  1. By Worthy News’ Johan Th. Bos in Amsterdam and Stefan J. Bos AMSTERDAM (Worthy News) – Pro-Israel and pro-Palestine supporters clashed in Amsterdam, where the Dutch capital’s soccer club Ajax played against Maccabi Tel Aviv from Israel amid tight security. At the same time, a live televised talk show of Dutch broadcaster BNNVARA was interrupted by a pro-Palestine activist carrying a flag and shouting anti-Israel slogans. Ahead of the match at the Johan Cruijff ArenA stadium, Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema banned protests in the area, fearing clashes. She did not ban similar pro-Palestine rallies on October 7, the day of the Hamas massacre in Israel, near pro-Israel rallies. Earlier pro-Hamas and Palestine protests were allowed near the opening ceremony of Amsterdam’s Holocaust Museum, where protesters shouted antisemitic slogans against survivors of the Holocaust, also known as the Shoah. Yet after a public outcry, Halsema said she decided to ban such rallies at sensitive areas Thursday, citing “clear indications of violence.” She referred to Ajax’s hard-core supporters, the F-side, who said they “wanted to intervene” in the pro-Palestine protest. Ajax players also endured antisemitic slogans, as the club has had several Jewish players and managers. Amid the tensions, Ajax won 5-0 against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League match. AMSTERDAM UNREST Yet, Ajax celebrations were overshadowed by unrest outside the stadium where hundreds of supporters of the Israeli team had gathered at Amsterdam’s central Dam Square. Armed with fireworks, several clashed with pro-Palestinian demonstrators, who were also allowed in the area despite a heavy police presence. However, reporters established that dozens of people, at least 30 by the last count, were detained during the day. Following the incidents at Dam Square, near the National Monument where Jewish and other victims of wars are remembered, anti-Israel protesters moved toward the stadium. Shouting slogans such as “Allahu Akbar!, meaning “Allah is the greatest!” and “Free Palestine!” demonstrators gathered at a shopping center near the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Police tried to prevent the crowds from reaching the stadium and pushed them back to a square that had been designated for the purpose. However, the skirmishes in the streets of Amsterdam underscored broader concerns among Dutch Jews about rising anti-Israel sentiments along with antisemitism in the Netherlands. BAR LATE That became clear late Thursday when a man interrupted the “Bar Laat”(“Bar Late”) talk show of Dutch public broadcaster BNNVARA. Shortly after television host Jeroen Pauw introduced Dutch leftist GroenLinks-PvdA (GreenLeft–Labour) party leader Frans Timmermans, the man shouted that the “state journalist” was “not giving a platform to anti-genocide demonstrators. He shouted, “Children are being burned alive in Gaza and dying of hunger.” Addressing Timmermans, the demonstrator said that he “denies genocide.” “I don’t do that,” the politician responded. Security guards then whisked the protester away. “Scandalous, shame on you, where is your conscience?” he shouted. Israel has vehemently denied it committed genocide in Gaza, saying it targets “Hamas terrorists” who massacred some 1,200 people in Israel last year. Hamas-run authorities say more than 44,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes, but those figures have been complex to verify independently. Israel has given slightly lower death toll numbers but adds that nearly half of the victims are Hamas fighters. 2. Friend, don't look back! Luke 17:32 Remember Lot's wife. When Yeshua (Jesus) was describing the societal atmosphere of His return, he said these peculiar words … “Remember Lot’s Wife.” It was a warning … especially to the generation of believers just before His return. In Genesis 19, we read of God’s destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and specifically of how Lot’s wife turned to look at the destruction and was turned into a pillar of salt. [Genesis 19:26] She turned around … and the warning to us is … don’t look back! This past Tuesday, the United States witnessed a historic election, with Donald Trump winning the presidential race by a landslide. He launched his political career with the slogan, "Make America Great Again!" This powerful slogan, reminding many Americans of the nation's dramatic decline since their youth, inspired them to vote in hope of witnessing a restoration of former glory. For some, this was a nostalgic longing; for others, a passion for something that seemed almost irretrievably lost. However one recalls or defines it, America's greatness does seem to be irrevocably fading, and our view is that looking back and longing for its recovery is looking in the wrong direction. While some call this nation modern "Babylon" or even "Sodom," what we see is a nation of paradox, full of tremendous blessings and, sadly, real wickedness. But however you view her, we believe it is unwise and even dangerous to look back to America's past in hope of that kind of restoration. Since the "Days of Noah" are again upon us, we're not expecting or focused on political solutions but looking toward the Kingdom that is soon coming! When I worked for the Christian Coalition in the early 2000s, I began to realize that the real issues America faces could not be remedied by politics. Political realities simply reflect a nation's and its people's internal moral and cultural climate. In their drive for power, most politicians are simply responding to or manipulating the current passions of the populace. Laws can be changed, but they will reflect the mores of the people, shaped by media, music, art, and culture. Those influences reveal a nation's true soul. While some leaders are morally superior to others and may seem to offer hope, the real problems which plague society are internal and reflect the deeply rooted sin in human nature. The Gospel of Yeshua, the Messiah (Jesus Christ), is the only path and hope for any degree of national restoration. Anyone who has studied revivals can see this. So nostalgically looking at the past with a view toward political transformation might not turn you into a pillar of salt but may seriously deflect us from the real hope and task of transformation: the Gospel, which points to the coming Kingdom and the coming King. Any reclamation of greatness, individual or national, will depend utterly on the transforming power of the Messiah and the profound inner work of His Holy Spirit. Friend, let’s not look back as Lot's wife did toward whatever the "good life" was in Sodom or America; [Luke 9:62]. Any "greatness" that's worth regaining will come from looking UP, not back! Our calling is to make disciples, anticipating the coming Kingdom where politics will not be "as usual" but everlasting righteousness in the presence of our King Yeshua. 