by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – The persecution of Christians worldwide is intensifying, a new report by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) shows. Based in Germany, ACN issues a bi-yearly report titled “The Persecuted and Forgotten?” on the conditions facing Christians in 18 countries where believers in Jesus are understood to be particularly vulnerable. In its The Persecuted and Forgotten? report 2022-2024 ACN asserts as a key finding that “the epicentre of militant Islamist violence” has now moved from the Middle East to Africa. “In parts of Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Mozambique and elsewhere, Christians were terrorised by extreme violence,” ACN says in its report. “In Burkina Faso, more than two million people – about 10 percent of the country’s population – have been displaced because of the ongoing Islamist insurgency.” Noting the roles of authoritarian regimes in the persecution of Christians, ACN states that in the last two years, the governments of China, Eritrea, India, and Iran, have “ramped up repressive measures.” In particular, ACN says: “State and non-state actors increasingly weaponised existing and new legislation, criminalising acts deemed disrespectful to the state religion as a means of oppressing Christians and other minority religious groups.” “In China, it is estimated that people imprisoned by the Chinese Communist Party ranges from the low thousands to over 10,000, ACN says. “In Eritrea, as of June 2024, around 400 Christians are imprisoned – without trial – just because of their faith,” ACN reports. “In India, 720 attacks or other incidents of persecution against Christians were reported in 2023, up from 599 the year previous. Iran, cases of Christians detained in Iran rose from 59 in 2021 to 166 in 2023.” “There were increased threats to Christian children especially girls, who suffered abduction, sexual violence, forced marriage and forced conversion,” ACN added. Other countries highlighted in the report as violating Christians’ human rights include Syria, Myanmar, Iraq, Pakistan, North Korea, and Saudi Arabia. Friend, have the heart of God! John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. For the next week or so we'll be looking closely at the life of Jonah the prophet. Jonah was told to "preach against the city of Nineveh", that was in the ancient kingdom of Assyria. Nineveh was a major city on the banks of the Tigris River about 500 miles north and east of where Jonah was; located on a contemporary map in modern Iraq, about 300 miles north of Baghdad. Archaeologists have found the ruins of ancient Nineveh right outside the Iraqi city of Mosul. When God said Nineveh was wicked, he wasn’t kidding. Nineveh was the capital of Assyria, the most powerful empire in the world in that day. The Assyrians had a reputation for cruelty that is hard for us to fathom. Their specialty was brutality of a gross and disgusting kind. When their armies captured a city or country, unspeakable atrocities would occur. Things like skinning people alive, decapitation, mutilation, ripping out the tongues, making a pyramid of human heads, piercing the chin with a rope and forcing prisoners to live in kennels like dogs. Ancient records from Assyria boast of this kind of cruelty as a badge of courage and power. Sad to say, the saying – "History repeats itself", truly fits in this case! So we ought to remember this context when we consider God's command to Jonah, and the prophet's response. Suppose God spoke to you today, "Go and preach the gospel to the Islamic State! Or go and preach to the Taliban! " Think you might respond, "Ahem God – they're terrorists! Let's nuke 'em; send 'em right where they belong!" But the heart of God is merciful. He wants to bring people to repentance so He can forgive, rather than bring judgment. He desires to save...even the most wicked and hardened individuals! Friend, so here's what I think: There’s a little Jonah in all of us and a whole lot of Jonah in most of us. We're praying for the Christians fleeing Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, and Turkey – but what about the wicked terrorists who are killing, torturing, and persecuting them? Do you have an "Assyrian" in your life? Is someone truly worthy of your hatred? Rather than pray for him, you'd be glad for him to meet God face to face today? Our Heavenly Father rebuked Jonah the prophet for his own hardness of heart and lack of compassion. So the story of Jonah is about the heart of God, who desires all men to be saved. He wants us to have the same heart. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Israel’s “National Day of Mourning” over the October 7, 2023, massacre was marred by “a terrorist attack” that reportedly killed one and injured dozens, while the army said six soldiers died after combat in Lebanon and Gaza. There was no time for Israel to peacefully grieve over the victims of the worst attacks against Jews since the Holocaust, or Shoah, for some 1,200 people killed by Hamas. For Israel, the day began with emergency services rushing to the scene where a truck rammed into pedestrians at a bus stop in Ramat Hasharon, an affluent city located on Israel’s central coastal strip. Some 33 people were wounded to various degrees, “with one succumbing to his wounds,” following the attack, said Israeli emergency medical service Magen David Adom (MDA) on Sunday. The driver was detained, officials said. It was not immediately clear what motivated the driver, but there have been several terror attacks linked to Islamic extremists since the Israel-Hamas war began. Separately, the army confirmed that five Israeli reservists in the 8207 battalion of the Alon brigade were killed on Saturday in South Lebanon after the force was caught by surprise by three Hezbollah fighters hiding in a building. Another soldier, who was injured in combat in Gaza earlier this month, also passed away, the army said Sunday. SOLDIERS NAMED Those killed in Lebanon were named as Captain Avraham Yosef Goldberg, 43, from Jerusalem; Master Sergeant Gilad Elmaliach, 30, from J; Jerusalem; Captain Amit Chayut, 29, from Haifa; and Major Eliav Amram Abitbol, 36, from Eitan. Later, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that Sergeant Major Shaul Moyal, 47, from Karnei Shomron, was also killed in the incident while serving in the 8207 reservist battalion. Also on Sunday, the IDF announced the death of Staff Sergeant Malachi Yehuda Harari, 22, from Even Shmuel, who died from wounds while fighting Hamas in north Gaza. Four soldiers and an officer were severely wounded in the incident that killed the five, and nine others were lightly and moderately wounded, the IDF explained. Their deaths came amid mounting concern about the mounting death toll of Israeli troops as the nation fights at numerous fronts. By late Sunday, at least 771 Israeli soldiers were known to have been killed, including 360 inside the Gaza Strip, since Hamas’ deadly attacks on the Jewish nation country on October 7, 2023. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News KYIV/BUDAPEST (Worthy News) – On the day that Pope Francis prayed that “the escalation stops,” news emerged that Russian attacks killed and injured civilians in widely separated parts of Ukraine, including children. More suffering was expected as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed Russia plans to send North Korean troops into battle against his nation. https://www.worthynews.com/wordpressimages/2024/10/WorthyNewsRadioOct27.mp3 Ahead of their expected arrival, search and rescuers were sifting through destroyed buildings following a Russian missile strike over the weekend in Ukraine’s central city of Dnipro. Authorities say at least five people were killed here, including a 14-year-old girl, adding to the many victims for a nation that is now in its third year of a devastating war A Russian glide bomb reportedly also killed one person and injured three on Saturday in Kostiantynivka, near the frontline in the Donetsk region. Elsewhere, officials said Russian shelling killed two people in a small town west of the southern city of Kherson. Even Kyiv wasn’t safe, with local officials noting that a Russian drone strike killed a teenager during a night-time barrage on the Ukrainian capital that lasted for hours. The intensified bombings come at a time when the United Nations refugee agency, UNHCR, says over 14.6 million people in Ukraine – 40 percent of Ukraine’s total population – “require urgent humanitarian support.” Among them are more than 3.5 million people internally displaced by the full-scale war. Over 6.5 million refugees from Ukraine have been recorded globally. More suffering Yet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy fears more hardship is on the way, warning that Russia seeks to send North Korean troops into battle against his country. He said Ukrainian intelligence had determined that “the first North Korean military will be used by Russia in combat zones” between Sunday and Monday and that the deployment was “an obvious escalating move by Russia.” While they were apparently on their way, Russia’s defense ministry said its forces had taken control of another settlement in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region, where it has made advances in recent months. The ministry also claimed its air defenses brought down 51 Ukrainian drones over four regions near the border. But Russia has struggled to push Ukrainian forces out of its Kursk border region after an incursion almost three months ago. While finance ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) nations vowed on Saturday to step up efforts to prevent Russia from avoiding sanctions, and more Western weapons are transported to Ukraine, there have been growing calls to end Europe’s deadliest armed conflict since the Second World War. Pope Francis urged prayers for those suffering, including children. Yet despite his Sunday appeal, it remained unclear when and how this war will end despite a growing humanitarian crisis. