm a parent. Most people's parents do not have the power to save the world in the blink of an eye.

What about the devout Christians who live there? They die off, just like the rest. And yes, I reject Jesus. I'm not ashamed. I think Jesus is a sham, a lie, an elaborate myth gone way too far.

Well, they weren't accusations. I don't accuse unicorns of anything, because I don't believe in them either. I'm merely pointing out that if God would be real, He's obviously not the most wonderful being ever. Maybe to people in first world countries, but not to people with no food or water or shelter. And stop drawing conclusions from inconclusive posts, it's supremely annoying. I don't believe in God, how could I think am God?