3. by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – All 10 million residents of Cuba were hit with another total power outage on Wednesday, as Hurricane Rafael made landfall on the island’s western coast as a powerful Category 3 storm with sustained winds of 115 mph (185 kph). The hurricane had swept by the Cayman Islands as a Category 1 storm before quickly strengthening to a powerful hurricane on its way to southwest Cuba. With the US-based National Hurricane Centre (NHC) warning of a “life-threatening storm surge, damaging hurricane-force winds and flash flooding” across much of western Cuba, Hurricane Rafael tore into Cuba’s capital Havana late on Wednesday afternoon, Sky News reports. Residents were ordered to seek shelter as high winds pulled down trees and power lines, and forecasters warned of flash flooding, Sky News said. Schools were closed and public transport was suspended. As of Thursday, Rafael had weakened to a category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of around 105mph (170km) off the northwestern coast of Cuba. The storm is expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico in the next few days, Sky News said. Cuba has faced other major blackouts in recent weeks as the country’s power grid collapsed under the effects of Hurricane Oscar and fuel shortages from Venezuela and Russia. 4. by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – The head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog has announced he may travel to Iran in the coming days to discuss unresolved questions about Tehran’s nuclear ambitions and long-suspected intention to build an atomic bomb, Reuters reports. In making his announcement, International Atomic Energy Agency Chief Rafael Grossi said he had hoped to go to Tehran before the November 5 election won by Republican candidate Donald Trump. It remains to be seen what President-elect Trump’s policy toward Iran will be in his second term, which is set to begin in January 2025. During his first term, Trump unilaterally withdrew the US from the Obama-era Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action Iran deal and reimposed sanctions that had been lifted in the hopes that Tehran would fall into line with the West’s demands for transparency and limits to its nuclear program. Current US President Biden sought unsuccessfully to revive the deal during his tenure. According to Reuters, Iranian officials have welcomed a visit from Grossi, adding they are willing to cooperate with the IAEA. “Issues at stake include Tehran’s barring of uranium-enrichment experts from IAEA inspection teams in the country and its failure for years to explain uranium traces found at undeclared sites,” Reuters noted. “We are already talking to colleagues in Iran for my next visit maybe in a few days. We still have to confirm the time but this will be done,” Grossi told a news conference in Rome on Wednesday. 5. by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – With headquarters in the US, the Africa Mission Association (AMA) works to unite churches in establishing new Africa-led and funded missions in all 54 African countries, Christian Daily International (CDI) reports. AMA is “a unified family of churches” that seeks to support fellow churches in Africa by providing services including financial support and training for missionary work. AMA is currently present in seven African countries, including Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Burundi. “Our vision is to have a community of devoted disciples of Christ within walking distance of every African,” the AMA explains in a website statement. “We strive to facilitate great partnerships, provide excellent accountability and reporting,” the statement reads. Speaking to Christian Daily International, AMA Vice Chair Stephen Mbogo said his organization is “strategically working to establish national mission associations in each African country by fostering a sense of ownership and coordination at the national level.” One of AMA’s chief aims is to increase “resources, money, and people in support of Africa,” the website confirms. However, this is a major challenge for the group. According to Mbogo, the historical under-representation of Africa’s important contribution to the global missionary movement is “reflected in mission statistics and reports, which tend to overlook the extensive missionary activities undertaken by African churches and organizations,” CDI reports. Nevertheless, despite the challenges, “Mbogo is optimistic about the future of Africa-led and Africa-funded missions. He emphasized the immense potential that lies within the passion, commitment, and spiritual vitality of African Christians, particularly the youth,” CDI said in its report. 6. by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – The US Sixth District Court of Appeals on November 1 ruled in favor of and awarded costs to a group of firefighters in California who were placed on “involuntary, unpaid leave” for failing to comply with COVID-19 vaccine mandates on religious grounds, CBN News reports. Employees of California’s Santa Clara County, the plaintiffs were firefighters in the city of San Jose who requested a religious exemption from vaccination on the grounds that “the use of fetal cells in the inoculations” and “being forced to inject their bodies as a temple of the Holy Spirit with something potentially harmful” violated their beliefs, CBN reports. While San Jose city originally allowed the exemption, Santa Clara County overruled and rejected their request in 2021: the county maintained its rule that workers in higher-risk settings were required to be vaccinated and boosted by January 24, 2022, CBN reports. This rule extended to first responders including nurses, sheriffs, and firefighters. The plaintiffs were told they could be placed on unpaid leave for five weeks before the county amended the mandate. However, reversing a lower court ruling which had favored the county, US Sixth District Court of Appeals Justice Daniel H. Bromberg wrote: “The unpaid leave alleged by plaintiffs was involuntary and extended. It allegedly barred plaintiffs from their workplace when they want to work, and it allegedly deprived them of pay (as well as pension and seniority rights) for weeks, not just days…. “Because the…complaint plausibly alleged the extended and involuntary unpaid leave imposed on plaintiffs did not reasonably preserve their employment status, we conclude that, for purposes of the pleadings, the leave was not a reasonable accommodation,” Bromberg continued. “The City has failed to offer any persuasive reason why involuntary unpaid leave exceeding a month should not be considered an adverse employment action, much less to cite any authority taking such a position,” Bromberg added. 