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News GAZA CITY/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Israel woke up grieving as the Jewish nation began its national day of mourning, marking the 1st anniversary of the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre on Sunday, just hours after the Israeli military targeted Hamas in Gaza in deadly air strikes. The government approved the “National Day of Mourning” on the Hebrew calendar in mid-October 2024 for a one-year commemoration. As the massacre of 1,200 people, including babies and raped women, occurred on the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah, during which state ceremonies are not held, the day of mourning was postponed to appear on Sunday, October 27, Israeli sources said. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi published an official letter saying, “Today, we honor the memory of those who fell on the day the war broke out and throughout this year of fighting.” The mourning began after Israeli strikes on northern Gaza killed at least 22 people, the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza claimed early Sunday. WOMEN, CHILDREN It said that 11 women and two children were among those killed in the strikes late Saturday in the northern town of Beit Lahiya. There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military, but it recently announced it was targeting regrouped Hamas fighters. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also accused Hamas of hiding among civilians to use them as human shields. Hamas-rum authorities say some 43,000 Palestinians were killed in the Israel-Hamas in Gaza, but it does not differentiate between combatants and civilians. Israel says about half of those reported killed were “terrorists” of Iran-backed Hamas. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News BEIRUT/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Smoke billowed over the Lebanese capital Beirut’s southern suburbs early Sunday after Israeli airstrikes amid ongoing clashes between Hezbollah and Israeli forces, footage seen by Worthy News showed. The Hezbollah-run channel Al-Manar reported on the Israeli strikes, saying that the Jrwidh nation had struck Beruit’s suburbs, along with the areas of Baalbek, Zrariyeh, and Al-Jamous. The attacks came some two hours after residents of the southern suburbs were urged to leave their homes by Israel’s military, which targets Iran-backed Hezbollah, viewed as a terrorist group by Israel and most of its allies. Israel carried out several air strikes in the area last week, and over the weekend, when Israel struck Beirut’s suburbs and an area near the border with Syria, killing three journalists and injuring three others, Worthy News reported. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) said that “At about 3 a.m. [local time] on [Friday] October 25, an airstrike hit a compound housing 18 journalists from multiple media outlets in south Lebanon’s Hasbaya area, killing pro-Hezbollah Al-Mayadeen TV’s camera operator Ghassan Najjar, broadcast engineer Mohammed Reda, and Hezbollah-owned Al-Manar TV’s camera operator Wissam Kassem.” The three injured were reported to be camera operator Hassan Hoteit and assistant camera operator Zakaria Fadel of the media production company Isol and Al Jazeera camera operator Ali Mortada, the CPJ said in a statement obtained by Worthy News. “CPJ is deeply outraged by yet another deadly Israeli airstrike on journalists, this time hitting a compound hosting 18 members of the press in south Lebanon,” said CPJ Program Director Carlos Martinez de la Serna in New York. TARGETING JOURNALISTS “Deliberately targeting journalists is a war crime under international law. This attack must be independently investigated, and the perpetrators must be held to account,” the advocacy group added. Israel’s military has denied deliberately targeting journalists and accuses Iran’s proxies, such as Hezbollah and Hamas, of hiding among civilians to use them as “human shields.” Israel also says it fights at some seven fronts for its existence and wants to prevent another October 7, 2023 massacre when 1,200 people were killed in the Jewish nation by Hamas. That’s why Israel’s military said it blew up a tunnel on Saturday belonging to Hezbollah’s Radwan Forces for their “Conquer the Galilee” plan, aimed at killing more people than Hamas did on October 7, last year. In the hideout, IDF troops located bunk beds, storage cabinets, food supplies, infrastructure for long-term stays, a large amount of equipment, weapons, and launch positions. “During these limited and localized ground operations in southern Lebanon, our troops also located four weapons storage facilities with rockets, mortars, [rocket-propelled grenades] RPGs, and more,” the IDF added. With tensions rising, sirens wailed in Israel’s Western and Upper Galilee area, where two drones were identified crossing from Lebanon “and were intercepted over open areas,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said early Sunday. Yet the incident underscored broader concerns that clashes between Israel and Hezbollah will continue despite international calls for a ceasefire. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News TBILISI/BUDAPEST (Worthy News) – The Georgian opposition says results showing the ruling pro-Russian party of Georgia’s most powerful man winning the parliamentary elections mounted to a “constitutional coup.” Georgian Dream’s billionaire founder Bidzina Ivanishvili, the opposition, and foreign diplomats viewed Saturday’s vote as crucial to deciding whether Georgia would move closer to the West or back toward Moscow. The central election commission said the Georgian Dream received 53 percent of the ballots, based on a count of more than 70 percent of the vote. The outcome dramatically differed from exit polls conducted by Western pollsters, and the pro-Western opposition said the vote was “stolen” from the Georgian people. “We do not accept the results of these falsified elections,” added Tina Bokuchava, head of the United National Movement. Another opposition leader, Nika Gvaramia, said Georgian Dream had mounted a “constitutional coup.” Voters reportedly turned out in big numbers on Saturday in the strategically vital South Caucasus state bordering Russia, and there were numerous reports of vote violations and violence outside polling stations. Footage seen by Worthy News showed opposition official Azat Karimov, 35, hospitalized with facial wounds after he was beaten up in the town of Marneuli. MARKING SETBACK If confirmed, however, the results would mark a setback for those Georgians hoping to foster closer ties with the European Union and the NATO military alliance amid Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine. Georgian Dream’s billionaire founder Ivanishvili, the opposition, and foreign diplomats viewed Saturday’s vote as crucial to deciding whether Georgia would move closer to the West or back toward Moscow. Observers saw Saturday’s vote as the most crucial since Georgians backed independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. Criticized for his perceived authoritarian style, Ivanishvili has become more outspoken in anti-Western rhetoric. Critics say that his party, which ruled the nation for 12 years, is increasingly bringing Georgia into Russia’s orbit. Although Georgia was made a candidate to join the European Union last December, the EU has since frozen the move due to “democratic backsliding,” especially a Russian-style “foreign influence” law targeting groups receiving Western funding. The Soviet Union, or USSR, may have ceased to exist more than three decades ago, but Moscow still considers much of the old Soviet empire its backyard and Russia’s sphere of influence. Neighboring Russia still occupies 20 percent of Georgia’s territory after a five-day war in 2008. Georgian Dream has promised voters that it is still on course to join the EU. Yet, it has also accused the opposition of helping the West open a new front in Russia’s war in Ukraine. To its opponents, the Georgian Dream has become a nightmare. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News TEHRAN (Worthy News) – Tehran suggested Saturday that it may retaliate against Israel for pre-dawn Israeli air strikes targeting military sites that “killed at least four military personnel” and “damaged radar systems in Iran.” “I think we’ve shown that our determination to defend ourselves knows no limits,” Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said. He made the remarks on the official website of Iran’s frail 85-year-old Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who is reportedly seriously ill. Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency quoted sources as saying that Iran is ready to respond to any “aggression” from Israel, adding that the Jewish nation will “undoubtedly face a proportional reaction for any action it takes.” Yet complicating matters for Iran is that Ayatollah Khamenei, who was reportedly moved to a secure location to avoid a possible Israeli assassination, is facing a quiet battle over his succession. There is internal disquiet over the possibility that Ayatollah Khamenei’s second son, Mojtaba, 55, might succeed him, The New York Times newspaper reported. The powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps will have a significant say and is considered more willing to confront Israel. Israel has warned Iran not to retaliate against its operations, which showed that Israeli fighter jets could freely penetrate Iranian airspace without being shot down. SHAH BIRTHDAY The Israeli military chose a symbolic date for what was described as its largest operation against Iran to date, code-named “Days of Repentance.” The “Days of Repentance” came on the birthday of the late Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran, who was dethroned during the Islamic Revolution 1979. A year later, the war with Iraq broke out. That was the last time, until early Saturday, that Iran was attacked by combat aircraft. Israel’s operation involved over 100 warplanes, spanned more than 1,200 miles (2,000 kilometers) and targeted around 20 military sites, including missile, drone, and radar installations, Worthy News reported earlier. Israeli planes involved in the action returned – as far is known – without a scratch. Experts say the attacks were “painful” for the Iranian army and the country’s Revolutionary Guard as they reportedly mobilized for an Israeli attack. Worthy News established that Israel deemed the strikes successful despite plans being leaked ahead of time on the social media messaging platform Telegram. FBI INVESTIGATION The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said it was probing a leak of highly classified documents that appear to show Israel’s plans to attack Iran. These documents were prepared by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), which analyzes images and information collected by American spy satellites. The NGA is part of the United States intelligence community and conducts sensitive work supporting clandestine and military operations. U.S. President Joe Biden is “deeply concerned” about the leak of documents that contain the Washungton’sassessment of Israeli plans to attack Iran, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said. The documents, marked top secret, were shareable within the Five Eyes intelligence alliance of the U.S., Britain, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, CBS. Israel’s leadership says it ordered the strikes in response to Iran firing some 200 missiles toward Israel earlier this month and Tehran’s support for proxies targeting the Jewish nation. by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – Chinese espionage activities are on the rise, with the Communist regime systematically targeting overseas dissidents in the U.S. and increasing cases of sensitive information theft and intelligence gathering, according to a House subcommittee report. The recent report titled “China Threat Snapshot” by the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence reveals that Chinese Communist Party (CPP)-related threats to the homeland have proliferated in recent years. It is increasingly evident that China’s oppressive reach extends far beyond its borders to actively oppose democracy, silence dissent, and conduct espionage against the United States. “The Chinese Communist Party is not satisfied with destroying freedom and repressing its citizens within its own borders. Beijing has continually encroached upon American sovereignty to spy, intimidate, and harass not only defectors, but even American citizens,” Chairman Mark Green (R-Tn) stated. “To be clear, our adversary is not the Chinese people, but the threat that comes from the tyrannical regime that oppresses its own people, commits genocide, censors speech, and seeks to undermine representative government. It is important we remain clear-eyed about the threat the CCP poses to the security of the American people so we are prepared to counter its malign influence at every turn.” The report detailed that federal authorities have recorded over 55 cases of China-related espionage across 20 states between January 2021 and this month. “The government of China and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) seriously threaten the economic well-being, homeland security, and democratic values of the United States,” the report stated. It added, “Cases of Chinese espionage throughout the U.S. have expanded rapidly with Chinese nationals and non-Chinese individuals acting on behalf of the People’s Republic of China allegedly committing a variety of forms of espionage including but not limited to, government, military, and economic espionage.” The report stated that between February 2021 and October 2023, over 55 CCP-related espionage cases involving the transmission of sensitive military information, theft of trade secrets, execution of transnational repression schemes, and obstruction of justice were identified in 20 states. Approximately 80% of economic espionage prosecutions were linked to actions benefiting the Chinese government, and about 60% of all trade secret theft cases were carried out by Chinese agents. According to statistics provided by the subcommittee, China’s theft of billions of dollars worth of U.S. intellectual property has had a profound economic impact on American families. This large-scale intellectual property theft is estimated to have cost each American household between $4,000 and $6,000. by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – Israel has concluded its most extensive military operation against Iran to date, code-named “Days of Repentance.” The operation involved over 100 combat aircraft, spanned more than 1,200 miles (2,000 km) and targeted around 20 military sites, including missile, drone, and radar installations. Israel conducted a three-hour airstrike on Iranian targets early Saturday, 25 days after Tehran’s October ballistic missile attack. The operation concluded with Israel confirming the safe return of all aircraft. For weeks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had signaled that Israel would retaliate following Iran’s missile assault on October 1, the day before the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah), also known as Rosh HaShanah. The counterstrike had been in preparation for nearly a month despite a severe breach of U.S. intelligence revealing Israel’s military plans. The leaked documents disclosed specific strategies and munitions, with speculation that the leak aimed to disrupt Israel’s operation ahead of the November presidential election. As Operation “Days of Repentance” unfolded, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari announced, “In response to months of continuous attacks from the regime in Iran against the State of Israel—right now the Israel Defense Forces is conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran.” He added, “The regime in Iran and its proxies in the region have been relentlessly attacking Israel since October 7th—on seven fronts—including direct attacks from Iranian soil.” Israel’s operation began with strikes on radar targets in Syria, intended to “blind” Iran’s defenses, and quickly expanded into a broader offensive targeting military sites across Iran. The attack deployed F-35 jet fighters, known for their radar-evading capabilities, to eliminate air-defense batteries in Syria and Iraq, clearing the path for additional waves of sorties. In total, the strikes targeted over 20 locations throughout Iran. Israel destroyed several of Iran’s Russian-made S-300 air defense batteries, according to the IDF. While Axios and The New York Times reported strikes on Iran’s drone production facilities, the IDF stated its primary focus was on targeting ballistic missile production. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the operation “struck missile manufacturing facilities used to produce the missiles that Iran fired at the State of Israel over the last year.” “Simultaneously, the IDF struck surface-to-air missile arrays and additional Iranian aerial capabilities that were intended to restrict Israel’s aerial freedom of operation in Iran,” the IDF said in a statement. One of the targeted sites was the Parchin military facility, known for its role in the development of Iran’s nuclear program, according to the U.N. atomic agency. Fabian Hinz, a researcher at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, told The Wall Street Journal that four buildings hit in Parchin were connected to three solid-propellant facilities for missile production. However, Israel did not target Iran’s nuclear program, according to the chief of the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog. Rafael Grossi confirmed Saturday night that Israel’s airstrikes had no impact on Iran’s nuclear facilities. “Iran’s nuclear facilities have not been impacted,” Grossi stated on social media. He added that International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors remained safe and could continue their work. “I call for prudence and restraint from actions that could jeopardize the safety and security of nuclear and other radioactive materials,” Grossi said. According to The Wall Street Journal, Israel also warned Iran through Arab and European intermediaries, outlining its intended targets and cautioning that any Iranian retaliation would prompt even stronger Israeli responses. Following the strike, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency announced that a “proportionate response” to Israel’s actions would follow. The Pentagon confirmed that Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin spoke with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to receive updates on the IDF’s strikes in Iran. Pentagon Press Secretary Pat Ryder stated that Austin “reaffirmed the ironclad commitment of the United States to Israel’s security and right to self-defense.” The White House characterized Israel’s strikes on military targets in Iran as “an exercise of self-defense” following Tehran’s ballistic missile attack earlier this month. U.S. National Security Council spokesman Sean Savett said the “targeted strikes on military targets” were “an exercise of self-defense and in response to Iran’s ballistic missile attack against Israel on October 1.” Military analysts characterized Israel’s overwhelmingly successful operation against Iran as evidence of its substantial military and technological superiority, enabling it to operate freely within Iranian airspace. Many now anticipate a final strike on Iran’s nuclear program following the U.S. presidential election on November 6. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News TEHRAN/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Israel says it struck military sites in Iran early on Saturday in retaliation for Tehran’s attacks earlier this month when the Islamic Republic fired some 200 missiles at the Jewish nation. Several explosions were heard in the capital, Tehran, nearby Karaj, and Damascus in Syria. There were no immediate reports of casualties. Footage reviewed by Worthy News showed blasts seen near Tehran amid ongoing Israeli attacks on Iran. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant was directing the attacks from a secure complex in Israel Defense Forces (IDF) headquarters in Tel Aviv, Israeli officials said. Footage obtained by Worthy News also showed the Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Herzi Halevi, commanding the strike on Iran from the Israeli Air Force underground command center in Camp Rabin with the Commanding Officer of the Israeli Air Force, Major General Tomer Bar. Iranian media reported at least two waves of multiple explosions over more than two hours in the capital and at nearby military bases after authorities initially played down the attacks. There were reports of widespread internet outages across Iran as the attacks continued. ISRAEL MILITARY CONFIRMS As explosions were heard, Israel’s military confirmed the attacks in a statement. “In response to months of continuous attacks from the regime in Iran against the State of Israel – right now the Israel Defense Forces is conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran,” it said. Israel has the right and duty to respond to attacks from Tehran and its proxies, which have included missile strikes launched from Iranian soil, the military added. Two Israeli officials said the strikes on Iran were not targeting nuclear or oil facilities, but the government did not yet confirm that. U.S. President Joe Biden had warned that Washington, Israel’s main backer and supplier of arms, would not support a strike on Tehran’s nuclear sites and said Israel should consider alternatives to attacking Iran’s oil fields. As news of the strikes broke, international flights began diverting around Iran, flight-tracking data showed. Yet besides Iran, Syria’s state news agency SANA also reported “barrages of missiles from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan and Lebanese territories targeting some military sites in the southern and central regions” of Syria early Saturday. It said Syria’s air defenses shot some missiles down, with no information immediately available on casualties. Israel says Iran-backed proxies and personnel are also based in Syria. BALLISTIC MISSILES LAUNCHED Iran launched two ballistic missile attacks on Israel in recent months amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip that began with the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. That initial attack in southern Israel killed some 1,200 people, including babies and women raped by Hamas fighters, while 250 persons were kidnapped and brought to Gaza. In the time since, more than 42,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, according to Hamas-run authorities who do not differentiate between civilians and combatants. Israel maintains that nearly half of the reported deaths are comprised of “Hamas terrorists.” The latest strikes by Israel came as it also continued its ground operation in Lebanon, where it targets Hezbollah. The Iran-backed group had fired a barrage of rockets, forcing tens of thousands of people to flee their homes in northern Israel. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News MANILA (Worthy News) – Tropical Storm Trami in the Philippines has left at least 82 dead and tens of thousands displaced due to heavy rains and flooding, authorities said Friday. Footage reviewed by Worthy News showed that rescue efforts are challenging in the hardest-hit areas, including the Bicol and Batangas provinces, due to difficult accessibility and thick mud. A Christian worker from Bicol, Meriam Comia, told Worthy News that despite the devastation, “God is so good, ” adding that a brother managed to reach a shelter for evacuees in time. Water was partly flooding her home, but it was still standing. “Due to the storm, I could not reach my workplace, but I am happy to be alive,” she said. “But many people died.” Officials said the storm brought two months’ worth of rain in just two days, causing widespread devastation and prompting the evacuation of nearly 320,000 people. But the onslaught may not be over: State forecasters raised the rare possibility that the storm — the 11th and one of the deadliest to hit the Philippines this year — could make a U-turn next week. Trami made landfall Thursday on the northeast coast of Luzon, the country’s most populous island, and caused widespread flooding and landslides. The Bicol Peninsula, at the southeastern end of Luzon, was worst-hit, with floodwaters chasing people and their pets to the second story of their homes. MANY ON ROOFS “Many are still trapped on the roofs of their homes and asking for help,” Andre Dizon, policy director for the hard-hit Bicol region, added in separately published remarks.“We hope the floods will subside today since the rain has stopped.” But accessibility remained a significant issue for rescuers Friday, especially in Bicol, President Ferdinand Marcos said. “That’s the problem we’re having with Bicol. It’s so difficult to penetrate,” he said, adding that the heavily saturated ground led to “landslides in areas that didn’t have landslides before.” However, as Tropical Storm Trami blew away from the northwestern Philippines on Friday, a Philippine provincial police chief said Friday that 49 people were killed, mostly in landslides set off by Trami in Batangas province south of Manila, the capital. That reportedly brought the overall death toll from the storm to at least 82, but the toll was likely to rise fast. Eleven other villagers remain missing in Batangas, Col. Jacinto Malinao Jr. told reporters from the lakeside town of Talisay, where he stood beside a villager whose wife and child were buried in the deep mound of mud, boulders, and trees. Experts are divided over what causes the high death toll, with several blaming it on climate change while others also mention intense building and a lack of adequate infrastructure as reasons. Due to its location in the Pacific typhoon belt, prone to extreme weather, the Philippines experiences an average of 20 tropical storms and typhoons yearly. In 2013, Typhoon Haiyan killed more than 7,300 people. The post Scores Killed As Tropical Storm Hits Philippines appeared first on Worthy Christian News. View the full article