7. by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – The north-central African country of Chad is struggling to fight the increasingly strong presence of jihadist terrorists in its midst, the US State Department has reported. Most of the terrorism in Chad is perpetrated by the Boko Haram Islamic extremist insurgency group that is also active in the neighboring countries of Sudan, the Central African Republic, Cameroon, Libya, Nigeria, and Niger. While Chad has a Muslim government, the country’s High Council of Islamic Affairs has “promoted peaceful coexistence and tolerance, and diverse faith groups used the Dialogue to mitigate conflict,” the US State Department said in a recent report on the situation. Nevertheless, the US State Department said, “Security forces and basic government services remained underresourced, which limited the Chadian government’s ability to address all security concerns.” In a report confirming the prevalence of Islamic terror in Chad, the Open Doors international Christian advocacy group notes that Chad’s vulnerability and volatile security situation poses special problems for Christians in the country. “In this context, being a Christian carries various risks. In areas where Islam is the predominant religion, individuals converting to Christianity face significant danger and often practice their faith clandestinely to avoid violent backlash from their family or community,” Open Doors said. 8. by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – In an apparent effort to improve its relations with Egypt’s Christian community, the Islamic Egyptian government last month approved the legalization of 293 previously unlicensed churches and service buildings, All Arab News (AAN) reports. Following recommendations from the Main Committee under Article 8 of Law No. 80 from 2016, the legalization approval was given during a Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly on October 21. Egypt will now have 3,453 churches and worship centers with legal status, “Since the passing of that law, Egypt has moved to legalize churches built without prior approval, as well as authorizing the construction of new churches,” AAN said in its report. “The law was meant to address significant administrative and security hurdles in approving the construction of new churches following complaints from the Coptic Christian community.” In a recent report, the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom confirmed: “Religious freedom conditions in Egypt are trending tentatively in a positive direction.” “The country has seen a decrease in radical Islamist violence and anti-Christian mob attacks, some progress in implementing the registration process for unlicensed churches and related buildings, and the launch of a government program to address religious intolerance in rural areas,” the USCIRF noted. Nevertheless, the USCIRF cautioned: “Systematic and ongoing religious inequalities remain affixed in the Egyptian state and society, and various forms of religious bigotry and discrimination continue to plague the country’s Coptic Christians and other religious minorities.” The post Egypt Approves Legal Status for Nearly 300 Churches and Christian Centers appeared first on Worthy Christian News. 10. by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – More than 30 Sudanese Christian refugees were last month forced out of their temporary homes in Sudan’s River Nile state by Islamic residents who said they did not want Christians or black people in their neighborhood, Morning Star News (MSN) reports. On October 19, local Muslims in El Matamah, Al-Makniy ordered 34 Christians who had fled the fighting and shelling between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) to leave their area. According to the Sudan’s People Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), the Christians were initially falsely accused of stealing livestock and violating Islamic codes, MSN reports. However, after police apprehended the true thieves, it emerged that the real reason for the persecution was the Christians’ faith. “While we were waiting and following up on the legal procedures, the people of the neighborhood came to us on Saturday, October 19, 2024, and expelled and deported us from the Makniya area without protection from any official body in the locality, despite their knowledge of that,” one of the Christians, whose name is withheld for security reasons, told the SPLM-N. “We were forcibly displaced for the second time, as half of us went to Shendi [River Nile state], while the other half preferred to return to Omdurman to avoid repeating religious, ethnic and regional discrimination.” The Christians asked the police to assist them but received no response, MSN reports. “We are currently in a very bad humanitarian situation, as we have lost our shelter, and we have children, women and the elderly, and we have lost our livelihoods that help us provide for our basic daily needs,” the Christian told the SPLM-N. Currently wracked by a new civil war, Muslim-majority Sudan ranks 8 on the Open Doors World Watch List 2024 of the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted. 11. By Casey Harper | The Center Square (Worthy News) – Former President Donald Trump is on track to potentially receive 300 electoral votes or more. He won the national popular vote by about 5 million with votes still being counted. As a result, some analysts and Republicans say Trump and the GOP have a “mandate” to aggressively push forward with their agenda. “America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate,” Trump said in his speech early Wednesday morning, creating a refrain echoed by his supporters. As of midday Wednesday, Trump secured 292 electoral votes after Michigan and its 15 votes were called – 270 were needed to win the race. He also leads Vice President Kamala Harris in Alaska, Arizona and Nevada. If Trump holds in those states, he will have 312 electoral votes, propelled in large part due to a level of support from Black voters and Hispanic voters unusual for a Republican. “The American people have sent a clear message through President Trump’s resounding victory,” U.S. Sen. Thom Thillis, R-N.C., wrote on X. “The mandate is clear: fix the economy, secure the border, keep America safe, and confirm more judges who follow the Constitution.” At the same time Wednesday, House Republicans had won 198 House racers and Democrats had won 177 with the rest uncalled; 218 are needed to win a majority. In the Senate, Republicans won 52 seats and Democrats won 42 with six still to be called, flipping the upper chamber to GOP control. “This is a mandate,” Scott Jennings, an alum of the George W. Bush administration and CNN analyst said on the air as results came in early Wednesday morning. “He won the national popular vote for the first time for a Republican since 2004,” Jennings said. “This is a big deal. This isn’t backing into the office. This is a mandate to do what you said you were going to do. Get the economy working again for regular, working class Americans. Fix immigration. Try to get crime under control. Try to reduce the chaos in the world. This is a mandate from the American people to do that.” On economic policy, Trump is expected to double down on domestic oil drilling to increase revenue for the U.S. and lower energy costs for Americans. Trump made inflation a focus of his campaign, pledging to use domestic oil to get costs down for Americans and even pay off debt with the tax revenue. “Our long national nightmare with the Green New Deal is finally over because energy was on the ballot in 2024, and energy won,” said Daniel Turner, founder and executive director of energy worker advocacy group Power The Future. “On day one, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris fired thousands of Keystone XL workers and thankfully starting in January it’s this administration that will be unemployed.” Republicans have also vowed tax reform, something they prioritized after Trump came into office last time around. Experts said the market reacted favorably to Trump’s win. “Trump’s election victory sparked a rally in the greenback last night as growth and inflation expectations rerated higher,” Adam Turnquist, chief technical strategist for LPL Financial in Charlotte, North Carolina, said in a statement. “Fed funds futures dialed back rate cut expectations from five to four 0.25% cuts by the end of next year. Yields surged higher, a move further exacerbated by deficit spending concerns, especially if Republicans secure the House.” Trump also pledged to quickly negotiate an end the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, something that earned him bipartisan support from many Americans, including Arab and Muslim Americans frustrated by the Biden-Harris handling of the Israel-Hamas war. Pop culture figure and Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy told his 3.3 million followers the win was a “ringing endorsement of Republicans” and “an indictment against the Democrats,” using a familiar message analysts across platforms online and on television. That perception will be key for Republicans who likely have two years to push through a legislative agenda as reports indicate they will have a majority in the Senate and possibly the House. Polls showed only 28% of Americans felt the country was headed in the right direction, something incumbent Harris could not overcome. “I wanted Trump to win, but more than that, I wanted a decisive victory,” Newsweek Opinion Editor Batya Ungar-Sargon wrote on X. “If it’s true he’s won the popular vote, that is a mandate to lead. Calling Trump Hitler is now proven to be what it always was: an unforgivable smear of the majority of Americans. It’s time to embrace unity.” While Harris delayed in recognizing Trump as the winner, still not conceding as of early Wednesday afternoon, his other fiercest opponents, like former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney, recognized him on X but offered a warning. “Our nation’s democratic system functioned last night and we have a new President-elect,” said Cheney, a Republican who campaigned with Democrat Harris on the trail. “All Americans are bound, whether we like the outcome or not, to accept the results of our elections. We now have a special responsibility, as citizens of the greatest nation on earth, to do everything we can to support and defend our Constitution, preserve the rule of law, and ensure that our institutions hold over these coming four years.” Reprinted with permission from The Center Square. 12. by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – Thousands of Israelis gathered in Jerusalem and at multiple locations across the country on Wednesday evening, as the Jewish state braced for a second night of protests following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s dismissal of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. In Jerusalem, protesters gathered near the Knesset, Israel’s parliament building, urging Netanyahu to reverse his decision. The dismissal is scheduled to take effect on Thursday evening, 48 hours after the prime minister gave Gallant a letter informing him of his dismissal. These protests, dubbed “Night of Gallant 2,” recall Netanyahu’s previous dismissal of Gallant in March 2023 after he publicly opposed the prime minister’s stance on judicial reforms. Massive nationwide demonstrations, known then as “Night of Gallant,” ultimately compelled Netanyahu to reinstate him as defense minister. In response to the latest announcement, tens of thousands have gathered across Israel, with protests erupting in Haifa, Netanya, Beersheba, and at key junctions nationwide, alongside major rallies in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. This time, however, the demonstrations were much smaller, making it unlikely that public pressure will once again succeed in reversing the prime minister’s decision. Nevertheless, Netanyahu faces political opposition for his decision. In a rare display of unity, the leaders of Israel’s four Zionist opposition parties joined together on Wednesday to condemn the prime minister’s decision to remove Gallant. In a joint press conference, opposition leaders—including Yair Lapid of Yesh Atid, Benny Gantz of National Unity, Yair Golan of The Democrats Party, and Avigdor Liberman of Yisrael Beitenu—came together to accuse Netanyahu of dismissing Gallant to push through a new IDF draft law and distract from multiple escalating scandals within the Prime Minister’s Office. Lapid, the opposition leader, voiced his frustration: “The dismissal of Defense Minister Gallant yesterday is an act of insanity by an incompetent prime minister,” he began. Addressing the Israeli public, Lapid urged, “Don’t let the lies work on you. Gallant was not fired because of professional disagreements.” He continued, “You can’t trust the Prime Minister or the Cabinet. The only person who could be trusted was fired yesterday. Netanyahu is not qualified; he cannot lead Israel in wartime. The soldiers can’t trust him. He had a choice—and he chose disgrace.” In response, the Netanyahu’s Likud Party issued a statement stating, “They will continue to complain, and we will continue to win.” The party’s statement continued, “When the left, led by Golan, Lapid, and Gantz along with Liberman, stands by Gallant—that says everything.” The statement pointed out past criticisms of the opposition, saying, “Just a few months ago, Liberman mocked Gallant and said, ‘We don’t have a defense minister; we have a minister for threats.’ And two months ago, Gantz stated that Gallant must resign. Prime Minister Netanyahu, together with the new Defense Minister Israel Katz, will lead Israel to complete victory.” The post Thousands Protest in Jerusalem for Second Night Over Netanyahu’s Firing of Defense Minister appeared first on Worthy Christian News. 13. Friend, be God's messenger! Jonah 3:5-9 So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. Then word came to the king of Nineveh; and he arose from his throne and laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published throughout Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; do not let them eat, or drink water. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands.9Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish? Jonah preached his 8-word sermon and the Ninevites were struck with the fear of the Lord and moved to complete repentance. The king stood up (a sign of his serious intent), removed his royal robes (a sign of humility), covered himself with sackcloth (a sign of mourning), and sat in the dust (a sign of repentance). Then, according to the King's edict, every soul in Nineveh responded with desperate fasting. It's hard to imagine that level of conviction coming upon an entire metropolis of over 120,000 people. But what followed was the greatest revival in history. Everyone in the city got saved! This seems so impossible at every level. The whole story of Jonah is utterly fantastic from beginning to end...almost like a fairytale. But we know it isn't a fairytale. The Lord Himself clearly refers to Jonah's ministry as a historical fact; [Luke 11:29-30]. Through it, God is inspiring us for the days we live in. Look around, isn't the whole world going the way of ancient Nineveh? Isn't the wickedness and moral erosion around us just as horrifying as the evil deeds of the Assyrians? Can