By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News BEIRUT/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Several journalists have been killed and injured in an Israeli air strike overnight in southeastern Lebanon near the border with Syria, Israeli and Lebanese sources said Friday. Lebanese state media said Friday that three journalists were killed in the Israeli air strike overnight in southeastern Lebanon. “Our correspondent in Zahle reported the death of three journalists in an Israeli raid on Hasbaya,” Lebanon’s National News Agency reported, adding that “Israeli warplanes raided at 3:30 am [local time] on the Lebanese-Syrian border.” Al Jazeera network reporter Imran Khan, who is staying in the struck area where journalists are being housed in villas, said: “We are hearing that three people have been killed – two cameramen and a technician.” Arabic media reported that the attack came after “Israel killed” three soldiers from the Lebanese Armed Forces and just over one year “after Israeli tank fire killed Reuters journalist Issam Abdallah and wounded several others,” also in southern Lebanon. Israel has denied deliberately targeting journalists but says some stayed in active combat zones. It also says it targets Hezbollah facilities and warns civilians to keep a distance from intended strikes there, but Lebanese officials claim numerous people have died. News about the killed journalists came shortly after smoke billowed above the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, late Thursday following Israeli air strikes that the Israeli military said targeted Hezbollah sites. HEZBOLLAH INFRASTRUCTURE Lebanon’s government said at least 19 people were killed in Israeli attacks on Lebanon over the past 24 hours. The Israeli military said it also suffered casualties, with five soldiers killed and seven seriously wounded in clashes with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon Israel said it targeted the infrastructure of the Iran-backed Hezbollah group and had warned residents to stay away from clearly announced areas. Footage reviewed by Worthy News showed smoke in Beirut’s southern suburbs that were hit, as seen from the Baabda area. Ahead of the strikes, IDF Arabic Spokesperson Avichay Adraee had issued evacuation warnings to residents of Chouaifet El Aamroussieh and Haret Hreik, south of Beirut. “You are located near Hezbollah facilities and interests, against which the IDF will operate in the near future.” He advised residents to remain at a distance of no less than 500 meters (547 yards), attaching a photo marking the location of the intended strike in red. Earlier, IDF said it struck several weapons storage and manufacturing facilities belonging to Hezbollah near the Beirut suburb of Dahieh. IDF STRIKES The IDF noted that the sites hit were built under and inside civilian buildings, which it said was a part of Hezbollah’s “systematic abuse of civilian infrastructure, endangering the civilian population in the area.” Their strikes came as the IDF published details about an underground hideout belonging to Hezbollah’s Radwan Forces for their “Conquer the Galilee” plan, aimed at killing more people than Hamas did on October 7, last year. “Hezbollah has openly declared that it plans to carry out its own October 7th massacre on Israel’s northern border on an even larger scale. The IDF spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, confirmed that they call this plan “Conquer the Galilee.” “For years, Hezbollah has been planning to do in northern Israel what Hamas did in southern Israel on October 7th: invade Israel, infiltrate civilian communities, and massacre innocent civilians,” he said. ONGOING OPERATION The military says its ongoing ground operation and airstrikes in Lebanon are to ensure that “Hezbollah can never carry out such an attack and to enable all 60,000 Israelis to safely return to their homes in northern Israel.” It also continued operations against Hezbollah ally Hamas in Gaza. Hamas-linked officials said Israeli tanks attacked northern Gaza’s Kamal Adwan Hospital, causing severe damage to the facility’s intensive care unit as it struggles with an influx of wounded. An Israeli army strike on “the besieged Jabalia refugee camp killed a large number of people,” Hamas-run authorities said in what the Gaza Civil Defense Agency called a “major massacre.” Israel has denied targeting civilians in Gaza but accused Hamas of hiding among civilians. It says it seeks to destroy Hamas and hopes Western nations will continue to support its efforts. In addition to the U.S., new figures showed that in Europe, Germany authorized more than $100 million in military exports to Israel in the last three months. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News GAZA/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Israel’s military said Thursday it killed Hamas Commander Mohammad Abu Itiwi, who participated in the October 7, 2023, assault on southern Israel while working for the U.N. aid agency in the Gaza Strip. He was eliminated in a joint operation by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israel’s domestic intelligence service, Shin Bet, Israeli officials said, apparently in Gaza. Itiwi’s name was included in a list of at least nine employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) with ties to Hamas and other armed groups, Israeli officials said. The U.N., after an investigation, admitted in August that nine UNRWA staff were possibly involved in the Oct. 7 attacks and fired them. Itiwi, a “Nukhba commander in the Al Bureij Battalion of Hamas’s Central Camps Brigade,” was directly involved in the murder and abduction of Israeli civilians, Israel’s military announced Thursday. About 1,200 people, including babies and the women they raped, were killed by Hamas fighters, who also abducted some 251 persons, according to Israeli authorities. LEADING ATTACK “The terrorist [Itiwi] led the attack on the bomb shelter on Route 232 in the area of Re’im in southern Israel,” October 7 last year, Israeli sources said. That violence, described as the worst atrocities against Jews since the Holocaust, or Shoah, triggered Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza. Nearly 43,000 Palestinians have since been killed, according to Hamas-run authorities who do not differentiate between combatants and civilians. Israel says nearly half of those reported killed are “Hamas terrorists,” while ordinary residents who were killed or wounded have been used by Hamas as “human shields.” The IDF explained that “Throughout the Israel-Hamas War, Abu Itiwi directed and carried out numerous attacks on IDF soldiers operating in the Gaza Strip.” There was no immediate comment by Hamas, which has been dramatically reduced in strength following numerous high-profile assassinations by Israel. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News DOHA/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Israel released documents seized in Gaza, accusing Al Jazeera of collaborating with terrorist organizations. The documents reveal instances where Hamas advised the network not to criticize it and coordinated efforts to hide failed rocket launches. Al Jazeera, headquartered in Qatar, denies claims that six of its journalists are connected to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). Israel’s military said that intelligence gathered from the Gaza Strip showed that Anas Al-Sharif, Alaa Salama, Hossam Shabat, Ashraf Saraj, Ismail Abu Amr, and Talal Aruki “are all affiliated with the military wings of either Hamas or PIJ.” Ismail Abu Amr was injured several months ago in Gaza by an Israeli attack in a period that Al Jazeera denied his membership in Hamas, several sources said. However, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that documents recovered by the IDF showed “this was untrue” and that he had links to Hamas, viewed as a terrorist organization by Israel’s government and most of its allies. Some of the documents “include personnel tables, terrorist training courses, phone books, and salary documents for terrorists,” Israeli defense sources said. The IDF said this “unequivocally proves that they function as military terrorist operatives of the terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip.” They added that these documents prove that the exposed Al Jazeera journalists “are part of Hamas’s military wing” and its “propaganda war against Israel.” ‘FABRICATED EVIDENCE’ Al Jazeera said that it “categorically rejects” the “Israeli occupation forces’ portrayal of our journalists as terrorists and denounces their use of fabricated evidence.” The “Al Jazeera Media Network vehemently condemns the recent unfounded allegations made by Israeli occupation forces against its journalists operating in northern Gaza,” it said in a statement seen by Worthy News on Thursday. “The Network views these fabricated accusations as a blatant attempt to silence the few remaining journalists in the region, thereby obscuring the harsh realities of the war from audiences worldwide,” it added. Al Jazeera stressed that “these baseless claims follow” its recent “exposé of potential war crimes” allegedly committed by Israeli forces during the ongoing war against Hamas in Gaza. Israel has vehemently denied carrying out war crimes. Al Jazeera did not speak in its reaction about the Hamas October 7, 2023, attacks against Israel that sparked the war. Some 1,200 people were killed and hundreds kidnapped in what Israel called the “worst atrocities since the Holocaust,” also known as the Shoah. Yet the targeted “journalists have been steadfastly reporting from northern Gaza,” Al Jazeera said. The broadcaster added they served as “the sole international media presence documenting the unfolding humanitarian crisis resulting from Israel’s siege and bombardment of civilian populations.” PROFESSIONAL DUTIES The “journalists are merely fulfilling their professional duties, documenting and reporting on the devastating impact of the war on the [Gaza] Strip’s two million civilians.” Speaking in Doha on Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the Israeli accusation “clearly needs to be examined.” Blinken said, however, “We very much support the work of journalists in Gaza and everywhere else around the world, including in areas of conflict. He added that “far too many have lost their lives in Gaza.” He spoke during a joint news conference in Doha with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed Al Thani, who called state-sponsored Al Jazeera an “independent media institution run out of Doha.” The prime minister said, “We are very proud” of Al Jazeera, “an institution that has gained worldwide respect.” However, he said, “We expect that Al Jazeera will run at the highest international standards, and they are going to.” Al Thani said, “If there are any premises to these accusations, they are going to take care of the measures needed for their journalists.” BROADER CONCERNS While Qatar’s government pledged to examine possible links between Al Jazeera and Hamas, the network warned that the Israeli accusations are “part of a wider pattern of hostility towards Al Jazeera.” The broadcaster said it “fears these allegations may serve as a pretext for further violence against the journalists.” He said such violence would be “mirroring the tragic fates of other media professionals targeted and killed by Israeli occupation forces.” Israel has strongly denied targeting journalists and civilians. Israel’s government and military say “terrorists use civilians as human shields,” causing casualties among ordinary residents. More than 130 journalists have been killed in Gaza since the war broke out after the October 7, 2023, attacks, according to the Reporters Without Borders (RSF) group. by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News)— BRICS is rapidly expanding, an alliance of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. In January, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia joined the group, while Turkey—marking the first NATO member to express interest—along with Azerbaijan and Malaysia, formally applied for membership. Pakistan has also shown interest in joining. Collectively, BRICS now represents roughly half of the world’s population and accounts for 35% of global output. Facing unprecedented sanctions from the U.S. and its G-7 allies over the February 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Russia is striving to mitigate the economic impact. Putin urged BRICS nations to reduce reliance on the dollar as a global reserve currency by increasing trade in national currencies. Russia is actively encouraging more nations to join a new payment system designed as an alternative to SWIFT, which the West has used to impose sanctions on Russian officials. While Russia pushed an anti-Western agenda at the summit, Brazil, India, and South Africa promoted a more cooperative approach. Their focus is on reforming organizations like the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to better serve developing nations’ interests. Speaking Wednesday at the formal opening of the leaders’ summit in Russia’s Kazan, Putin stated that BRICS is “especially in demand in the current conditions, when truly dramatic changes are taking place in the world, and the process of forming a multipolar world is underway.” Later on Wednesday, Putin held separate meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iran’s Masoud Pezeshkian on the summit’s sidelines. Erdogan said the two countries are addressing cross-border payment issues. U.S. sanctions and the threat of secondary sanctions have disrupted transactions with China, Turkey, and others trading with Russia. Newly elected Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, addressing the BRICS summit, said, “Over more than three decades since the collapse of the bipolar system, it has become increasingly clear that, from the perspective of Western powers, peace, democracy, prosperity, and development can only be achieved through pathways defined by them.” “This monopolistic outlook has led to increased violence, war, and terrorism on one hand, and the unprecedented use of economic and political sanctions on the other.” In a pivotal move, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the summit to signal their hopes for a more harmonious relationship after decades of cross-border tensions. This gesture followed a recent agreement between China and India to resolve their four-year military standoff over the disputed Himalayan region. Friend, focus on God's message! Jonah 3:2,4,5 Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. So Jonah goes and begins to preach in this pagan city. His message is very simple. "Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown"(v. 4). That's it. That was his whole message. It's eight words in English; only 4 words in Hebrew. To be honest, I love short messages, and I love to give short messages, But I've never preached an eight-word message in my life. And a pretty depressing message if you ask me. None of this "Nineveh, God loves you..." or "Nineveh for Yeshua" or "Say Yes Nineveh." A message of impending judgment and nothing more. God says to Jonah – PREACH MY MESSAGE; simple, urgent, to the point. These days the message of salvation across the world so often removes a key word –"REPENT!" Whenever Yeshua (Jesus) preached – or John the Baptist – or any of the saints preached – it started with the word – REPENT! This is a critical point. There's apologetics, and witnessing of all kinds, according to wisdom and opportunity, but if we're going to preach, we MUST understand that we MUST preach HIS MESSAGE! And His Message begins with the word – REPENT! It’s not the way we would do it. If we were going to put together a "Nineveh for Yeshua" campaign, we would hire an advance team, get a PR man, put together an ad campaign, buy billboards, do a social media blitz, start a Facebook page, get our Twitter team going, make some "Nineveh for Yeshua" t-shirts, do some training, set up the buses, train the counselors, rent a stadium, buy some TV time, recruit the counselors, print the follow-up materials, set up home prayer meetings, arrange for simultaneous translations, rehearse the choir, and organize Operation Nivevah. We'd have to raise $3 million just to get started. Nah, Jonah skipped all of that. He just went to Nineveh looking half dead and gave his entirely negative 8-word sermon. And the people repented! Friend, Jonah was a "dead man." When God does that to you and me we won't have to say much either, "Repent, and believe the gospel"... 5 words will probably do it! But the message will almost certainly begin with the word -- "Repent"! Shabbat Shalom and have a great weekend! By Brett Rowland | The Center Square (Worthy News) – More than a quarter of Americans worry that civil war could be a consequence of this year’s presidential election. That’s according to polling for The Times in the United Kingdom. Some 27% of American adults were concerned about violence, according to a YouGov survey of 1,266 registered voters from Oct. 18-21. As former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris campaign across the country for control of the White House, violence has been on the mind of some Americans. So far, at least two people are accused of trying to assassinate Trump on the campaign trail. About 12% of survey respondents said they knew someone who might take up arms if they thought Trump was cheated out of the White House on Nov. 5. Another 5% said they knew someone who might if they thought Harris lost on account of fraud. The poll found 84% of U.S. voters said the country was more divided than a decade ago, with 5% saying it is less divided. In The Center Square’s Voters’ Voice Poll, voters said most of the blame for the two attempts to assassinate Trump during his campaign lies with the alleged shooters themselves, but they assign blame to other factors as well. Likely voters said the alleged shooters (46%) are responsible for the attempted assassinations. Voters also blamed general divisions in America (40%), overheated rhetoric from Democrats (33%) and lax U.S. Secret Service protection (29%), according to the results of The Center Square’s Voters’ Voice Poll, conducted in conjunction with Noble Predictive Insights. By Casey Harper | The Center Square (Worthy News) – U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., promoted a new website on Thursday that allows Americans to see if fraudulent actors have used their name to make illicit political donations to Democratic candidates. The site comes amid growing allegations that ActBlue, an online donation processor for Democrats, has received an influx of cash for Democratic candidates that, according to lawsuits and investigations, used the names of Americans who had no knowledge of the donations at all. “There’s now more evidence that illicit overseas donors are using the corrupt Democrat donor platform ActBlue to exploit campaign finance loopholes and make donations in the names of people without their knowledge,” Johnson wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “These are fraudulent, ILLEGAL practices that CANNOT be tolerated,” he added. Johnson posted the website in question, CheckMyDonation.org, which allows users to type in their name to see if it has been used to make a political donation. “Law enforcement is investigating a new form of identity theft called ‘straw donors’ or ‘smurfing,’ in which fraudsters use the identities of innocent victims to make political contributions to candidates,” the site reads. “CheckMyDonation.org is a free public service to identify potential victims.” The site cautions users to make sure the address and occupation, and not just the name, match up. Johnson’s post comes amid allegations that overseas donors have been making illegal donations using Americans’ information without their knowledge. The House Administrative Committee launched an investigation into ActBlue, which also faces a a lawsuit from a Republican strategist in Wisconsin who says his name was used to give $900 to Democrats without his knowledge or consent. Former Herman campaign staffer Mark Block reportedly said someone made 35 to the Kamala Harris’ campaign using his name, first reported by The New York Post. Both Virginia and Texas have opened investigations into ActBlue. On Monday, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton called on the Federal Election Commission to address the issue with new regulations. “Certain platforms appear to facilitate straw donor transactions, where a contributor disguises his identity by attributing his contribution to another, unaware person,” the petition said. As The Center Square previously reported, The Republican-led House Oversight Committee has also begun an investigation pointing to “reports of potentially fraudulent and illicit financial activity.” “These bad actors could include foreign nationals not lawfully admitted for permanent residence who are prohibited by statute from contributing to campaigns or political parties,” House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., said in a letter U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. ActBlue did not respond to a request for comment in time for publication. The post Americans Can Now Check If They Are Part of Political Donor Fraud appeared first on Worthy Christian News. By Bethany Blankley | The Center Square contributor (Worthy News) – Of the record 14 million illegal border crossers reported under the Biden-Harris administration, more than 1.62 million are from four Countries of Particular Concern (CPC): China, Cuba, Nicaragua and Russia. The U.S. State Department has designated CPCs for their policies of “systematic, ongoing, egregious violations of religious freedom,” which includes “torture, prolonged detention without charges, forced disappearance, or other flagrant denial of life, liberty, or security of persons.” U.S. designated CPCs include Burma, the People’s Republic of China, Cuba, Eritrea, Iran, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea), Nicaragua, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. The CPCs of Cuba, North Korea, and Iran are also designated State Sponsors of Terrorism (SST). U.S. Customs and Border Protection records nationality for every illegal border crosser but not all nationality data is published online. Of the 12 CPCs, CBP published apprehension and encounter data reported nationwide for four: China, Cuba, Nicaragua and Russia. Published data is from fiscal years 2021-2024; a fiscal year begins Oct. 1 and ends Sept. 30. CBP CPC data under the Biden-Harris administration excludes data from the first three months of fiscal 2021 under the previous administration. It also excludes gotaway data, those who illegally entered and evaded capture, and those released through several parole programs. More than 176,000 Chinese illegal border crossers Under the Biden-Harris administration, the greatest number of Chinese illegal border crossers was reported nationwide in U.S. history of 176,038. That’s up from nearly 160,000 The Center Square reported in June. The greatest number was reported in fiscal 2024 of 78,701, up from 52,700 in fiscal 2023, 27,756 in fiscal 2022 and 16,881 for nine months in fiscal 2021. Republican members of Congress have expressed alarm about national security threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party, Chinese intelligence outposts operating in the U.S., Chinese and other illegal border crossers breaching U.S. military bases, Democratic vice presidential candidate Minn. Gov. Tim Walz’s alleged ties to the CCP, among other concerns. The U.S. House also passed bills to counter the CCP threat. Nearly 786,000 Cuban illegal border crossers Under the Biden-Harris administration, the greatest number of Cuban illegal border crossers was reported nationwide in U.S. history of more than 786,000. The most were reported in fiscal 2022 of 224,607, followed by 217,615 in fiscal 2024, 200,287 in fiscal 2023 and 33,876 in nine months in fiscal 2021. They total 676,385. At least 110,000 inadmissable Cubans were released into the U.S. through a CHNV Parole Program, according to CBP data. Republican members of Congress have demanded answers about Chinese spies operating out of Cuba targeting Americans, nonimmigrant visas expanded to Cubans “endanger[ing] our national security,” non vetting of SST diplomats, among other concerns. More than 536,000 Nicaraguan illegal border crossers Under the Biden-Harris administration, the greatest number of Nicaraguan illegal border crossers was reported nationwide in U.S. history of more than 536,000. The greatest number was reported in fiscal 2022 of 164,600, followed by 138,729 in fiscal 2023, 91,049 in fiscal 2024 and 49,254 in nine months in fiscal 2021, according to the data. They total 443,632. At least 93,000 inadmissible Nicaraguans were released into the country through the CHNV Parole program, according to CBP data. Both Cuban and Nicaraguan nationals have been released into the country by historic proportions due to a new CHNV parole program created by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. CHNV parolees are also being arrested nationwide for committing violent crimes against Americans, The Center Square reported. Nearly 127,000 Russian illegal border crossers Under the Biden-Harris administration, the greatest number of Russian illegal border crossers was reported nationwide in U.S. history of 126,683, with the most reported in fiscal 2023 of more than 