God’s judgment be far away? And what were the chances of Nineveh's revival taking place? If Jonah, who knew God's mercy and grace as a prophet, was against it, who would give the Ninevites a ghost of a chance for salvation? Many of us undoubtedly feel the same way about most of our modern cities. We've stopped believing that God can reach the unreachable or do the impossible. Instead, we say, "It's Nineveh. It's hopeless?" What can we honestly expect in these "Days of Noah and Lot"? The prophet Daniel, I believe, has an answer for us in these End Times: "Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever; [Daniel 12:3]. It took Jonah a while to get there, but he finally did shine the righteousness of God into a wicked city; and he led many to righteousness. Friend, our God still has some plans with "fairytale" dimensions. If we can get over our cynicism, apathy, judgmental attitude, and unbelief, there are still a few Nineveh's in our future, I believe. I have no illusions about the strength of those negative qualities in us, or the desperate evil in our modern cities. But there are some whose identification with the Lord in His death, just like Jonah, who will lead many to righteousness, just as he did. 14. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News BERLIN (Worthy News) – Germany’s three-party ruling coalition collapsed late Wednesday after Chancellor Olaf Scholz fired his Finance Minister Christian Lindner, adding to uncertainty in Europe’s largest economy. Wednesday’s government The crisis shocked Germans, who hoped that Donald J. Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential election would force the government to stay together. Brussels has been concerned over fears that the incoming president would target Germany’s all-important car industry in a trade war, causing it to suffer. Ultimately, however, commentators said that Trump’s looming threat did not convince the fractious parties to put aside their differences. “I would have liked to have spared you this difficult decision,” acknowledged Scholz during a hastily arranged news conference in the chancellery late Wednesday. “Especially in times like these, when uncertainty is growing,” he added. Scholz vowed to keep governing until the end of the year and then demand a confidence vote in Parliament in January, a test he would likely fail. EARLY VOTE That would open the way to early elections, possibly in March, for only the third time since the Federal Republic was founded in 1948. The trouble in Berlin hit the European Union when the bloc of 27 nations searched for direction as political and social turmoil spread across the continent. Nearby, France’s government was also in a crisis after elections, which yielded a deadlocked Parliament this year. Elsewhere, Russia has made advances on the battlefields in Ukraine that critics say continue to threaten Europe broadly. Hundreds of thousands of people are believed to have been killed and injured in Europe’s deadliest armed conflict since World War Two. 16. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – Vice President Kamala Harris acknowledged Wednesday that she had lost the U.S. presidential elections and called her rival Donald J. Trump to concede. “Earlier today, I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him. I promised him that we would have a peaceful transition of power. While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight of this campaign: The ideals that reflect America at its best,” she said. Speaking at Howard University in Washington to thousands of supporters, she said: “My heart is full of gratitude, full of love for the country. The outcome of this election is not what we want. But the light of America’s promise will also be bright.” Harris, 60, added: “I am proud of the race” to the White House.” She said over “the last 107 days, we have brought people together in our fight for the country’s future.” She told the young people who voted for her, “Don’t ever give up. You have power. Do not despair. This is a time to roll up our sleeves.” Harris also referred to her fight for abortion across America, saying women have the right to decide over their bodies. Her critics, including Christians, counter that she did not protect the fights of the unborn. Harris recalled that she started as a prosecutor. “I found people who were victims but who fought for justice.” Referring to her election defeat and President-elect Donald J. Trump soon takes over the White House, she said: “I know many people feel we enter a dark period. But the light of America will always turn bright as long as we keep fighting.” She mentioned the “light of optimism” as well as faith, truth, and service and asked for God’s blessings over America. 17. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News WASHINGTON/JERUSALEM/BUDAPEST (Worthy News) – World leaders braced Wednesday for a Trump era as Donald J. Trump emerged like a phoenix from the ashes to win the U.S. presidential race again after surviving two assassination attempts and facing defeat in a previous election. His victory added to concerns thousands of miles away in Kyiv amid concern there that Trump will end U.S. military support to Ukraine, which is fighting against Russia’s invading army. Yet Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said he can “appreciate President Trump’s commitment to the ‘peace through strength’ approach in global affairs.” Writing on social media platform X, the president stressed, “This is exactly the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer. I am hopeful that we will put it into action together.” He added, “We look forward to an era of a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership.” The secretary-general of the NATO military alliance, Mark Rutte, made clear that such cooperation is “to advance peace through strength.“ Rutte warned, „We face a growing number of challenges globally, from a more aggressive Russia to terrorism, to strategic competition with China, as well the increasing alignment of China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran.“ WORKING TOGETHER However, “Working together through NATO helps to deter aggression, protect our collective security, and support our economies,” he announced. Rutte also praised Trump for his work during his first term to persuade U.S. allies in NATO “to ramp up defense spending.” He claimed that around two-thirds of the 32 NATO allies are due to meet the organization’s main defense spending target this year. The European Union’s executive European Commission president also expressed hope for more EU-U.S. cooperation. Ursula von der Leyen said the EU and the United States “are more than just allies. We are bound by a true partnership between our people, uniting 800 million citizens.” Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed, calling Donald J. Trump’s victory in the presidential elections a new beginning. “Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback!” wrote Netanyahu on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. Under the previous presidency of Trump, the U.S. embassy moved to Jerusalem while the Abraham Accords on Arab–Israeli normalization was signed between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and between Israel and Bahrain. HUNGARY REACTS Elsewhere in Europe, Hungary’s rightwing Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was closely monitoring the ballot as one of Trump’s most outspoken supporters in the European Union. “I see a spectacular victory, perhaps the greatest comeback in Western political history, a huge fight,” Orbán said. Speaking about Trump, Orbán noted that the Republican politician “had overcome possible prison, a confiscation of his assets and assassination attempts while “the whole media world of the U.S. turned against him.” Yet “he has still won,” Orbán stressed in a video message seen by Worthy News. Orbán said he hopes Trump will help end the Russia-Ukraine war and added that “there is now a great chance” that pro-peace forces will become a majority in the Western world by the end of the year. It took time before Orbán and others could project the vote as being won by Trump. More than four hours after first Worthy News and then minutes later broadcaster Fox News declared Donald J. Trump the 47th president of the United States, The Associated Press (AP) news agency agreed. In a somewhat biased news story, the AP concluded that Trump made “an extraordinary comeback for a former president who refused to accept defeat four years ago, sparked a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, was convicted of felony charges, and survived two assassination attempts.” With a win in Wisconsin, Trump cleared the 270 electoral votes needed to clinch the presidency, the AP said. 18. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News BUDAPEST/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called Donald J. Netanyahu made clear that he hoped to intensify relations with the U.S. under Trump. “Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America.” Those words resonated with Hungary’s rightwing Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, one of Trump’s most outspoken supporters in the European Union. “I see a spectacular victory, perhaps the greatest comeback in Western political history, a huge fight,” Orbán said about the outcome of the presidential elections. Speaking about Trump, Orbán said that the Republican politician had overcome possible prison, confiscation of his assets, and assassination attempts while “the whole media world of the U.S. turned against him. US ENCOURAGEMENT Yet “he has still won,” Orbán stressed in a video message seen by Worthy News. He said Trump’s struggles gave “a great encouragement to everyone” who believes in will, struggle and perseverance, and a hope for peace for the world.” Orbán said he hoped Trump would help end the Russia-Ukraine war. Orbán added that “there is now a great chance” that “pro-peace forces become a majority in the Western world by the end of the year.” He said these forces “would defeat the pro-war camp” and now had a “great chance” of achieving that. He hoped this attitude would help improve Hungary’s economy and cause US-Hungary relations “to return to their golden era.” “We have several plans that we can carry out together with President Trump in the coming years,” Orbán said. Other European leaders, ranging from the recently elected secretary-general of the NATO military alliance, Mark Rutte, to European Union leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron, said they looked forward to working with Trump. They mentioned strengthening the transatlantic alliance, which has a combined population of some 800 million people. 19. by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – President-Elect Donald Trump achieved a historic victory on Tuesday night, overcoming legal battles, Big Tech opposition, and persistent criticism from legacy media, bolstered by a strong turnout from Black, Hispanic, and young voters—traditionally strong Democratic voting blocs. Political analysts see these voting trends as a major realignment, with Trump drawing support from constituencies that have long been rooted in the Democratic Party. While votes are still being counted, this shift could soon be called the ‘D-Exit,’ the American equivalent of Britain’s Brexit from the European Union. Tuesday night’s victory revealed a significant realignment, with Trump dramatically narrowing Democratic margins as large segments of traditionally Democratic voting blocs cast their ballots for the President-elect. Once a pivotal battleground that left the 2000 presidential election in suspense until the Supreme Court’s decision on ballot chads, Florida has now been firmly claimed by Trump and the Republican Party, winning by a decisive 15-point margin and effectively taking the Sunshine State off the battleground map. Even in Democratic strongholds, Trump made significant inroads into states that held traditionally wide margins. In New York, he managed to cut the margin of victory in half this election, and in Illinois he reduced the Democrat margin of victory by an astounding two-thirds this voting cycle. Mark Penn, the political strategist behind the Clinton dynasty, offered a concise take on ‘D-Exit’ early Wednesday morning in a post on X. “The Trump edge is turning into a Trump trifecta. It looks like despite a good effort in a short period of time, Harris is falling short especially with young people and turnout in core urban areas. Black and especially Latino voters showed some shifts,” Penn stated. “Trump has brought home with working class and created a new coalition of governing but the country remains divided and whoever wins must remember it’s time to genuinely reach out to the many moderate voters looking for the right leadership,” Penn concluded. Trump succeeded by reaching out to constituencies often ignored by Republicans and taken for granted by Democrats, welcoming disillusioned Democrats and independent voices like Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Elon Musk, and Tulsi Gabbard to his platform. Although the final election results are still being counted, early trends suggest that the ‘D-Exit’ may represent a once-in-a-lifetime political shift—one that pollsters and analysts will study for years to come. 20. by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – Authorities in China once again raided the Zion Church in Beijing last month, arresting 12 people and taking down the details of everyone in attendance as part of a crackdown on Christianity in the country, International Christian Concern (ICC) reports. China is ruled by the paranoid, authoritarian Chinese Communist Party which has banned Zion Church and other evangelical churches that refuse to register with the government and promote an anti-Christian ideology that glorifies the CCP and its leader. China currently ranks 19 on the Open Doors World Watch List 2024 of the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted. The Beijing Zion Church was raided during services held at four separate locations on October 20, ICC reports. The church was banned in 2018 after it refused to install government-monitored CCTV cameras but continued to meet as a church in different places. Among those arrested on October 20 was Elder Qin Guoliang, who was given a 14-day detention sentence. In a 2024 website report about the situation facing evangelical churches in China, the Open Doors international Christian advocacy organization states: “The Chinese Communist Party’s goal is to make sure churches don’t fall out of line with official viewpoints. In the case of official churches, this means they are encouraged to praise and pledge allegiance to the Communist Party and its ideology.” Noting that persecution and discrimination against Christians is spreading across China, Open Doors adds: “Churches that claim Christ as King are viewed with suspicion, especially since Christianity is seen as a primarily Western influence. Most churches are monitored and can be shut down without warning.” The post China: Officials Raid Beijing Church, Arrest Congregants appeared first on Worthy Christian News. View the full article
  21. by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – The International Christian Concern (ICC) persecution watchdog warns in a new report that believers in Jesus are being persecuted in seven of the 11 southeast Asia countries. Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Vietnam “condone or actively participate in Christian persecution,” ICC states in a report published on November 1. “Christians in Brunei and Cambodia are prohibited from sharing their faith, and Christ followers in Brunei cannot publicly celebrate Christmas,” ICC states in the report. “Additionally, in 2023, authorities in Brunei reportedly surveilled non-Islamic religious services to guarantee that Muslims weren’t in attendance and that sermons didn’t teach anything against Islam,” ICC said. In Myanmar/Burma, the Buddhist Burmese army (Tatmadaw) which wrested control of the country in a 2021 coup has been violently persecuting Christians, ICC said, citing the written testimony of Zo Tum Hmung, Executive Director, Chin Association of Maryland to the United States Commission on Religious Freedom (USCIRF) last year. “In Chin State and other areas with large populations of Christians, such as Kachin, Karen, Karenni State, and Sagaing Region, the Tatmadaw burns churches and targets Christian religious leaders for arrest, arbitrary detention, imprisonment, and killing. It is illustrative to look at the case of the Tatmadaw’s attacks on Thantlang Town, which share a pattern with attacks across the country,” Hmung wrote. In Indonesia, whose Constitution allows freedom of religion, Christians have been jailed under blasphemy laws for criticizing Islam, ICC states. “In 2023, Rudi Simamora, a Christian YouTuber, was sentenced to one year in prison for posting a video condemning Islam. In June 2022, Muhammad Kace, a former Muslim cleric who converted to Christianity, was sentenced to six years in prison for posting videos teaching against Islam and the Prophet Muhammad,” ICC reports. Christians in Laos are “routinely” discriminated against by the Communist authorities, ICC reports. “Officials from the Lao Evangelical Church reported in 2023 that authorities had forced 79 Christian families from their homes in Khammouane Province and made them renounce their faith,” ICC said. In Malaysia, too, Christians have been arrested under blasphemy laws for insulting Islam. “Christ followers are banned from evangelizing Muslims. Depending on where in Malaysia a Christian, or any non-Muslim, is convicted for sharing their faith with a Muslim, they may be jailed or endure caning,” ICC said. Citing a recent report by the USCIRF on the situation facing Christians in Vietnam, ICC noted that Vietnamese Christians, especially the Ha Mon Catholic and Montagnard Protestant groups, are regularly harassed by Communist government officials. According to the USCIRF, “authorities actively restrict independent Montagnard Protestants’ religious activities, forcing them to renounce their faith and arresting and sentencing them on charges of ‘undermining national unity’ and ‘abusing democratic freedoms.’” The post Persecution Watchdog Reports Christians in South-East Asia Suffer Severe Persecution appeared first on Worthy Christian News. 22. By Worthy News’ George Whitten and Stefan J. Bos WASHINGTON/NEW YORK (Worthy News) – Donald J. Trump, who survived two assassination attempts and major adversity, has been elected America’s 47th president in the biggest comeback for a former president in over a century. Speaking to supporters overwhelmed with joy, the 78-year-old president-elect said, “God spared my life for a reason: for a mission to make America great, safe, and secure again.” After winning the elections, Trump told his supporters, “We have thousands of friends. This is the largest movement in history. We are going to help our country heal.” “I want to thank the American people to have been elected the 47th and 45th president. This will truly be a golden age. This will allow us to make America great again.” He noted, “We also have won the popular vote. That was great. Winning the popular vote. These people are at my side. America has given us an unprecedented mandate. We have taken over the Senate.” He made clear his priorities would include closing the borders for illegal migrants. After thanking his wife, Melania Trump, he also thanked “the hard-working Americans. This day will be remembered as the day Americans regained control over their country,” Trump stressed. UNITING NATION “We have united people of all backgrounds,” he noticed, apparently speaking without a teleprompter. He also pledged: “I am going to stop wars,” words that could resonate in Ukraine, which had been supported by the current Biden administration in its war against Russia. He also said that he wants to make America energy-independent again and promised a golden era. Trump stressed, “We are really going to help our country,” and he said, “God bless you, and God bless America.” He spoke as the latest results showed him winning at least 277 Electoral College votes, seven more than needed to win the presidency. Trump also appeared to have won the popular vote by at least 51.2 percent, against 47.4 percent for his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris. POST-ELECTION TENSIONS She refused to concede publicly early Wednesday, and it was unclear whether she had made a phone call to Trump. Observers say the Harris and Trump may be gearing up for a post election battle and riots. Trump said he hopes to united the nation after writing history. The first Democrat elected after the Civil War in 1885, U.S. President Grover Cleveland was the only other president to leave the White House and return for a second term four years later (1885-1889 and 1893-1897). 