57,000, according to the data. This year, FBI Director Christopher Wray testified multiple times before Congress of increased terrorist threats, including from China, Iran, North Korea and Russia. Several federal agencies also warned about Russian cyberthreats targeting U.S. “critical infrastructure with disruptive and destructive cyber and physical attacks,” as west Texas municipal water systems were targeted by Russian hackers, The Center Square reported. The total excludes data not published about 8 CPCs as well as CPC nationals released into the U.S. through the CBP One App and other parole programs. Combined, illegal border crossers from these four CPCs, 1,625,738, total more than the individual populations of 11 states: Hawaii, New Hampshire, Maine, Montana, Rhode Island, Delaware, South Dakota, North Dakota, Alaska, Vermont, and Wyoming. They are also the equivalent of more than 36 U.S. Army corps, with 45,000 soldiers in a corps, and roughly double the number of U.S. troops who served in Afghanistan for 20 years. by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – Israel has postponed its expected retaliatory strike on Iran after classified Pentagon documents detailing the planned operation were leaked and shared on both social media and major news outlets including CNN, an intelligence source has told the Times UK. Israel’s anticipated strike on Iran is intended to be a retaliatory attack for the barrage of more than 180 ballistic missiles that Tehran launched against Israel on October 1. Classified as “top secret” and dated October 15 and 16, the verified documents were compiled by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the National Security Agency (NSA), Ynet News reports. The files contain details of Israel’s planned military operations including missile strikes and air force maneuvers. “The leak of the American documents delayed the attack due to the need to change certain strategies and components,” the Times UK source said. “There will be a retaliation, but it has taken longer than it was supposed to take.” US President Joe Biden expressed serious concern over the leak and the Pentagon has launched an investigation into how the security breach occurred. The Pentagon has also denied reports by Sky News Arabia that Ariane Tabatabai, a Defense Department official of Iranian heritage, was responsible for it, Ynet News reports. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News reporting from Budapest, Hungary BUDAPEST (Worthy News) – Thousands of Hungarians, many waving their flags, including some with holes in them, gathered to protest against Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, whom they said stole the ideals of the 1956 Revolution against Soviet domination. The gathering, organized by opposition leader Péter Magyar and his Tisza party, came on the day that Hungary remembered the 68th anniversary of the revolt, which Soviet soldiers crushed. Hours earlier, Orbán, criticized for his perceived authoritarian style, warned the European Union, “We shall not allow Hungary to be turned into a puppet state, a vassal of Brussels.” At Budapest’s Millenaris Park commemoration, he claimed the 1956 revolution had created unity and a common will but lacked the strength necessary to take sovereign action. “Today, the right-wing government has the backing of strong national unity, a common will and strength,” he said. “Today, there’s an opportunity to take sovereign action, and I promise you that we shall use it.” He told his audience that to be “Hungarians means to fight. This is the message and the demand of the heroes of fifty-six. We Hungarians can and will do it. We will do it again.” However, his words did not impress Magyar, who has accused Orbán of turning Hungary into one of “Europe’s poorest and most corrupt” countries where some 3 million people live in deep poverty. Protester Csaba Borbély, a 51-year-old lawyer, agrees. “This government is corrupt. We have a ruler but no democracy,” he told Worthy News. While polls show he is closing in, and it remains to be seen whether Magyar can win the elections in 2026. The post Thousands Protest Hungarian Prime Minister appeared first on Worthy Christian News. by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent (Worthy News) – A federal judge has said he will issue a ruling by November 15 on whether Louisiana can enforce a new law requiring every public school classroom to have a poster on the wall with the Ten Commandments, the Advocate reports. Signed into law by Republican Gov. Jeff Landry in July, Act 676 requires a poster-sized display of the Ten Commandments in “large, easily readable font” in all public classrooms, from kindergarten to state-funded universities. The law provides that the cost of the posters will be covered by donations rather than public state funds. It is set to be implemented on January 1, 2025. The US Supreme Court struck down a similar Kentucky law in 1980, declaring it to be unconstitutional and a violation of the establishment clause of the U.S. Constitution, which says Congress can “make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” The Louisiana case arose after parents of children in public schools filed suit against the state, arguing the new law is unconstitutional and violates students’ religious freedom. The five parishes where the plaintiffs’ children attend school are East Baton Rouge, Livingston, Orleans, St. Tammany, and Vernon, the Advocate said. On Monday (October 21), Baton Rouge federal Judge John deGravelles said he would issue a ruling no later than November 15. “The ball is now officially in my court,” deGravelles said. By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News STUTTGART/BUDAPEST (Worthy News) – Evangelists say a Christian “revival” is taking place in Germany that could spread across Europe after “thousands” of people” got “saved, delivered, healed, [and] baptized with the Holy Spirit.” The events in Europe’s largest economy come at a time of growing tensions over the massive influx of migrants fleeing war, persecution, and poverty from mainly Muslim nations. Germany has seen several Muslim rallies and even attempts to introduce Islamic religious police who patrolled the city of Wuppertalstreets as “Sharia police.” Yet Christian evangelist Jean-Luc Trachsel said he was encouraged that thousands of young people packed the Porsche Arena in the German city of Stuttgart for the “Fire Festival” “to praise, worship, and hear the Word of God.” He recalled that “after a short preaching of the ABC of the Gospel by my dear friend, David Rotärmel, hundreds upon hundreds of young people came at the altar to give their lives to Jesus. “Truly, it’s harvest time in Europe, like here in Stuttgart, Germany.” Trachsel said the October 2-5 event ended with a “Jesus March” through Stuttgart. “The last time I’ve seen and experienced this…was at the Brownsville revival in Pensacola [in the United States] almost 30 years ago. Today, it’s here in Europe,” he added in video footage of people being baptized in a pool. ‘THOUSANDS SAVED’ “I’ve seen with my own eyes thousands of people getting saved, and today it’s water baptisms in a glorious and joyful atmosphere,” he added. The six-day event was the latest example of what evangelists say “is taking place by the Spirit of God” in Germany, Europe’s largest economy. Night of Hope is another movement preaching the Gospel on the streets of Hamburg, Bremen, Munchen, and other German cities. Their outdoor crusades are marked by “prayer, salvations, and testimonies of healing,” Christians say. “We are thankful to see what God is doing here in Germany,” the group stressed on Instagram. Attendees were recently encouraged to “leave old things behind” and embrace their new life in Jesus Christ. The new believers are noted when religious Christianity has been impacted by declining church membership. While Orthodox churches across Germany have grown substantially, the Catholic and Protestant churches are losing followers. In 2023, Germany’s Catholic Church lost more than 591,000 members through church departures and deaths. According to official figures, it had 20.3 million members at the end of that year. BORN AGAIN In Switzerland, evangelists estimate that only three to five percent of the seven million people are “born-again Christians” who chose faith in Christ. It isn’t much better elsewhere in Europe. According to a Pew Research survey, European Christians are expected to drop by about 100 million, from 553 million in 2010 to 454 million in 2050. Europe’s Muslim population is due to increase by 63 percent in that time frame, according to researchers. Yet evangelists note that massive revival gatherings may stop that trend. Organizers say such gatherings have occurred throughout the continent, including in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Hungary, and Italy.