23. y Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News LONDON (Worthy News) – At least 60,000 people viewing themselves as “pro-life” have signed a petition urging Britain’s leftist prime minister to halt a crackdown on those praying silently outside abortion clinics, Worthy News learned Tuesday. Under Prime Minister Keir Starmer, legislation came into force last weekestablishing a “buffer zone” blocking “pro-life advocates” from any form of protest within 150 to 200 meters (500 to 650 feet) of facilities’ premises in England and Wales. Britain’s interior ministry, the Home Office, said in a statement the “safe access zones” would ensure women accessing abortion services were better protected from “harassment and distress.” Ahead of the law, a Christian man was already appealing his conviction for silently praying near an abortion clinic. Adam Smith-Connor, 51, said, “The court has decided that certain thoughts – silent thoughts – can be illegal in the United Kingdom. That can not be right.” In what his supporters called “a shock ruling,” the Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court gave Smith-Connor “a conditional discharge” and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of 9,000 British pounds ($11,631), Worthy News reported earlier. He was prosecuted after praying inside a “buffer zone” that was established by local authorities at an abortion clinic in England’s coastal resort town of Bournemouth in November 2022, Worthy News learned. The area’s Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole Council charged Smith-Connor, a military veteran and father of two who fought in Afghanistan, after “an interrogation on the nature of his prayers,” his lawyers said. NEW PETITION Worthy News saw a newly published petition asking Starmer to defend those who pray silently and prevent it from being classified as a criminal offense. In the letter, authored by the Alliance Defending Freedom UK, they argue that “buffer zones” have “quickly become thought- and speech-restricting ‘censorship zones.’” “The slippery slope is clear; if the criminal law requires us to refrain from ‘offensive’ thoughts anywhere, there is simply no logical endpoint,” the letter warned. “Today, it’s pro-life views that offend progressive social orthodoxies; tomorrow, it could be gender-critical views and gender-critical buffer zones. A genuinely democratic society must champion diversity of thought and the free and frank exchange of views.” Directly addressing Starmer, the letter’s signatories urged the prime minister “to refrain from issuing guidance that ignores the courts, domestic and international law, and the fundamental rights of the members of the public who put you into power” and “act urgently to ensure that thought is never buffered, censored, or criminalized.” Yet there were no indications Tuesday that Starmer, who has been on record for supporting “abortion rights,”’ would change the policy. 24. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News LONDON/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Scientists say they have discovered that the world’s oldest known map refers to the likely location of Noah’s Ark, as mentioned in the Bible. Their findings read like a script from Indiana Jones, the film franchise about Dr. Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones Jr., the fictional professor of archaeology. Yet unlike Hollywood’s character, the real Indiana Jones of this world has deciphered a 3,000-year-old tablet that puzzled archaeologists for centuries. The ancient Babylonian artifact, a map etched with cuneiform—a script using wedge-shaped symbols— was found in what is now Iraq before being acquired by the British Museum in 1882 Known as the Imago Mundi, it depicts a circular world map, illustrating early Babylonian ideas about the world’s creation. The Babylonian map is thought to show the entire known world at the time, with Mesopotamia at the bottom center. That wasn’t a surprise as the ancient state of Babylonia was located in central Mesopotamia, which consists of today’s Iraq and parts of Syria and Iran. Mesopotamia is enclosed by a circle representing a “bitter river” that was believed to surround the entire world, marking the borders of the known world at that time. ANCIENT GUIDE On the reverse side of the artifact, passages reportedly provide a guide describing what a traveler would encounter on a journey long before generations relied on Google Maps and other systems to find their way. Experts discovered that it includes a path to “Urartu” and specific instructions on how to get there. One passage says: “To the fourth, to which you must travel seven leagues.” Another passage reportedly instructs those on the journey to go through “seven leagues” to see something “thick as a parsiktu-vessel.” The term “parsiktu” appears on other ancient Babylonian tablets, referencing the scale of a vessel meant to withstand the legendary Great Flood, experts say. Researchers believe that Urartu, also known as Ararat, is linked to an ancient Mesopotamian poem recounting a family who, like Noah, landed their ark to preserve life. They landed the vessel after a 150-day flood that killed all life on earth except those in the Ark, resembling Noah, his loved ones, and animals As the flooding ended, they were safely stationed at one of the peaks of Urartu, which aligns with “Ararat,” the Hebrew term for the mountain where Noah’s Ark reportedly came to rest after the flood. Biblical texts also recount that Noah’s Ark came to rest on the “mountains of Ararat,” with Genesis 8:4 stating, “And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.” Some Biblical scholars suggest that the flooding occurred over 4,300 years ago. According to experts, the supposed ark site in Turkey aligns with the dimensions in the Bible of “300 cubits, 50 cubits, by 30 cubits,” which translates to around 515 feet (about 157 meters) long, 86 feet (roughly 26 meters) wide, and 52 feet (nearly 16 meters) high. While scholars may disagree on the exact location and timing, the Imago Mundi map “shows that the story was the same. And of course that one led to the other but also, that from the Babylonian point of view, this was a matter of fact thing,” noted Irving Finkel, a British Museum curator and cuneiform expert. He added that the discovered artifact clearly shows that “if you did go on this journey, you would see the remnants of this historic boat,” Noah’s Ark. 25. by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – Amid intense focus on the U.S. presidential election, the U.S. Space Force will launch an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile from Vandenberg Space Force Base tonight. Some Americans have expressed concern about the test’s timing on election day, but military officials clarified that it is a routine launch planned years in advance. The test aims to demonstrate the readiness of U.S. nuclear forces and reinforce confidence in the country’s nuclear deterrence amid rising global tensions. “These launches are scheduled years in advance on a quarterly basis, and there is often one in early November. The election had nothing to do with its scheduling,” an Air Force Global Strike Command Public Affairs representative told the Lompoc Record, a local newspaper near Vandenberg in Lompoc, California. The ICBM, capable of exceeding 15,000 mph and reaching global targets within 30 minutes, will travel 4,200 miles from California to Kwajalein Atoll in about 22 minutes. This test occurs amid rising concerns over potential conflicts with Russia and China, both major threats to U.S. security. The Minuteman III, in service for over 50 years, will be replaced by the LGM-35A Sentinel ICBM by 2029. The U.S. Air Force calls the Sentinel a cost-effective solution for a secure land-based nuclear deterrent, expected to remain in use until 2075. The tests come shortly after North Korea’s recent ballistic missile launch and reports of North Korean troops active in Ukraine for the first time. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that the U.S. and Russia are on the verge of direct military conflict.
